For the Love of Outlander

28 Days of Outlander - Day 6

When did you first join the Outlander fandom and what is your favorite thing about being a member?

I probably joined last year; Febraury 2017. If you see my Day 1 post, you will see what initially brought me to Outlander.

Well after deciding that I had some interest in JAMMF and the Outlander story, I came to tumblr and searched for Outlander. Among many posts and gif sets, I eventually found some gifs and clips from the Wedding scenes. 😲 So obviously, for science sake, I had to investigate some of the interesting aspects. Like the whole; Where did you learn to kiss like that, virgin not a monk, scars on his back, I’m an adulteress, etc. After looking more intensely at some of the clips and gifs, and seeing some excerpts (and not knowing what was going on) I decided to read the books followed by watching Season 1. Which of course led to more obsessive digging on tumblr for material!

I was drawn into the fandom by the interactions between Sam and Cait bts, interviews, and panels. I loved how comfortable they seemed together; how funny they were and teasing eachother as well as the inside jokes. I loved how they were such great friends even off screen. I really wanted to find out that they were dating irl. Apparently they are not, but I still find it fun to imagine that they are.

So my favorite thing (before all the drama that happened) was all the happiness surrounding the pair. It was fun to looks at photos, interviews, clips, and panels and see their interactions together and discuss that (well I never discussed and only lurked). Of course I knew about the other SOs, but they weren’t a part of Outlander so I chose to ignore them. Since all the negativity surrounding recent news about Cait and her fiancé, I have revamped my feed so I’m not brought down by all the negativity. I enjoy Outlander for the story and romance between the main characters, not other people. I’m glad to have found a few new blogs who are simply happy to be happy about Sam, Cait, Jamie, Claire, and Outlander.
