hi all! I was reminiscing about fic awards from decades prior when I realized I could just run one myself. so without further ado, I present to you:

point blank 2026 fic awards, a cassandra cain-centric fic award dedicated to a fan-favorite cassandra cain-centric fic that wins fan voting! to avoid hostility, this will NOT be done via tumblr poll, but via anonymous google form voting. also, ALL propaganda must be positive & uplift all creators involved.

Last Year's Fanwork Awards are officially over!

All works have been bookmarked to the Ao3 collection, and hopefully all available winners have been reblogged on tumblr as well - if your post of a winning work hasn't been reblogged yet, let us know!

We had over two hundred nominated fanfiction in 30 categories with 47 winning works in first place (some having the same amount of votes makes it more than the amount of categories), an additional thirty first-place winners in the art, gif and video categories, and over 70 different winning creatives in the first through third places of all the categories! Congrats, everybody!

All nominated and winning fanfiction can be found in the bookmark section of the Ao3 collection linked below:

You can filter it for winners and nominations, and for the different categories (if you can't find the category you are looking for in the suggested bookmarker's tags, go to 'exclude tag' and exclude the category tags with more works, click filter again and it should suggest you new bookmarker's tags now - be careful to only exclude the category tags like 'AU' and not 'winners' 'nominees' and the first-third places, as that would exclude all fics)

We hope everyone had fun in this event meant to show appreciation for the fandom's creatives, find new favorites and rediscover old fics, and get some inspiration going! Most events are for creator participants only, we thought it would be great to get everyone involved in nominating and voting for their favourite works. Of course there are other great works as well - the winners just happen to be the favs of the people who voted!

Nomination Categories

Through August and September, nominations for the Fanwork Awards on the Femslash Guard Discord Server are open!

You can nominate different things such as:

fanfiction

fanart

manips

videos

comments on your fanworks

moodboards, memes, meta and more

These groups are split up into many more categories, you can find them all on the discord server! They're also separated by sfw and adult content, so minors can be part of the event but everything can still be nominated somewhere.

Until nominations close on the 20th of September, we will introduce a few of the categories to you in more detail, and you can join the server or follow @theoldguardfemslashdiscord to hear about them and show the categories that haven't gotten many nominations yet some love!

You could run a fic award like the headcanons games you make on discord o.o

Hmmm on the one hand yes, I could think of a number of fandoms I'm in that don't seem to have any fic awards yet, and the game show style I run the headcanon games in would make it a lot easier than, like, a full event with panel selection or whatnot, but on the other hand...

The way I run the headcanon games, they're elimination games, and I'd feel kind of mean, voting against and eliminating the nominated fics?

What could be done instead is letting people hand in nominations and then make one big discord poll via emoji selection to get the highest voted one?

Would be less of a game-event thing of course, but I think more fair and less anxiety inducing for ppl whose fics got nominated.

If you're still interested in the reworked idea, do drop the anon and come into my inbox with the fandom you're in, so we can work something out! Might be a while yet tho until I can organize it, I'm quite stressed with irl things atm, plus there's the @discoveryfemslashfortnight at the end of the month to consider as I'm one of the mods there as well.

you may only send in your nominations and vote one time. but up to three writers/stories can be sent per category for your nominations

the official ballot with the finalists will be posted monday, may 4th.

one winner will be selected from each category.

the winners will then be announced monday, may 18th.

the fic can be as old or recent as the writer/reader likes.
