I watched Danny phantom a LOOooong time ago but I've started snooping around the Danny phantom tag here on Tumblr and was wondering what fics I should read If I wanted to get more into the fandom. Any suggestions?
Oh totally, these are mostly the fandom classics where basically everyone has already heard of it.
Mortified by Five-rivers on fanfiction dot net/Marsalias on Ao3, it's a huge fic that tries to use every possible trope and still make the whole thing coherent. It's basically the Iliad mixed with the odyssey of this fandom;
Phantom of Truth by HaiJu on fanfiction dot net, it's the most popular of the entire dissection fic genre (even if I would not call it a dissection fic, exactly) where Danny gets captured by the GIW and Maddie, who works for them, unknowing that he's her son, experiments on him, it has a sequel Shadow of a Doubt that I didn't finish, but it's the aftermath of the fic that changed my brain chemistry;
Checkmate by Pearl84 also on fanfiction dot net , I'll admit it, I never actually finished this one, but it is really good, also it's like another massive one. So don't try to read it on one go;
These are, like, just the ones I can think off the top of my head that are complete must read for who wants to join the phandom BUT I do have some of my personal favourites and ones I didn't finish because I have a negative attention span, but I read a bit.
Tomophobia by Kimcat on ao3, it was made for the invisobang of 2024 and is probably one of the most recent fics here, I joined the phandom all the way back in 2022 lol. it's a pretty popular one, and it's really good even if I didn't finish reading;
Something's wrong with Danny fenton byGhostly_Cabbage on ao3, it was made for Invisobang as well in 2021 and essentially: it's a no one knows au where danny is a tranfer student. I honestly refuse to let it die, I'll reccomend it to everyone I can;
Everything was white by lexosaurus on ao3 here we have pure angst of the best of kinds, it IS hurt/no comfort but honestly, you should already have expect that;
The case study of Wes Weston by Karcutie also on ao3 , unfortunately, this is a fic is only available for archive members and it was never finished but it's still good and well, I really like Wes, I have a post explaining him but at this point I might as well make another one;

The Life and Death of Danny Phantom by liketolaughMaddie makes a connection between Danny and Phantom, still having some misunderstandings;
Epiphany by TorScrawls it has some claasic Fenton Parents' A+ parenting, and it comes in the same vein as the previous fic;

til death do us part - @8plasma this fic had me SOBBING, it’s so sad but so good. i adore the writing in this and it really let me get a much needed cry out.
soft hands, soft smiles, soft kisses, soft hair, soft hearts - @justabitqueer this is so so so comforting, especially after a bad day or on a day when you just feel down. i find myself rereading this a lot, it’s so good.
slipping lately - @8plasma again just wow, this fic is phenomenal and i reread it a lot. this makes me feel so comforted. the way they write nat is always so so so good.

He’s been cast as the Cavelier to the Sugarplum Fairy in his Performing Arts School’s production of The Nutcracker. It’s a big deal and it’s going to take up a good bit of time but… he’s just not sure he’s ready for his mentor to know about that particular hobby just yet.
He’s sure it’ll be fine …
All he has to do is show up at the studio on time, keep his grades up, make sure to see Tony on a regular enough basis that he doesn’t worry and try to squeeze in some patrolling in between. It’s that simple. Right?

It doesn’t take long for Peter to be diagnosed with nothing more than some mild dehydration and a nasty stomach bug. However, knowing she can’t take Peter to just any hospital should things go downhill, leaves May feeling a little nervous.…And that’s how Peter and May end up spending the holiday with Tony Stark in his Penthouse apartment.
