Dear Distinguished Writer,
may this electronic letter aid you and inspire you as you are preparing to write a short story for me. I will tell you a bit about myself, the franchises I chose and the characters to give you a better picture of what I would like to read.
My name is Aneta; I am twenty-seven years old, Polish, a bit naive and a bit bitter. Over a year ago, I returned to playing video games and, disappointed in several events in them, started writing fanfiction. I want to forget about my repetitive work and conservative society; therefore, I play and write. In fiction, I look for adventure, strong friendship and likeable characters. I tend to skip narrative descriptions of places when I deem their length unnecessary. I also prefer exploring dark and serious themes by myself, so your task this October, November, and December is to bring me peace and joy.
Now, I will proceed to my requests and the fandoms I chose.
First, I chose Viconia DeVir from Baldur’s Gate because, in my strong opinion, game developers mistreated her as a character, missed several opportunities for her development, and even made her spoken lines inconsistent throughout campaigns.
Baldur’s Gate is set in a fictional, fantastic universe with Medieval-esque technology, magic, dozens of races and deities. I mention the iron crisis in my request; it is a plot propeller in the game, not necessarily required for your assignment. If you do decide to mention it, here is my explanation, without spoiling the game: for an unknown reason, the quality of iron worsened, which makes non-enchanted weaponry and armour break faster.
Viconia (a fanart) is a dark elf who escaped her homeland due to house wars and her conversion to another goddess. She begins as a proud and selfish person, unable to sympathize and ignorant to other customs. I really, really want her to change her ways, and I wish she experienced no persecution, unlike in the canon. She speaks in a dignified, elegant manner. I specifically noted in the request, “She is NOT in a relationship” because of the poor writing decisions on a scriptwriter’s part.
Second, I discovered that Revolutionary Girl Utena was nominated by a fan. While I abandoned Japanese animated media out of disappointment, I believe Utena is one of a few great works worth watching. I remembered that Anthy Himemiya (a screenshot) (set of gif files) and Wakaba Shinohara (set of screenshots) do not get along in both comics and the TV series because of their clashing personalities. I think the first two episodes, one-third of episode three and episode twelve will help you if you are not familiar with the franchise. In the comics, Wakaba and Anthy have a picnic and Wakaba freaks out over Anthy’s miniature monkey (Chu-chu), calling her an alien. It makes me cringe when I think about it.
I would like both of them to acknowledge their differences and accept them without hurting each other or forcing each other to change drastically. This request might be difficult due to Anthy’s complexity, which is revealed piece by piece throughout the series.
Third, I need a prequel short story for Neverwinter Nights, where Aribeth de Tylmarande (a picture) and Fenthick Moss (a picture) simply coexist. The game is set in the same universe as Baldur’s Gate except in a different city and four years later. Aribeth is a paladin and Fenthick is a cleric; they revere the same god, Tyr (he was partially based on Odin); they are in a relationship; their personalities are very paper-thin before the plot of the game affects them. From what I can gather, Fenthick is kind, gentle, helpful, and trustful; Aribeth is elegant and devoted to bringing justice. Let them be together. Let them enjoy their free time.
That would be all. Thank you for the time you have spent on reading my requests and will spend writing the stories for me.
