New art I finished today, based on an old scetch from way back when I first made my Jörmungandr design 🐍
One thing I love about drawing my version of the big snake (and also a thing I find an important aspect of the character that the canon show's design failed at), is really making the scale of seem fitting to a "World Serpent".
I don't actually have exact measurements (and overall accurate proportions are a thing I struggle with, so that's never a guarantee on my art /lh), but half the idea is that there never is a clear sense of how big it is. If this design was in an animated show, I'd have it be a thing where it's body is always scaling all over the scene and landscape, or encompassing a lot of the screen, just to make it imposing and, like the species name implies, unfathomable.
Anyway, this is kind of part of how I envision Jörmungandr's awakening from its long hibernation in my AU. The kids and dragons don't know that the cavern they're exploring is actually the body of the ancient snake, curling and coiling to form a cave-like shape. It's only when the cave wall suddenly moves to reveal an eye, that they catch on.
Also a look at my Thunder design as it is currently!
