"It seems my children have found followers amongst the humans in the western and eastern lands. It has been many moons since I last spoke with Elathion and Eos, and even I know not their plans for those mortals. I can only pray it is simple curiosity, and a wish to carve out a place in Nalor with children of their own. Yet, I can feel something on waves. Something wracked with sorrow. I may need to divine the fates further." - Memoirs of Father Anankos; likely from the First Era sometime before the Twilight Crisis
W.I.P sneak peak of an AU of FE Fates. The borders of the countries themselves aside, much of this is subject to change since it is a w.i.p but some things are finalizing. I just really want to worldbuild this continent since I love Fates and worldbuilding so much. Also the continents name is: Nalor. A name I gave it back when I appreciated Fates far less than I do now, and want to change the meaning of myself. A lot of my worldbuilding is simple elaboration of what canon has already given us threads of, with minor deviations of "Hey this is an AU why not run with this" (with on exception that started as a joke between me and my friend, got solidified in the story, and now I won't part with it. But more on that someday)
Bonus:
This is the world map that won't really be used for the story much at all, but helps me establishes some things for background. Nalor is the part in the top left corner and the piece in the middle is Valla before shit happened. It's changed a lot from the map I put on my side blog awhile back ngl.
Well, first off, I think Katerina would take the throne after Garon saved Aretes and Azura, instead of passing the throne along to her son. Of course, the mistresses would fear they'd be banished from the castle for their feuds. She simply stopped them with a firm axe--I MEAN diplomatic reasoning.
So I’ve been thinking about an au of sorts, where Garon is order by dragon Anankos* to have Corrin assassinated to prevent them from potentially interfering with his plans.
*I have no finished revelation yet, so what I understand from the Anankos situation comes from what I've played thus far and spoilers I saw . might change in the future the more I play.

Hans and his crew is sent to the fortress to kill Corrin, slaughtering anyone they see. Jakob and Gunter defend corrin, and stay behind to allow Corrin, Flora, felicia, and Lilith to escape on horse back. A couple hours later, Xander and Leo arrive for their visit, only to find everyone at the fortress dead, with no apparent signs of Corrin. They go back and tell Camilla and Elise, and together they go to King Garon to report what they saw, who is disturbingly unconcerned for the supposed kidnapping or murder of their adopted sibling. They all decide to take searching for Corrin into their own hands. Leo and Xander are ordered to “Execute” the captives Rinkah and Kaze. once they are freed, without many leads or resources to their disposal, ask them for help finding their lost sibling. Rinkah refuses, but Kaze agrees once given the name of the missing Royal.
Flora and felicia take Corrin adn Lilith to the Ice Tribe, who allows them refuge, albeit with caution (An enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all that). They stay there undisturbed for several weeks, before Hans and his crew, accompanied with more soldiers including Silas, attack the village. Recognizing Corrin ,Silas runs in and takes a blow meant for them, Losing his arm in the process. with an new injured ally in tow, they flee from the village as they fight against hans and his crew. They make it to the next settlement, a good ways away. They recieve medical attention, and Corrin decides to change their identity to try to avoid Hans..
Meanwhile in Hoshido, During an address, The royal family is attacked by invisible soliders. Lady Mikoto is killed, And Ryoma is injured protecting Azura. The Nation is left in great disarray, and the attack’s blame is quickly placed on Nohr. Kaze and rinkah find the nation in High alert as generals, the Royal family, and Yukimura decide on the next course of action.
Can you write some hc's about mikoto and nari before they came to hoshido and mikoto's life before she and areta had to leave valla please??
OH BOY…..
Headcanons (+spoilers) under cut!
WHILE my hcs will be generalized, keep in mind that Nari is a recycled reincarnation of a character in my nuzlocke worldbuilding lore (that I slapped into FE14 because of some similarities I saw). To get a general idea of that, these are some links you can check out:

The family tree where I mention Nari specifically
Anyway here’s the hc stuff you wanted about Arete and Mikoto.
Arete is Mikoto’s sister-in-law by marriage. Mikoto’s older brother was the last Vallite King. FYI this doesn’t excuse the Corrin/Azura incest because they are STILL related
Valla had a very strong singing/dancing culture, so many of the higher ranked people in the kingdom prided themselves in learning intricate dances and songs. Arete was one of the most talented songstresses there, and probably was a noble girl that was married into royalty.
Arete’s family were also well-known historians whose goal was to preserve Vallite culture and traditions, possibly the most influential family bar the royalty themselves
Mikoto on the other hand, while she was descended from the Vallite Kings, did not show much talent in either so she was a bit overshadowed by her older brother (who probably had some A+ voice genes). But she did not mind this because it meant the public did not care about her too much and she had way more freedom to be less like a traditional Vallite princess
This carefree personality was probably the reason why Mikoto took pity on amnesiac human!Anankos and married him. And by that time the kingdom was slowly becoming ruined by dragon!Anankos’s wrath. Arete had tried to restore some order as the new queen (since her husband was killed), but was unable to stop dragon!Anankos’s army of invisible dead/undead/idk soldiers.
Arete was really surprised that Mikoto somehow managed to marry and have a kid during this entire Valla shitshow but was too busy trying to hold the kingdom together to really stop her sister lol
When Nari was born, Mikoto named the child herself. The name itself was not exactly Vallite in origin (or had any root in any other particular language due to the au setting), but she claimed the name just felt “right”. Given that Mikoto had her eccentricities (as described in the Orochi/avatar supports), I thought that was fitting.
Despite having no memories at the time, human!Anankoswould absentmindedly hum “Lost in Thoughts” to baby Nari. This is why later on, when Nari hears Azura sing it, the song gives her a strange sense of security and comfort. Nari also probably heard Arete singing it to baby Azura too.
Because of how his dragon self was being a destructive lil shit, human!Anankos (after finally getting out of his plot convenient amnesia) hoped his kid would be succumb to the same draconic rage…but you know how that ended lmfao
Originally Mikoto and Arete had planned to escape to Hoshido together (human!Anankos suggested it because the land was more hospitable). He even gave them a change of garments and different Hoshidan names that would help them blend in better there. At this point I should mention that the name Mikoto is merely an alias, for her true Vallite name is “Minerva.” (I tried to find a Greek name that matches the Valla name thing…idk)
But after they emerged out of the Bottomless Canyon, they were ambushed by invisible Vallite soldiers and were forcibly separated. Because they were not sure if the other was alive from the skirmish, both of them decided to head for the nearest country they ended up in: Arete in Nohr, and Mikoto in Hoshido.
Arete, realizing her Vallite dress/name was more Nohrian than what Anankos provided, did not bother changing her name and pretended to hail from the outskirts of the Nohr kingdom.
While Mikoto was awful at dancing and singing, she had a inherent talent for healing and archery and picked up the Hoshidan priestess class as she settled into her new home.
Arete on the other hand, could have continued the songstress role but her past experience as a ruler in Valla made her a great Nohrian strategist. Instead, she passed down the traditions and songs to Azura.
Also, thank you for enjoying my hcs and my silly avatar oc Nari!
After seeing your art of the queens, and considering A version of Nari is alive in this universe, it makes me wonder what the Twin Kings would be like in Fire Emblem standards.
HMMMM....
It’s SUPER FUNNY you mention this because I guess if Nari is the Corrin, the Kings would be like...the First Dragons? Or the Hoshido/Nohr nobles in that they can transform into dragons? But then, in MoU they got overwhelmed with power as dragons so they are very much like the feral dragon “class” I suppose...
