RUBY & THE RIB CAGE - DANDELION (Live Session)

Our Editor saw this London-based 5-piece at Suffolk’s Festeaval over the weekend and has since been excitedly proclaiming them his New Favourite Band.  Expect some gushing words of praise very shortly – in the meantime, here’s a video wot they done for The Mahogany Sessions.  No, they are not amplified.  Yep, her voice really is that astonishing.

SUFFOLK GETS SET FOR BASTILLE DAY

Tall-haired internet cred-pop sensation Bastille brings his UK festival tour to Suffolk this spring.

Bastille – Dan Smith to his Mum – rose to internet prominence after a video on the internet for his song Flaws (cobbled together from bits of Terence Malick’s classic pre-internet 1973 Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek-starring non-internet crime thriller Badlands) became an internet hit on the internet with people who like to look at things on the internet.

Bastille will be at Festeaval in Woodbrige on Friday 4th May plugging his first single proper, Overjoyed, which is released online and in shops on 30th April.  Splendidly, the 12” vinyl version of Overjoyed comes in a special collectors’ box intended to house further Bastille vinyl releases over the next few months.  At B-Side we like a man who likes vinyl, and we like a man with a plan.

TURIN BRAKES & BETH ORTON UNVEILED AS FESTEAVAL LIFTS THE SHROUD

Super-nice acoustic weekender Festeaval returns to Suffolk this Summer with Turin Brakes and super-lovely singer-songwriter superstar Beth Orton topping the bill.

Festeaval – so-called because it’s a FESTival which takes place next to a TEA hut, presumably run by someone called VAL* – is unique in that it’s almost certainly the only festival in the World where the main stage folds out of a converted VW Camper Van.

Also confirmed to play are Artwork, Bastille, Kal Lavelle, B-Side faves Jake Morley and Antonio Lulic, Fiona Bevan, Ryan Keen, Sam Brookes, Smoke Feathers, Nova's Basement, Kevin Pearce, Tiny Dragons, Ben Osborne, Andy Johnson and Al Lindsay, with plenty more acts expected to be announced over the next few weeks.

Festeaval takes place at Woodbridge Tea Hut between 4th-7th May 2012.  Advance tickets are £15 per day or £55 for the whole weekend (£60 on the gate).  For more details, keep an eye on www.festeaval.co.uk
