Febuwhump 2026 - Day 9 - Auction [ Alt prompt 5]
Day 9 - False Memory
The concept here is that Caine alters Jax’s mind to replace all of Jax’s good memories of Ribbit with himself. (This using the headcanon that Ribbit and Jax were in a romantic relationship) I wanted to write a fic for this but was struggling with getting it how I wanted it to be in such a short amount of time. I might come back to this after the challenge is over and I have more time to workshop it.
Masterpost for my Febuwhump fics
Febuwhump Day 9: Bees “Human” Weapon
“Weapon? I have a whole arsenal now!”
I figured I would continue this prompt! Next
Poor Jace is off camera peeing his pants. Like Kendra wasn’t scary enough before she brainwashed a 3-D printer for any weapon imaginable.
Febuwhump Day 9: False Memory
That was not his master. These are not his troopers. But for this moment, the pain is all for him.
Febuwhump Day 9: Necromancy
pairings: gen
summary: a story about y/n, Redbull’s new second driver, told in non-sequential order
a/n: I love febuwhump and have participated before for other fandoms but this is a first for me — attempting to compete it via smau only. Hopefully I can write a complete story eventually and I will be posting it on its own masterlist in the correct order to read but it’ll be written based on the febuwhump prompt list! @febuwhump
a/n2: based on the 2024 year; sorry checo but you got replaced earlier!
a/n3: not all of them gonna be angsty despite that being the challenge — we can’t have a completely awful season right??

@febuwhump day 9: False Memory
He shouldn’t have felt the faint tremble through his boots, but he did. Scott glanced down, frowning, but before he worked out if he’d truly felt it or not, his comms blinked.
“Go ahead, Thunderbird Five.”
“Aftershocks.” John didn’t waste words when he had warnings to give. “Hitting hard and fast.”
“F.A.B.”
Mindful of the officials surrounding him – rescue teams, the police, and a mayor who didn’t believe he could be in the way – Scott kept his tone strictly professional as he opened a wide channel to his team.
“Thunderbirds, sound off.”
“Thunderbird Two, sky high.”
Good: Virgil was in the air and away from any immediate danger.
“Thunderbird Three, at the rendezvous point.”
“Hold your position, Thunderbird Three.”
“F.A.B.”
Alan sounded reluctant but he wouldn’t disobey a direct order.
“Thunderbird Four?”
“Thunderbird Four, um...”
Febuwhump 2026 Day 9 - False Memory
Two hundred years.
Two hundred years Owen had spent trying to forget. Hoping that maybe, if he closed his eyes long enough, he would see only darkness. Such a desperate, naive thought.
Owen saw it all in flashes. The little pieces that didn’t quite fit perfectly together but got close. The undoing of his whole world because of fear. Because they couldn’t stand something from the outside being brought in. Even if that thing was so kind and caring and had done so much good.
Children crying. Those little muffled sobs that escaped no matter how tightly they clasped their little hands over their mouths.
The thought that they were doing something good, by burning the rest of the world away. Those wretched stares that saw him as nothing but a diseased creature unworthy of the slightest compassion. Complicit. All of them. All two thousand seven hundred and ninety nine people.
And now, bright flashes that screamed into the night.
No matter how much he tried, those memories that were not his stayed with him. It wasn’t the guilt, or the terror, it was the broken truth of humanity that had kept Owen buried and half awake. Starving because that was as close to death as he could get, clawing weakness. How many times had he sharpened a stake only to find he didn’t have the strength?
Two hundred years had passed and yet nothing at all had changed. About the human race, about himself, about all the little ways in which the world was broken.
Two hundred years Owen had spent starving in the ground, in the dark, trying to pretend none of it was real. Trying to pretend he didn’t exist. And yet it never stopped hurting. That rage still smoldered, never extinguished.
Owen could still see Louis’ face, burned to nothing but an ashen skull.
Two hundred sleepless years, and Owen was so so tired. But he didn’t have the choice to truly rest. Cold. Unending. Silence.
