QUICK! Choose Your from My Faves: Horny Lift and Carry Edition
It's a new month! So I'm back with another poll. I actually had already made another poll but this one came to me whilst I was making the first one so I decided to do this one instead.
Anyways, I know we all love a good lift scene in general, but we're talking specifically about the horny ones. You know where he lifts the other he and carries him somewhere else so they can get it in? The ones where you can feel all the desire and desperation to get the going.

Seriously, thank you all SO much. I am emerging from the cave and work-induced coma that was January, and this is SUCH a delightful way to do it! I greatly enjoyed reading everyone's stories and journeys. It's wild how varied they are while still feeling familiar.
Gonna be honest...I was enjoying reading everyone's journeys so much, that I went ahead and read the posts by @embersinthefirelight @watchthisqqq @maybe-boys-do-love @gotmehookedonthekpop and @alecdoesntknowhowtoadult too.
It looks like I need to add Yes or No to my watchlist.
Where to begin.....
Apparently by making gifs 😅.
Stage Beauty (2004)
Is the messaging in this film problematic? 100%, yes, very. Would I probably greatly dislike this film if I saw it for the first time today? Also yes. Does it even qualify as queer? Probably not.
But all my brain processed at the time was....it exists. This type of media exists. These types of characters exist.
And at the time, that left a bigger impact on me than I can possibly describe in words. It meant I wanted more.
Princess Jellyfish (2008+)
Like the previous one, is this queer? Coded - maybe? Like many of my favorite crossdressers in media, Kuranosuke is definitely identified as straight. But....it was this show that forced me to admit a lot of things about myself. Thanks to some amazing teenagers in my life, I also learned a lot of fun new words around this time like "pansexual". I consider it a major stepping stone for me personally and for looking for more queer media in all forms.
And....apparently we're making more gifs.
Silhouette of Your Voice (2017)
As someone who is hearing impaired and does not sign, this IP is incredibly precious to me. I thought about skipping it, because it's not like it drew me further into the QL genre. But...it's a huge part of my story. It was a first. The first time I felt my disability was represented in a way that felt accurate to me on a lot of levels.
Together With Me (2017)
We're actually to the prompt at this point 😂. Yeah, I watched the opening sequence of Together With Me and life has never been the same. I was reeled in for whatever else this genre could throw at me. What pulled me into QL? MaxTul. Hook, line and sinker. If I had stuck to the prompt, this post would be 1 show/1 gif long. This is it. The whole answer.
TharnType (2019)
This is my first fully live watch. I have STRONG memories of essentially sneaking around and even lying to coworkers so I could skip a dinner and go watch the newest episode. #icecube scene for the win. I still think it was the right choice to skip dinner. For the record, I was already lurking in the tags of Tumblr by this point even if it was only the tags for shows I was watching.
The Heart Killers (2024/2025)
The show that got me to finally stop lurking. Why? Well... @airenyah wrote these epically amazing but long posts about Style that I absolutely HAD to read, but I wanted to read them comfortably on the couch.
So...FINE. I'll make an actual account and download the Tumblr app after count that...6-7 years of lurking in various BL tags and bookmarking blogs in my browser.
Having the app (and an account) meant I did something I had never done before....I answered a poll. And that was fun. Then one night I was tired/not reading carefully and mis-clicked on a poll (in THK tag) about where you were from. I panicked. At my core, I'm a data person....and I had messed up someone's data. So I decided to comment and apologize. And the person was incredibly nice about it.
And it made me wonder...could I? Should I? What would it be like to actually talk about all of these shows I love? My brother encouraged (read: practically forced) me to start the blog, and here we are...a year and 865+ original posts later.
A ton of people already did this one so no-pressure tagging a few I haven't seen @bluesandfilms @obsessedferalgremlin @delesaria-blog @dramalove247 @babyangelsky @soypim
Hi!! Just wanted to ask if you could recommend some series which have kidnapping scenes like only scene not kidnapping for love, just the loved ones kidnapped as a part to make the main lead suffer that type of, or maybe hostage situations?? If possible 😀
BL with the Kidnapping Trope
Hum, this is hard since I usually only track kidnapping for love but I'll do a cycle through and see if I can remember other kidnapping incidents. But KFL will also be included.
Khemjira
(Thai 2025 iQIYI)
The story of a boy laboring under a curse, haunted by ghosts and demons, who’s family, friends, and (eventual) lover all try to help him via spiritual and physical means. While very much a horror BL (not my genre), I’m very glad that I gave this a chance. This is a diaphanous magical BL of the kind that only really comes along once a year these days - with more lingering notes of I Feel You Linger in the Air than any actual gay horror I could name. It’s not going in my personal rewatch rotation, but I admire its (and its actor's) otherworldly beauty, stylish NC scenes, cultural relevancy, and elegant execution and impact.
See Your Love
(Taiwan 2025 Viki & Gaga)
A darling little show that I genuinely couldn’t have enjoyed more. About a deaf care worker and his spoiled broken little prince. A caretaker takes a job protecting and healing a mafia boy (in all ways). The boy is tortured and broken but still loving and earnest and willing to enter his beloved's world. Taiwanese BL at its softest and best. This show basically said it was more important to do sign language and kisses properly then any silly mafia fighting bits. And they were absolutely correct. Highly recommended.
The Heart Killers
(Thai 2025 iQIYI)
Jojo directed this action romcom about assassin brothers (Khao & Joong) meets conmen: tattoo artist ex-booster (First) and very flirty mechanic (Dunk). I dithered over how to rate this. It felt like an 8 show wearing a 9’s britches. There were dropped threads, forgotten characters, and unfinished plot lines even with a long run time. And, for me, it doesn’t have significant rewatch potential. HOWEVER it was so much FUN (when one applies no expectations or logic) and I enjoyed the wildly unhinged relationships and, weirdly, music. I mean nobody claimed that we needed Taming of the Shrew only with gay Thai hitmen, but we really needed it. And no one asked for Petruchio to be the bratiest queen ever to strut his perfect skin and croptops across our screen, and yet we loved him for it. Sure it didn’t make sense and was utterly absurd, but it was terribly earnest and sexy about it. In the end this goes hand-in-hand with all these other bonkers crime pieces we’ve been getting since KinnPorsche, and frankly I like this one the best so far.
The Rebound
(Thai 2024 iQIYI)
This was a sports romance Thai BL pulp with everything I could have asked for given this sub genre. More, actually, since MeenPing are both great basketball players and the team component really did form part of the connective tissue of the show (vital in a sports romance). Meen has his shirt off within the first two minutes which is all I needed but he's still pretty great as the sullen secret keeper against Ping's cheerful survivor - childhood sweethearts torn asunder and now reunited. Then Frank sweeps in to give everyone a bad case of second lead syndrome. I always try to judge BL for what it is AS BL, and what it’s trying to do within its own territory and purview. This did exactly what it claimed on the tin: gay boys play b-ball and fall in love. Sure there was random kidnapping and a light bought of mass murder, but what’s a BL in 2024 without a touch of the mafia? You do you little pulp, I’m disposed to be pleased.
Knock Out
(Thai 2025 WeTV)
The son of a policeman tries to solve his father’s murder and uncovers an underground boxing ring. He gets involved with a champion boxer along the way. This is a solid story with near perfect casting, charming leads and excellent chemistry. The fight scenes are great, specially if you like Muay Thai, and it’s pretty well balanced in terms of plot and romance. Even if that plot is… wild. High marks all around for this unexpectedly fun little show. But I have to say, it is carried by Keen, who may be one of the greatest main characters we’ve had in a really long time. Plucky, tough, smart, kind, sweet, loving, loyal, and explicitly very gay. While I am not sure it will get many rewatches from me because of the violence, it gets extra credit for such a remarkably un-BL main character.
TharnType
(Thai 2019 Viki)
University setting, great acting and complex characters, interesting friendship groups, enemies to lovers, seriously angsty comg out, high production values, AMAZING chemistry, multiple BL side couples with all the issues, damaging queer rep, strong seme/uke and husband/wife language, classic tropes and lots of them. I don’t know your triggers, but if you have them, all the trigger warnings on this one (dub con, r!!pe, mental illness, kidnapping and resluting child trauma, bullying, rough play etc…)
Addicted: Heroin
(China 2016 Viki)
When Chinese BL was good it was very dirty good and when it was bad it was censored. This is the model for that statement: censored mid/late series but a high heat classic BL prior to that, Addicted has a sublimely weird (unfinished) ending, but remains a fan favorite. Unfinished due to censorship but so good, well acted and shot, with a high school setting, this features a rich kid falling madly for the genius poor kid in his class, who starts an aggressive pursuit, includes kidnapping for love, obsession, stepbrother trope, plus some cheating. I love this BL because of what I could have been. Just stop watching it after The Sex Scene. Okay?
Kidnap
(Thai 2024 Gaga)
A cute if patently absurd little show about a stuntman who is somehow convinced to kidnap a rich kid except they fall in love. It takes itself a little more seriously than it deserves for such a silly plot and some crappy stunts and contradictory content, but it was a pleasantly romantic experience all around, and I enjoyed myself. Extra credit for Q in that perfect blue color throughout. No complaints, a solid BL.
Sammy's Children's Day
(Hong Kong 2026 Viki & Gaga)
The story of a brilliant college kid growing up the the slums who falls in love with a local gangster. Hong Kong mafia babygirl with sexual identity crisis was not on my bingo card for 2026, but I sure am delighted to have him show up. Paired with manipulative af genius college kid seme and life ain't bad. The "manipulation as a love language" agenda proceeds a pace. This show was a little under-developed in terms of character, backstory, and side couple, due to a curtailed length, but I still found in an entertaining piece, and the best quality we’ve gotten out of Hong Kong in a really long time (I know, I know, other money weas involved.)
Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo
(Korea 2024 Gaga)
High school student Do Hoe lives with his brutal father who runs a Taekwondo gym. When cheerful Ju Young arrives to train, they fall in love. An unexpected incident forces them apart, they reunite over a decade years later. Essentially this is a brilliant narrative about finding love at the worst possible time, surviving chronic abuse, and the way we process mental, emotional, and physical trauma overtime. Yes it’s also a romance, but that’s not primarily what this story is actually about. I can recognize its genius, but this type of narrative is not for me. I’m reminded of bittersweet painful shows like Where Your Eyes Linger, or The Eighth Sense, or even Not Me. Is this BL tangential or is it some other genre entirely? Am I questioning my own taste because I did not like its content, or because I do not like its genre? And if it’s not BL should I even render judgment? I think I have to lean into the way I approached some of those other shows, which is to say: it is not for me but I recognize that it is of an extremely high-quality that is certainly for someone else. (Note: I honestly can't remember why I noted the kidnap trigger on this, could be a flaw in the Spreadsheet of Doom.)
Meet You At the Blossom
(China 2024 Gaga)
This was Very Silly Indeed but undeniably a wuxia and most definitely BL. Evil stunning princely Cheekbones meets and falls in love with the bisexual disaster Dimples of his dreams. There’s a lot of floaty fighting sleeve action, tangled plots, and overworked emotions. From start to finish it is exactly as it claims to be, including more than the expected amount of sexual claiming (dubious consent to the point of r!!pe). I’m not wild about the wuxia genre, but I will tell you what I do like: Very pretty men in flowing robes + eye makeup + hair ribbons wafting about stabbing and kissing each other plus ridiculous soap opera machinations. I also like cheekbones and dimples. AND I love a stupid gay sleeve, okay? There was also truly epic levels of stink-eye, and that too is to be lauded. This show left me grinning like crazy. Was it great? Not really, but it was a great experience and I enjoyed it immensely. If you want to dip into wuxia danmei in a way that's less burdensome than Kill to Love and shorter/kissier than Untamed and WoH, then try MYATB. I did a trash watch of it and had TONS of fun.
Secret Relationships
(Korea 2025 iQIYI)
An entirely unhinged story about a troubled office worker and the 3 men who are passionately in love with him. 2 of whom are warped and psychotic about it. This is an unadulterated melodrama, extreme in all ways, including domestic violence, kidnapping for love, and some light stabbing. As ya do. It’s a wild ride, but enjoyable. The visuals are excellent, the acting is fun if chewy, and the chemistry is good all round (for a KBL). I liked it for what it was, but what it was isn't to my personal taste.
Caged Again
(Thai 2025 WeTV)
A sweet and innocent show with an absurd premise = sunshine penguin + grumpy panther become human boys and fall in love. With great leads and sides, a solid (if campy) support cast, and soft queer backbone, this still never entirely resonated with me because it was just a little too slow. Still I can totally understand why others loved it so much.
Because of You
(Taiwan 2020 Viki)
It's been so long since I watched this all I remember is it's the story of 3 mafia-esk brothers and their various different forms of gay romance. All the tropes and different kinds of relationships (enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, whipping boy) are represented, and it is one of the first bilingual (Korean/Mandarin) and cross country production BLs. I liked it, but clearly not enough to ever rewatch it.
Began Beginning
(Burmese 2024 YT)
Childhood best friends must come to terms with their own identities and true feelings for each other when a new boy comes to town, putting them into conflict with their families and ultimately, each other. For the first half of this show there’s a lot of sitting and talking about life choices over yummy food and then going to tourist spots (mildly boring and not particularly important to the plot). It changed tone about 2/3 in to be way more of a coming out family drama about forced marriages and homophobia. And then at the very end it changed again, becoming a full on soap opera with kidnapping, crazy characterization shifts, and rescue missions. All in all? It was a wild raw creature to consume. No kisses since this is Myanmar, but a very romantic ending, so I think maybe actually worth your time? I'm certainly glad I watched it.
My Sweetheart Jom
(Thai 2025 YT)
A boy doesn't graduate high school for ruffian reasons and is exiled to the countryside where he falls in love with the chief of the local village (and there are lots more ruffians). While I enjoyed the second half of this show, I never got much chemistry (or even real affection) from the main couple. Also there was so much kidnapping. So much.
You CAN but do you really want to?
Irresistible Love: Secret of the Valet (China 2016 YT) - Exists in 2 parts/movies, 2nd movie has two alternate endings: a kinda happy and a definitely NOT happy, usually found grey on YouTube. I not-so-secretly love this BL: Kidnapping, stepbrothers, whipping boy, obsession, mutilation, very hard fought happy ending (in one version). Absolutely classic Chinese BL pre-censorship. It's a wild melodramatic ride. This is what all verticals now aspire to be.
Dangerous Drugs of Sex AKA Sei no Gekiyaku (Japan 2020 Gaga) - Erm, right, so this is a suicidal man kidnapped right before he jumps and then kept and sexually tortured (high kink) by a doctor for… reasons. Explicit. Ends “happy” by some people’s standards.
Beloved Enemy (China 2017 grey) - Censored bromance but not as much as normal because it's not happy. Okay I'll just list out the tropes: office setting, CEO elements, teacher/student dynamic, aggressive hyung obsession, extremely hard and rough tones, all sharp edges, includes kidnapping --> r!!pe and many triggers. We getting a remake supposedly in 2026-27. What joy is ours.
A Round Trip to Love (China 2016 grey) - murder gay 2 parts, obsession goes rotten in China’s favorite way: kidnapping, r!!pe, and uke sacrifices himself into death for the sake of his abuser. Because how else could it possibly go?
(Double Helix is a 2026 remake and right now it's not ended yet and I am very scared.)
Happy of the End (Japan 2024 Gaga) - Based on a manga, longer than usual JBL run time, about a boy is disowned for being gay, dumped by his boyfriend, and ends up in a dysfunctional co-dependant relationship with his would be kidnapper.
Tutoring My Enemy (Thai 2026 iQIYI) - "Push and James are sworn enemies at school. To earn money for his family, Push takes an off-campus job but is bullied by the motorcycle shop owner. Suddenly, a gang leader kidnaps Push and forces him to tutor his son. On his first day, Push discovers that the gang leader's son is none other than his nemesis, James." (Welcome of the brave new world of verticals - we love kidnapping here.)
