The second of my Nine Realms redesigns! I actually don't mind the look of the original Featherhide and Gembreaker compared to some of the other new species the show introduces. But I did feel like it had some wasted potential. Like for a species called a Featherhide, it didn't really have a lot of feathers on it apart from the head and tail. The main animal that influenced this design for me were parrots, with their bright colors and abilities similar to the Featherhide.

Some info on my version of the Featherhide:

They are highly social flock dragons, similar to parrots. And they form very tight bonds with their flockmates, and often mate for life.

Their diet consists mostly of fruit, though they do eat fish and other forms of meat on rare occasions.

They are extremely cautious of those outside of their flock, and will usually run and hide by turning invisible rather than confronting a threat.

They normally live in the nature realm.

Some info on my version of Feathers:

The way she meets and bonds with Alex stays the same as how it is in the show, as I believe it is one of the best aspects of the original show.

She got separated from her flock, who she is one of the younger members of, after the fissure opened. The opening caused the balance of the hidden world to change, and prompted dragons like the Fault Ripper to start drilling around the different realms, creating new openings between the realms not available before. She wound up in the crystal realm scared and confused without her flock.

She eventually comes to see Alex and the other dragons/kids as her own Flock, and it allows her to start to overcome her fears and become a more confident dragon, paralleling Alex's own struggle with her anxiety. She is particularly close with Jiaolong (my version of Jun's dragon) as they are a very comforting presence for her, though not as much as Alex.

Alex has taught her a lot of words and phrases for her to mimic. (and I know for a fact that if this wasn't a kids show Alex would definitely be teaching her swears.)

What if when it's particularly cold the dragons get feathers from birds and basically make little coats out of them so then they just look fluffy but they're warm
