Ok but… can we just appreciate the parallels between Ritsuka potentially qualifying as an Avenger and Mash potentially qualifying as a Ruler but both of them rejecting all that jazz and actively choosing to move forward with their human hearts intact, battered and bruised as they are?

Hello there! Could we get a part 2 of the mash and Barghest angst on valentines? (I think it was the ultimate puppeter who made the first request) However in the second part the Reader is starting to move on from said characters and is falling in love with someone else. As time goes on they are treating them coldly but politely. Like a stranger that shared a few good memories. (When the characters (Barghest and Mash wants to talk to the reader maybe said characters caught the reader kissing someone else?)

Warnings: Angst, Heart Break, Unresolved Emotions, Break Up Feelings

Barghest:

Contrary to what everyone says, she notices the moment you start to pull away. Barghest doesn’t know exactly how to approach you; if she pushes too hard you might turn away and if she ignores you, that isn’t any better. She tries her best to talk to you; she’s awkward and looming but she is trying. You give her polite smiles but stop spending extra time with her. It makes her heart ache, but she ignores it. The two of you will talk again soon.

When she turns a corner and sees you kissing someone else, she freezes. She’s at war with herself; does she engage? Does she leave? Her anger makes the decision for her; as angry as she is, she doesn’t want to hurt you. After that, she avoids you as much as possible. If the two of you happen to be in the same room, she gives a polite nod but won’t speak. Everyone else knows something is going on, but no one is brave enough to approach. Better to let the affection die than drag her feelings through the mud.

Mash:

It takes her a little bit to notice you’re not sitting with her at lunch. Usually, you walk with her between meetings but you’re missing when she looks for you. Mash tries her best to stay positive. Missions have been frequent and you must be busy too. The longer you avoid her, the more unsure she becomes. She waits and watches for a few weeks before approaching you, and by then it’s too late.

You’re kissing someone Mash only half sees; she looks long enough to understand, long enough to feel horrified and then she’s gone. People see a blur as she runs through the hall, calling out in concern. She doesn’t stop until she’s safe in her room, tears running down her cheeks. Everything hurts and it’s a heartbreak she’s never felt before. Her Master has to come get her when she doesn’t show for a few days. Mash is easy to read; she’s hollow compared to before and no one has a good solution.
