Any tips on dealing with anxiety, fear and stress?
I live in the US and the recent elections and the political climate have me stressed as an immigrant to the point that this is what I think all day.
girl, i feel you completely!! i know what it feels like to have one stressful thing that runs through your mind all day, and you want to stop thinking about it but it feels like it just won't stop! im so glad you reached out to me <3 hope this helps!
☆.。.: dealing with stress, anxiety & fear
write your problems down
get everything down in a piece of paper, or in a diary or type it up, whatever you want. just get it all out of your head and down onto a physical thing. now that your problem is in front of you, choose to let it go. this isn't your problem any more, it's not yours to feel anxious about. if you've written it on paper, burn it or tear it up.
especially if its going through your head all day, it can be really frustrating. take it out of your system by transferring your fears and worries to paper.
so then also, start by shifting your focus to what you can control right now, to doing what will make you happy. being with your family, writing, running, doing a sport, drawing, talking to friends, etc.
also, once you have your problems written down and out of your head, you can now use that brilliant mind of yours to do things that will actually make a difference, like getting a hobby -> (mentioned below).
you can't worry about things you can't control.
i know this may be hard to hear with everything thats going on for you, but if theres nothing you can do to improve the situation, you need to realise that pouring your attention and energy into it is doing no good! if you want, you can even make a control circle with all the things you can control & what you can't (my example below). this will help you actually see and understand what you can't control & from there, try not to waste any more time on it.
however, if you know that there is something you can control/ do to make it better, do it. even if its hard, break it down and take baby steps and make a game plan.
try to find some hobbies that will distract you and take your attention off of whats bothering you. -> heres a big list of hobbies- try to pick up any that you would find interesting <3
talk to people
talk to people who love you, just talk to others. get different perspectives. remember that you don't have to suffer alone with this. talk to others about how you're feeling and allow yourself to be comforted. remember that this isn't just your worry/ burden to carry, let others help and guide you.
let yourself feel the emotions
let yourself feel the horror and terror and fear and anxiety and stress. don't try to suppress it, that would just make you a boring emotionless person. you are human, you are allowed to feel these things. so allow yourself to experience any fear you may be holding to get it out of your system.
then let it go. you've thrown a tantrum/ done whatever you could to feel the emotion, let it go. let. it. go.
go and touch some grass
go outside. connect with nature. put your hand on a tree. look at birds or other animals. walk barefoot on grass. going back to nature after all that may be happening in your life is like a breath of fresh air.
go out and remember that this world is so big, so vast. there are so many wonderful amazing things going on for you, you simply must not let one thing ruin your day.
additional quick tips:
meditation to clear your mind
sleep/ take a nap
exercise/ get ur body moving!
affirmations- affirm that you're safe, loved, etc.
manifesting a better outcome.
take a break from the news/ screens! theres only really negativity on there, so unless you're gonna snuggle in and watch your fav show like gilmore girls, just get off devices for now.
