I wrote three fics for the lovely @portwinestains, who is the best and who I in no way intentionally set out to emotionally destroy. They’re all DoomReed. I had never written DoomReed before, but it was really fun and I loved writing these and I loved writing for @portwinestains.
Night Blooms, rated T, 7.8k. Warnings for some emotional infidelity. Based heavily off of Marvel Two-In-One #11.
“Dad,” Valeria said sleepily, her arms wrapped around his neck. She yawned, sticking her face against his throat. “Why do you smell like Latverian orchids?”
“And how, young lady,” Reed asked, opening the door to her room and laying her down on the bed, “do you know what Latverian orchids smell like?”
“Uncle Doom keeps them,” Valeria said, rolling over onto her side. Reed pulled the blankets up over her. “He loves his orchids.”
She said it with a note of scorn. Reed huffed softly.
“Well,” he said, running a hand over her blonde hair. It always struck him, how much she looked like Sue. He remembered the first time he’d seen her – not this her, but the soul that Franklin had tucked away in that alternative universe, to keep safe and grow. Valeria Von Doom, the Marvel Girl. “Everyone has to love something, don’t they?”
“Even Uncle Doom?” Valeria asked, teasing.
“Even Uncle Doom,” Reed replied, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear. “Sweet dreams, Val.”
Reed visits the Doom of Universe P-1837 again, and again, and again.
A Latverian Affair, G, 2.3k. The Council of Reeds deals with a difficult member.
“Welcoming a new Reed? Without me?” a familiar voice – his own – said as they rounded the corner.
There was another Reed leaning against the wall, his arms crossed and his hips canted. His hair was slicked back, giving his narrow face an aristocratic cast, and there was a single emerald stud in one of his ears. He wore slim fitting green and silver armor with a long green cape that pooled elegantly to the floor. It was clasped by a brooch bearing a familiar armored face.
“Oh for the love of the unstable molecule,” said Reed-4820, slapping a hand to his forehead. “Okay, who told him this was happening today? Reed-6590?!”
“I’m sorry!” cried Reed-6590 through his flames. “He just – he makes me nervous!”
Reed cleared his throat and attempted to salvage what was apparently quite an awkward situation.
“Hello. I don’t think we’ve been introduced yet,” he said, extending his hand. “I’m Reed Richards of Earth 616. And you are?”
“Charmed, of course,” said the new Reed. He smiled pleasantly and not at all unlike a shark. “I’m Reed Von Doom.”
“Oh,” said Reed, helplessly.
“I’m the Reed who’s married to Victor Von Doom,” said Reed Von Doom, helpfully.
“Yes, Reed-313,” said Reed-4820, harshly. “I think he got that.”
Put A Spell On You, Explicit, set during extremely early Fantastic Four canon. Doom and Reed have sex, for magic reasons.
“This is just like college all over again,” Reed grumbled under his breath. “Take your clothes off.”
“Excuse me?” Doom said, sounding affronted.
“Your clothes,” Reed said, starting on his own. He stripped off his gloves first, then shucked the top half of his Fantastic Four uniform, folding it neatly and setting it aside. “Even if the spell didn’t dictate otherwise, I wouldn’t have sex with you in that armor. We can use your cape like a blanket.”
“I – yes, that’s wise,” Victor said, unfastening it from his throat. He held it out and Reed took it from him, laying it on the ground and smoothing it out. The velvet was soft under his hands, much more comfortable than the cold stone floor.
“I do have my moments,” Reed said. “I believe even you’ve acknowledged them in the past.”
“You obviously misinterpreted me,” Doom said. He shed his gauntlets and unbelted his tunic, letting it fall to the floor with a strangely regal sort of carelessness. Underneath he looked almost like a fairy tale knight with his shining armor, and Reed had to remind himself that that was far from the truth.
Doom reached up, and then abruptly stopped. He stood there, frozen, like a suit of armor in a castle hall.
“Victor?” Reed asked, stepping close. Then he realized why Doom had stopped; the time had come for him to take off his mask.
I feel so lucky to have gotten such great fics and to have gotten Aysha as my recipient! What a great Yuletide.
