Tarnów (part three)

•Railway station

So this is one of my favourite places in the entire town. Back in August 28th 1939 the train station has been blown up. It was a deadly explosion carried out by a German saboteur two days before the start of World War II in Europe. The bombs were planted by the secret agent. As far as I know there were two bombs hidden in suitcases.The explosion killed 20 people and wounded 35 others.

•Władysław Łokietek

As I already mentioned in the first post Władysław Łokietek was the founder of the Town. This is his statue. Every day at 10.00 am and 4.00 pm plays "Bogurodzica" which is current anthem of the polish military. Here is a short video of me capturing this moment. (Sorry for shaking camera it was really cold outside)

On this day in 1606 Christine of France, Duchess of Savoy was born. Christine was the third child of Henry IV of France and Marie de' Medici. She married once: Victor Amadeus I, Duke of Savoy – 1619 – 1637 (his death). They had 8 children including Francis Hyacinth, Duke of Savoy and Charles Emannuel II, Duke of Savoy. Their first child was stillborn.
