Stone Soup, the version where one man convinces an entire starving village to come together and create a massive cauldron of soup that feeds everybody, is a good story and everybody should read it.
My first cake in my new oven is baking!!! This oven is very different than any other oven I've ever used. It has no bottom element and it has a fan. And, the cake cooked 5 minutes faster than usual. Definitely, different... It looks good and smells great so I'm very hopeful and excited to try it!! I made a carrot cake and I'm going to frost it with cream cheese frosting. I am just making a sheet cake this time because it's easier, and I love the cake to frosting ratio of a sheet cake. I'll bake a tiered cake next time I bake a cake. If this cake comes out right, I'm going to try cream puffs, next!! I love cream puffs!! 😋❤️🥕🎂🍰🙏🏼I can't wait until it cools to see if it's good so I'm going to go steal a corner of the cake. I'll be right back.... oh, my, my!!! That cake is so moist, light, and airy!! It's delicious 😋 😍 It's official... I love my new oven!!! ❤️❤️ I need another piece of that cake... time to make some frosting!!! 😁🤗🤣😋🥕🍰❤️
The oven thermometer said it was off by 50°, but the cake came out very well so I'm fine with that!!!
It's cooling, now. It looks so lonely... it needs some frosting so I'll be right back with a photo of my frosted cake... not gonna lie... I might have to eat a piece first, though😁🤣🤭😋😍🥕🍰 quality control is very important to me... so is cake!! 🥕🍰😋🤣 so I'll make the sacrifice and try a piece... it's a tough job, but someone has to do it... Petey just volunteered... 🤣🐕🤣
This is the finished cake. It's delicious. I didn't add a lot of powdered sugar to the frosting so it's very creamy... I like it like that!!😋🥕🍰❤️
I've been in my new house, officially, for a week, and I, finally, used my stove!!! I had been so excited to be able to order a pizza that I had two pizzas in the past week!! I, usually, eat very healthy so this was a one time thing. I justified it by saying I was too busy unpacking to cook. 😆🤣🤣 Whatever works, right? 😉😁🤣 I have never cooked on a glass cook top. It was different, but it worked very well. I made myself a huge shrimp cocktail. I made cocktail sauce with ketchup, horseradish, and lime juice. It was delicious. Petey enjoyed it, too!! It was simple and easy and tasty so.... it was a no brainer...
I got to use my new dinnerware. This is a huge bowl that'll be great for pasta, but it works very well for shrimp, too. I'll have a salad, later, to balance it all out. Next, I'm going to bake a cheesecake, in my oven. I hope it works as well as the stove did!! I still can't find my silverware so I ate dinner with a big spoon. 🤣🤣😋😋 I'm stuffed... I have more shrimp marinating in the fridge so Petey and I might have some more, in an hour or so... 😋😋🐕❤️✨️🥳🎊🎉
I made chicken pot pie muffins again!!! They are so good. The crust gets so crispy this way, and each muffin is a perfect serving size. It has a delightful ratio of crust to filling!!! I am using great self control not to have a second one. I'm stuffed from the first one, but they're sooooooo good. I'll have one for breakfast. Is it breakfast time, yet? 😉😁🤣😋 I filled them with chicken, pearl onions, mushrooms, carrots, peas, corn, celery, green peppers, onions, minced garlic, and a wonderful roux that I made from flour, butter, chicken stock, milk, and seasonings. I'm getting hungry again just typing this into my phone... 😁🤣🤣😋 In the words of Julia Child, whose pastry dough recipe i used... bon appétit!! I actually added more butter to the great French chef's recipe. More butter in a French recipe is extravagant, but delicious!!! These things are decadent. That's why I only eat them once in a while.... 😁🤣😍😋
I spend so much time watching these birds eat and do their thang!! It's one of the greatest joys of my life!! They are gorgeous birds!!💙🖤💙🖤💙
I made stuffed peppers cooked in a vegetable marinara sauce with seasoned parmesan reggiano tuiles!! I never made tuiles before, but I'm making them with everything from now on!! They're delicious and so easy to make!! And they add an artistic kinda flair to the plate, dontcha think?
I stuffed the peppers with a mixture of chopped meat, brown rice, sautéed onions,mushrooms, green peppers, and minced garlic. I seasoned that with garlic powder, basil, oregano, salt and pepper. I then combined the mixture with some tomato paste and some of the vegetable marinara sauce. I topped them with panko bread crumbs mixed with parmesan reggiano, basil, oregano, garlic, salt and pepper. I believe in seasoning every component of a dish to make sure everything tastes great on its own so when you combine it, it tastes phenomenal!! It worked very well this time!!
I made the tuiles with seasoned parmesan reggiano... as I said, I season everything!! And I mean everything!! I might start making tuiles just to snack on because they're sooooooo good!! I love the nutty flavor of toasted parmesan reggiano cheese!! And it's so crunchy, too!!😁😁😋😋😍😍 Right now, I am stuffed just like my peppers!! 😉😁🤣🤣😋 In the words of my favorite French chef, Julia Child, bon appétit!!! And bon it was!!! 😁😁😋😋😍😍
