fern: pfft, no. i love your kids and janie, but i think i’ll stick to being the cool aunt, thanks. now answer my question.

fern: it might be a tiny ass food stand, but they make some awesome curry.

kyoji: i’ll be the judge of that.

there’s a moment of silence between them that fern doesn’t see as an issue until kyoji speaks up again.

kyoji: by the way... i’m leaving school.

fallon: it’s actually going pretty well. it’s a challenge, sure, but you know how much i love challenges. besides, there’s sense of familiarity whenever an issue arises. it’s almost like i’ve had to stop a kid from doing something dumb before...

fern: shut up! as if you could ever stop me.
