You had waited a respectable amount of time before reaching out to Felix. You waited a whole week. That was more than your husband would've done for you, and it was certainly more than he deserved.
Felix seemed pleased to hear from you, and he wasn't shy about showing it like your ex-husband had been. He had treated eagerness to see you with disgust, saying he wasn't an emotional guy and that you should get over it.
That was weird to you, because he sure was emotional when his football team won and even more emotional when they lost...
"So Sunday? 7 o'clock?" Felix asked, wanting to nail down a date.
"Sunday," you agreed.
"Perfect," he replied. You could hear him marking the date on his calendar. "I can't wait to see you again," he confessed, his voice dipping even lower.
"Me too," you answered, your heart beating giddily in your chest.
You could hear the chime on his door and knew someone had walked in. He inhaled apologetically but you decided to give him an out
"I've got to get dinner out of the oven, but I'll see you then."
"Have a good night," he said before hanging up the phone.
You stared at the cell in front of you almost in pain. Felix had been more attentive in that call than your ex had been in years. It almost made you cry...except that you'd determined you wouldn't cry over anything related to him anymore.
Instead, you stood straight, flattened your dress, and went to your closet to decide what to wear.
————————————————————————————
It was only three days between the call and Sunday, but it somehow felt like years. You picked up the phone to call him maybe twenty times to see if you could meet earlier, but you didn't want to scare him off.
You should've known that wasn't possible because at 5 o'clock you saw a car circle your house for the third time. You had been so excited that you'd been dressed for an hour already, so you decided to call Felix, to see if he was your vehicular stalker.
"Hello," he answered on the first ring.
Even the sound of his voice made you feel warm inside. "Hey," you grinned, nearly forgetting why you were calling until his blue truck circled again. This time you peeked out your window to verify it was him. The blonde hair flying out of the window gave him away. "Would you mind coming by early? Some guy keeps driving by my house."
"Oh! Umm...yeah, of course. Let me just..." he stuttered as he'd been caught.
"It's you, right?" you giggled, surprising even yourself by how light you sounded.
He sighed in shame. "Sorry. I just got ready and didn't know what else to do," he explained as he parked.
You stepped out of the house with your white dress on and a pretty blue purse. Felix got out of his car to open your door, but stopped short when he saw you. His eyes were soft and his smile wide as he reached for your hand.
"Wow," he breathed while holding a bouquet of sunflowers.
It had been a while since you received such a compliment, and you could feel your face growing warm. "Do you like it?"
Felix couldn't hide his reaction and he nodded as he twirled you over and offered the flowers. "You look beautiful."
"So do you," you grinned as you inhaled their scent deeply. You could feel your smile faltering in the joy of it all. Was it normal for things to feel so easy?
"What's wrong?" Felix asked, noticing right away.
You weren't sure of what was or wasn't normal. Felix certainly didn't feel normal compared to men you'd been around...he was better.
"Just wondering if white was a good decision on a dinner date," you joked as you stepped into the truck.
"It's perfect," Felix assured you before rounding the vehicle and starting it up.
The drive to dinner was exquisitely awkward. There were so many butterflies that you thought you might float out of the car. Whether you were eyeing his hand on the steering wheel or his pursed lips as he followed the GPS, you couldn't stop staring, and the blush crept up to your cheeks and ears every time he caught you.
You hadn't been paying attention on the drive, so when he suddenly rolled to a stop, you looked out in front of you to see the trees. "Where are we eating?" you laughed. There were no businesses in sight, just the woods and an empty lot.
Felix hopped out of the truck with a knowing smirk and opened the truck bed on his way to you. He helped you out and lifted his hand in the air to show you the view, "Tah dah!" he sang.
Behind the truck was a beautiful overlook with coursing rivers and a lush evergreen forest. "Wow," you breathed while reaching for his arm. This felt like the kind of view you were meant to enjoy with someone and that's exactly what you wanted to do.
"I also made us dinner," Felix said as he presented his truck bed which was filled with blankets and pillows as well as a cooler and picnic basket. "If you think this is completely stupid, I can drive us back to town for a normal dinner," he offered. "But I wanted to give you something more than a normal dinner at a normal restaurant."
Your heart fluttered as tears pricked your eyes. There weren't words to describe how perfect this was. He barely knew you and had gone through so much trouble just to make the evening memorable.
You turned to face him, and cupped his cheek adoringly, nearly melting at the way he closed his eyes.
"I love it," you whispered before leaning in and kissing him.
Felix's careful hands settled on your waist, respectfully holding you. His lips were soft and gentle, and though you started the kiss, he guided the pace. It was slow and romantic, and you could've kissed him for hours while savoring everything about him from his clear skin to his floral scent to the way he moaned sometimes before starting another kiss.
You saw your whole future in that kiss. You saw picnics and flowers and unashamed hand-holding. You could see the rocking chairs on the porch and the blueberry muffins in the morning. The kiss felt like home in a way you'd never felt before. It felt like you'd known him for years, but you still had so much to learn about him, and you decided that one night you'd stay up counting every single freckle just so you'd know absolutely everything.
Felix pulled back first and his face matched exactly how you felt. That kiss was more than a kiss.
He touched his lips as if in disbelief, and you smiled until it became a laugh at how insanely cosmic this all felt.
"I've never had a kiss like that before," he confessed while gazing at you in complete awe as if you controlled all the stars and the planets.
"Me neither," you told him before reaching for his hand. It felt wrong to be apart.
"Well," he inhaled through his teeth and shyly rubbed the back of his neck. "The dinner I made definitely won't compare," he teased.
"I'm sure it'll be amazing," you comforted him as he walked you to the truck. You tried to hop up by yourself but struggled a bit so Felix helped with a tight grip on your waist.
It was surprisingly comfortable with all of the blankets. Felix even turned some music on before joining you and presenting the meal options.
"I wasn't sure what you liked so I made a few things," he explained as he presented a club sandwich, salmon and mashed potatoes, and a pile of spaghetti and meatballs with breadsticks.
"I haven't had spaghetti in ages," you told him, your eyes lighting up while looking at the dish.
"It's yours," Felix decided as he turned over the container. He must've had a heater or something in the basket because it was still warm.
You took it happily as he opened the sandwich. You started with a breadstick that was so good you knew he had to try some. You offered him a bite and he smirked and bit into it, seemingly thrilled you volunteered to share. He'd glance up now and then as he took bites, and when you started on your spaghetti you couldn't believe how delicious the meatballs were.
"I think this is the best spaghetti I've ever had," you told him while forming another bite.
"It's exceptionally average, but thank you," he laughed.
"No, it's so good! Did you try any?"
Felix shook his head and you held your fork over your hand to offer him a meatball. Unfortunately, it rolled off the fork and onto your hand before bouncing onto your dress.
You gasped and Felix rushed to toss it out of the car so it wouldn't get on you anymore. There was a long red trail from your stomach to your hip where it had rolled off which ruined the dress you'd chosen so carefully.
Felix frowned at the stain and shook his head as he began dabbing it. "This is all my fault," he sighed. "You asked if white was the right color, and you just looked so beautiful that I wasn't thinking."
Normally, you'd be upset that a brand-new dress had gotten ruined. But his reasoning was so cute that you found yourself shrugging. "It's okay."
You could buy another dress.
"I can fix it. I have lemon juice and Sprite and I think those help a little, but I don't want to get you all wet," he explained.
"Do you have any clothes in your car?"
"Yeah," Felix answered as he lobbed himself over the side of the truck bed to grab some stuff from his backseat. "It's been back here for ages," he said as he collected items. "So why don't you put on this," he called as he pushed his shirt through the back window for you, and I'll change into something from the car."
Your heart was pounding at the thought of him seeing you.
"You'll stay in there?" you asked.
Felix stuck his head through the window and nodded. "I promise."
You decided it was worth it to clean the dress, and that it would be fun to wear Felix's light blue sweater. You unzipped the dress and shimmied it off while slipping on the sweater. You hadn't meant to see, but Felix was shirtless in the car and the visual was caught on the mirror. You looked away immediately, but you almost wished the shirt didn't fit him.
"Are you dressed?" he checked.
"Yes!" you answered, your voice raspy from the secret you now had. You tossed a blanket over your legs since the sweater was a little short just as Felix hopped back into the truck where every breath was met with his floral scent that now clung to your skin.
You thanked the heavens when you saw he was shirtless.
"I'm sorry," he said right away as if it were some horrible thing. "The shirt had a hole in it that I forgot about."
"It's okay," you told him. "It's a good look on you."
"And my sweater looks better on you," he complimented as he received the dress and gathered the stain bits. He took a hair tie from his wrist and secured the stain before opening a can of Sprite, pouring it into a glass, and submerging the tied fabric into the drink.
"And that works?" you asked.
"Lemon and tonic does and that's as close as we've got. When we get back to your house we can use some dish soap which will finish the job."
"Okay," you agreed and sat with your hands in your lap.
It was very apparent now that both of you were half-naked.
"Are you still hungry?" he asked as he put away his own dish
You shook your head. Your mouth had grown dry at the sight of him.
"Want to watch the sunset?" he asked. It was nearly 7 now which is when it was meant to go down.
You nodded and he moved beside you to gaze at the water. Your stomach was in knots and your chest felt heavy with nerves. Every inch he moved closer burned your skin. Nikola Tesla himself couldn't have figured out the currents flowing between you.
And then he put his arm around you, and every nerve, every anxious muscle...it all dissipated to nothing. It all felt cozy again and warm. You cuddled into his chest with a contented sigh, even placing your hand on his heart.
"This is nice," he mused as he looked down at you and back to the sunset. It glimmered off the water sending orange and pink everywhere.
"I think this is the best date I've ever had," you confessed. You refused to look at him as you spoke due to an insecurity around exposing vulnerabilities that you still hadn't gotten over. But Felix's thumb brushed your arm and you felt his lips on your forehead.
"Me too," he admitted. "And it's not even close."
You smiled at that and kissed his chest.
Felix kissed your temple.
You kissed his shoulder.
Felix kissed your cheek.
You kissed his neck.
And suddenly you were kissing that perfect kiss that made everything else fall away. Felix held your waist with one hand and cupped your cheek with the other. You settled for both hands on his chest until you decided to explore more.
You moved across his shoulders and down his arms.
He moved from your waist to your thigh where he urged it apart just enough for you to tell what he wanted.
You straddled him, and rolled your hips as the kiss progressed from romantic to passionate. What had started out as a slow, deep need was quickly becoming an explosion of desire.
Felix's hands trailed up the bottom of the sweater, settling on your hips which he guided back and forth until you could feel him grow hard beneath you.
It certainly hadn't been your intention to fuck him...but oh fuck, did you want to fuck him.
"Off," you complained breathlessly while trying to remove his jeans. Felix smiled into the kiss and freed his cock. You moved your panties aside and aligned him perfectly before sinking down.
For the first time, the kiss separated, as you both moaned with parted lips.
"God you're perfect," he grunted as his hand rose him and down the length of your torso. You knew he was hesitating to touch your chest so you guided his hand up. He immediately palmed it and flicked his thumb on your sensitive nub.
You whined and buried your face in his neck where you left more kisses.
Felix reached for the hem of the sweater, and you pulled back with a deep breath to allow him to take it off. You’d been afraid of this, but Felix didn’t seem bothered at all. In fact, he leaned in and pressed a kiss to your stomach and then your chest. You moaned and held his head close until he began sucking your nipple.
It was more than pleasure, relief flooded through you as the pressure went away. Felix popped off and moved to kiss you slowly while palming your thighs.
“How far along are you?” he asked.
“Eight months,” you told him. He had a little dribble of milk on his chin but you swiped it away with a pitiful smile. “If we’re too much to take on…” you began, but Felix was already shaking his head.
“You’re not too much,” he promised. “You’re perfect.”
He leaned in again, kissing you even slower as you rode him. Felix’s cock felt so warm and it began to twitch the faster you moved. You couldn’t kiss him anymore as whimpering became the primary focus of your mouth.
Felix latched on to your other breast and squeezed it softly while sucking milk from you again. Anyone else would’ve been repulsed but he saw you needed relief and he was happy to give it to you.
You gripped his shoulders for balance and rode him until it burned your thighs. Felix was so close that he had to take breaks from sucking on your breast, and you finally pleaded with him to take over.
He guided you to lie down and snapped his hips forward and back until the truck was squeaking. You cried from how good it felt, and he pressed his lips to yours for one final kiss before he spilled into you.
You gasped in surprise, expecting him to quit, but as he came, Felix rubbed your clit and rolled his hips until finally it was too much and you spilled onto him as well.
You gasped and clutched him close while he kissed all of the horrors of life away until everything was one big sunshine. He pulled out and laid beside you as you gazed up at the stars while catching your breath. You didn’t have anything else to wish for, so you squeezed his hand and cuddled close.
“Is it a girl or a boy?” he asked as his arm embraced you.
“A girl,” you smiled at him. You’d tried not to find out until your ex could go with you to the appointments. One day you decided he wouldn’t ever come, and you’d told him in a fight. He hadn’t even cared and had just asked when dinner would be…
Felix’s eyes sparkled when you told him. “She’s already the luckiest little girl on the planet.”
“Why’s that?” you laughed.
“Because she’s got you as a mom,” he said before placing another kiss on your waiting lips.
