Random thoughts of some of my FE ships in a modern AU meeting their SO's families for the holidays.

Dimitri: So I need to warn you that my family can be... intense. My father and step-mother aren't too bad but... well you know the cliché of the Uncle with problematic views...? That's my Uncle Rufus.
Marianne: Well I'm sure we can just ignore whatever he says...
Dimitri: Well... you know how there's also one relative who can't resist debating with said Problematic Uncle? That would be my step-sister, El. And she's likely going to have her boyfriend Hubert with her who I've suspected may have tried to kill me when we were children

*Claude & Byleth talking excitedly about their families meeting.*
Byleth: *Thinking* Goddess, don't let my brother screw this up.
Claude: *Thinks* Gods, don't let my brother screw this up.

*Felix introducing Annette to his family*
Glenn: Okay I'm going to be perfectly honest. I always thought that if Felix EVER actually got a date, that they'd be a bodybuilder or something. But look at you!~ And you said you didn't like cute things, Fe.~
Annette: *Blushing*
Felix: *Five seconds away from punching his brother* Shut. Up. Glenn.
Inspiration has run a bit dry...cannot guarantee I can get to all but... :3c
SFW/NSFW ok, ships include Setleth or any combo of BL students/Byleth, Sylvix, Dimidue, Feliannie, Lumine/anyone (except Chil/de, sorry just not my cuppa)

Felix looked at himself in the mirror, fixing his tie before leaving his house to pick up Annette. He was hoping that she was ready for Ashe’s and Dedue’s wedding before he arrived at her place. He wasn’t really surprised when she wasn’t when he showed up. Especially not when she answered the door in her robe and a towel that was holding up her hair.
“Felix?” She asked, very shocked he was at her door. “Why are you here so early?”
“The wedding is in four hours and we still have to run some last minute errands,” he grunted as he walked into her house.
“No it’s not! It’s at 6pm!” She insisted, following him into the kitchen.
“It’s at 3pm,” he informed her, pointing at the invitation on her fridge.
“What?! No!” She refuted, plucking the paper off the fridge and holding it close to her face. “Ah!! How did I read that wrong! I will have to skip some stuff when I’m getting ready!”
Felix sighed as he watched her run into things when she went back to her room. As he waited for her, he messed with his phone. He rolled his eyes as he received some texts from Dedue.
“Annette,” he said, walking into her bedroom. “Are you ready yet? Dedue texted me saying that we need to pick him up from Gautier.”
“Oh crud!” She said, finishing up her make-up. “I just told Mercedes that we would pick up the cake in Daphnel.”
“Why would you do that?” He asked, pinching the bridge of his name. “That is an hour away.”
“Why isn’t Sylvain taking Dedue to his own wedding?” She asked, putting away her make-up. “He was the one that volunteered to do that.”
“He had something last minute come up,” Felix said, walking over to her to helping her put on an axe shaped necklace.
“What is he doing?” She asked him, holding up her hair.
“I don’t know,” he groaned. “The fool could never keep a promise.”
“Heheh, not because we want to,” she teased, taking his keys.
“Whatever, let’s just get Dedue first before we get everything else,” he suggested, taking his back from her. He was already stressed, he didn’t need her driving to make it worse. “Let’s make the cake the last thing to get.”
“Awe, why?” Annette pouted as she got into the passenger side of the car. “It’s the most important thing at the wedding.”
“Because it’s going to take the longest,” he informed her, getting in the car. As he turned on the car, she instantly took the aux cord and started to play her music. “The other errands won’t take as long. Since we are now getting the cake, we have to stop at my parents' place to grab my dad’s truck.”
“Fine,” she complained.
Luckily for him, his parents’ home wasn’t far from Annette’s so he wouldn’t lose too much time, or have to listen to her music style for very long. As he entered his parents house, he let out a sigh of relief when no one was home. Felix didn’t want to deal with anyone in his family, let alone Rodrigue, especially with Annette around.
He grabbed his father’s keys and the two switched cars. Felix was wrong, he was going to listen to Annette’s song style of Fairytale music the whole time. The only thing that was easing the pain was listening to her sing along with them.
Both of them walked into Dedue’s office building, not seeing anyone at the front desk. Felix placed his hands on the desk, tapping them constantly.
“Felix,” Annette said, placing her hands on his, making him stop.
“What?” He groaned.
“Stop that. They aren’t going to come any sooner if you keep tapping,” she informed him, catching his straggling fingers.
“We are in a rush. What is taking them so long,” he sighed, bending his body backwards to stretch his back.
“Just be patient,” she suggested.
“You know I can’t do that,” he reminded her.
“You are going to have to find some this time,” she said, letting go of his hands.
“Hello, Annette, Felix,” Dedue said, interrupting the conversation.
“Oh good. We can go,” Felix said, walking towards the exit.
“What’s with him?” Dedue asked, peering over to Annette.
“Lots of errands, very little time, and normal, everyday stress,” she explained, following her boyfriend.
“I’m surprised he doesn’t have any grey hairs yet,” he joked, following her.
“Me too,” she agreed.
“Thank you for picking me up and taking me to Fhirdiad,” Dedu thanked as they caught up with Felix.
Felix let out a grunt, the closest noise that will resemble a ‘you’re welcome.’
The car ride to Fhridiad still wasn’t a quiet one, Annette still sang all of her fairytale songs. He let out another grunt when Dedue got out of the truck as Annette waved goodbye to him. They went from city to city, grabbing the last of the wedding preparations.
“So we have the balloons, decorations, the rings,” Annette listed off as checkedit off on her paper. “The only things we need to get are the wedding cake and the wedding gift.”
“Where did you put the gift?” Felix asked, turning on the car.
“I didn’t get one,” she said, buckling herself up.
“Why not?” He asked, annoyed.
“You were supposed to get it,” she reminded him.
“No I wasn’t,” he insisted, shifting gears and driving.
“Yes you were,” Annette said irritably as she took out her phone. “You texted me, ‘I will get the gift so long as you pay for the balloons.’”
“I did not say that!” Felix doubled-down.
“Look at the phone,” she teased and shook the phone. “Oh wait! Don’t look at the phone! You’re driving!”
Felix rolled his eyes. “Fine. There is a gen store just up the street. We can go there.”
“Do you have any idea what to get them,” she asked, putting away her phone. “We can’t get them knives. Everyone will be buying them those.”
“A hotpot,” he informed her, driving them into the parking lot.
“A hotpot?” She muttered out.
“Yeah. Ashe has been talking my ear off ever since he saw the one I have,” he explained as they walked into the store. “Let’s be quick about this.”
Annette chuckled as Felix led her to the cookware section of the store. He quickly scanned the section, grabbing the same exact model, but in a different color.
“We should get going,” he rushed around.
“Hold on,” she said, stopping him. “We need to wrap this up.”
“Why? That seems like a waste,” Felix whimpered, stopping in his tracks.
“Because, it should be a surprise!” Annette explained, dragging him to the craft supplies.
“So? They are going to find one way or another,” he complained as he followed her.
“Doesn’t matter, we are doing it,” Annette stated, looking over the supplies.
Felix glared at one part of the section for what felt like two hours. He really didn’t have time for this.
“Okay! Done!” She said, showing him the supplies she picked out.
“Great, let’s go,” he said, rushing towards the registers.
Annette shook her head and sighed as they walked towards them.
As they walked over to the check-out lines, Felix began to slow down as he not only saw his father standing by the wedding planning aisle, but also his mother and mother. He seriously did not have time for this.
“Is everything alright?” Annette asked, placing her hand on his arm. “I thought we were in a rush.”
“We are,” he said, trying to turn around. “We will just go the long way, but running this time.”
“Why?” She asked, using her strength to keep him close to him.
“Right over there is my family,” he muttered.
“Where?” She chuckled, looking around.
Felix said nothing as his face began to heat up.
“Felix,” she smiled, softly.
By the time he said anything, it was too late, his family saw him. Felix jaw clenched as he sucked in air when they began to walk over.
“Well, well, well,” Rodrigue said, a smirk growing big on his face. “So this is the elusive Annette you are always talking about?”
“She’s even more pretty than you have described her,” Felix’s mother smiled.
“He-He talks about me?” Annette asked, feeling her face heat up.
“Oh, all the time!” Rodrigue’s smile growing bigger. “He says that you are the light of his life! The brightest star that ever shined in the midnight sky. Even brighter than the moon.”
“He also says your singing is even prettier than any nightingale birds,” his mother gushed. “He told us that when he is left to his dark thoughts, all he has to do is follow your voice and he is better again.”
“FELIX YOU EVIL MAN!” Annette screamed as she covered her crimson red face. She moved her finger a little to look at him in his eyes. “I never took you one as a poet.”
“I am not!” Felix blushed, turning his face. “They are just making it sound more flowery than from what I said!”
“Heheh, you are such a hopeless romantic deep down,” she laughed, slowly moving her hands down her face. She grabbed his shoulder, pulling him down to kiss his face. “You are so cute.”
“I am not!” Felix growled.
“Hehehe,” Felix’s mother chuckled. “You and your father are much alike.”
“We are not!” Felix refuted. He looked over to Rodrigue, glaring at his tearful face.
“I’m so happy to hear that,” Rodrigue cheerfully said, hugging his wife.
“Heheh,” she chuckled, returning the favor.
“You’re awfully quiet, Glenn,” Felix said, glaring at his brother. “What’s with that smug face of yours?”
“Eheheuhuehue,” Glenn softly laughed. “I didn’t think you could get a girlfriend, especially one as beautiful as her. I must admit, I’m surprised.”
“You’re a dick,” Felix said through gritted teeth.
“Glenn, be nice,” Rorigue gruffly said, placing his arm around Felix.
“Thank you,” Felix said, with a smug face. One that only a younger sibling could have.
“Who wouldn’t want to date your brother? He’s a precious catboy.”
Glenn and Felix both looked at Rodrigue with disgusted concerned looks.
“Do, do you know what you are talking about?” Glenn whispered.
Rodrigue’s face only became even more smug.
“Did you teach him that?” Glenn asked Felix, glaring at him.
“What? No! Why would I teach him that?” Felix said, glaring back.
“Hmph,” Glenn sighed.
Felix let out a groan as soon as his brother’s face quickly changed to something more jovial.
“Now where was I?” Glenn asked, smirking. “Oh, right! Embarrassing you.”
“Don’t,” Felix said, softly.
“So, Annette?” Glenn asked, looking over to her.
“Ye-Yes?” She asked, steeling herself.
“How did you two meet?”
“We-We met while we were at work,” she said, holding tightly on Felix’s arm.
“Oh, how did you guys get to know each other?” Glenn pried.
“He left his lunch box at work and I chased after him,” she kept saying.
Felix pinched the bridge of his nose, knowing exactly what story he was about to tell.
“Well, dear Annette, I have a story for you,” Glenn said, looking at Felix with a smug look.
“Oh boy,” Felix groaned.
“When he was about 7 years old, our lovely mother made him this nice big lunch,” he started, placing his arm around Felix. “He took it to school and when lunch time came around, he ate all of it. But he ended up getting so sick I had to come pick him up. He cried all the way home.”
Annette tried to stifle her laughter as she heard the story. “Heheh.”
“It got worse,” Glenn informed her. “He began crying even more when he realized that in the end, he left his lunch box at school.”
“Hmph, it was a nice lunch box,” Felix whined.
“Poor Felix,” Annette chuckled.
“It was so cute in the end,” Felix’s mother chimed in. “Rodrigue here calmed him down by singing to him. Felix and Glenn spent the night in the same bed.”
“Awe, that is adorable!” Annette said, looking over to Felix. “You must show me a picture of it! If you have one that is.”
“Oh, yes I do!” Felix’s mother cheerfully said, pulling out her phone. “Look at them!”
“Awe! Look at baby Felix! He is adorable!” Annette cheered.
Felix let out a long sigh as he laid on the ground. “I hate you guys,” he whispered out.
“Oh, you love us,” Rodrigue said, helping him up.
“Whatever,” Felix groaned, taking Rodrigue’s hand. “We must be going. We are going to be late for a wedding.”
“Oh,” Rodrigue sang as his eyes lit up. “Is it yours?”
“No!” Felix yelled.
“Ehuehuehue,” Rodrigue chuckled. “We are at the wedding invitations, we can pick one out for the two of you.”
“No, you fool,” Felix whined as Rodrigue dragged them all over to the invitations.
“We can do this blue one, or maybe the orange one!” Rodrigue suggested, taking the papers. “A spring wedding would fit you two perfectly.”
“Why are you like this?” Felix complained, feeling someone’s arms wrap around his neck.
“Awe!! My baby boy is all grown up!” His mother cried, holding him tighter. “I’m not ready for you to get married. You are much too young and I’m still not over Glenn being married!”
“Mooooom!” Felix groaned, prying her arms off of him.
He glared at the section in front of him as his whole family hugged him and Annette. He pried every last one of them off of him before taking Annette’s hands.
“We are leaving,” Felix said, taking Annette with him.
They finally paid for the wedding gift and made their way to Daphnel.
“Heheheh,” Annette chuckled as she put the box that Felix bought together.
“What?” Felix asked, glaring out the window.
“Your family is very lovely,” she smiled, carefully putting the hotpot into the box.
“I suppose,” he lulled out. “They are very embarrassing, especially my parents.”
“Heheh, better than the ones who are always bickering with each other,” she responded.
Felix said nothing more. He knew she was right. To have a family like them, ones that always talked, laughed, cried together, and to protect each other for whatever reason, was a gift.
“Hey Annette,” he softly said, grabbing her hand and curling his fingers between hers.
“Yes?” She asked, looking over to him.
“What would you say about joining my family,” he asked, kissing the back of her hand.
“What?” She asked, confused.
“Will you marry me?” He asked again.
“Wha-What?” Her voice getting a lot higher. She shuffled to grab their wedding gift that was by her feet, holding it for Felix to see, hoping that it would change the subject. “Look! Doesn’t this wrapping look great!”
“Yes, Annette,” he said, smiling softly.
He kissed the back of her hand before dropping the subject entirely.
The journey to and from Daphnel was a long one, but it was filled with Annette, and sometimes Felix, singing. They made it to the wedding venue just in the knick of time to drop off all the decorations, cake, and wedding gift. As they waited for the wedding to start, Felix looked around, finding that his family was also attending. He pinched the bridge of his nose when he saw Rodrigue smile and hold out wedding invitations. He shook his head and ignored his father, especially when the wedding began.
When the reception started, Annette insisted that they sit with Felix’s family. Much to Felix’s chagrin, his family regaled Annette with more stories when he was a child. Rodrigue even took out a family photobook of him in his childhood. It only made Felix bang his head against the table. To spare himself from more embarrassment, Felix grabbed Annette’s hand and led her to the dance floor.
“You know Felix,” Annette said, placing one arm in his hand and the other on his shoulder.
“Yes?” He asked, holding her hand and placing his free hand on her hip.
“I would love to marry you,” she smiled. “Maybe not today, but sometime in the future. Your family is so nice, so warm, and so accepting.”
“They are,” he agreed, twirling around. “And as far as I’m aware of, you have been part of this family as soon as we started dating. You are my family.”
“I love you Felix,” Annette said, standing on her tip-toes to give him a kiss.
“I love you too, Annette,” Felix said, leaning down to return the kiss.
I am a week late to post this to Tumblr, but I am finally able to post my gift for nlans for @netteflixhub NetteFlix Winter Exchange! dkajlf;sdkf when they listed embarrassing Felix, and then proceed to have Rodrigue (and Felix's family) do it, I went straight for it. This stuff is my jam. I had so much fun writing this fic, you have no idea.
