Legendary comics writer Jim Shooter has merged with the infinite after a long battle with cancer. Probably best known to DC fans for his work on the Legion Of Superheroes, he leaves behind a legacy of creativity and world building. Here are some of the many characters that he co-created at DC!

Mid-1980s Legion of Super-Heroes by John Byrne and Karl Kesel, from Superman (vol. 2) #8 (August, 1987).

It is based on an earlier pin-up of the LSH by Greg LaRocque and Larry Mahlstedt that was presented over in the Legion's own book.

The Byrne/Kesel version omits some Legionnaires, most notably Supergirl, who had died in Crisis On Infinite Earths, and whom Byrne would not reintroduce into his continuity - albeit in a different form - for another year.
