The Emperor of the Night from "Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night"

Despite being from an otherwise deeply flawed filmation ripoff of Disney's Pinocchio (and basically just being red-Chernybog) The Emperor of the Night is rather impressive.

You just don't beat James Earl Jones. In his prime his voice was unlike any other and it's why he got the roles he did.

Beautiful satan man. Take me home, evil fairygodfather. I'll be your trophy wife.

Single shade of Blue

Fanart/crackship friday again. Moonbeam from Happily Ever After and Emperor of the Night from Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night, both of which are filmmation pseudo sequels to classic Disney movies.

Inspired by Phelous's reviews of these films. In them he jokes that Moonbeam and EotN would be mortal enemies and that caused me to go off and make this absurd fan-story of enemies to lovers about these two movies I don't even particularly like that much.

FRAIDY CAT (East West DVD, 2005)

     While at my local thrift store about a month ago, I stumbled upon a bunch of discs by dollar-store fly-by-night company East West, including Looney Tunes, Rankin-Bass' The Hobbit, and other titles that I doubt are as public domain as they'd like (us) to think. (More on that label in months to come!)      Among the discs was Fraidy Cat, a character I'd only heard of by seeing his name listed on various multi-toon DVD sets I'd not yet gotten around to seeing. So, despite the show having been around as long as I'd been, this was my first time watching it.      This is a silly show, but given my nostalgia for the Filmmation style of animation, I was charmed. The concept of a cat being both aided and burdened by the ghosts of his past lives is certainly a unique concept. (In the right hands, it could make for an amusing video game!) I also enjoyed hearing veteran voice actors Lenny "Pufnstuf" Weinrib as the ghosts, and Alan "Skeletor" Oppenheimer as Fraidy Cat.      It's a shame that the show never fully caught on in the mid-'70's (hence its slip into the public domain), since it would make for a fun fan art mashup with "Doctor Who", with the previous eight lives of Fraidy Cat all dressed up as the "classic-era" Doctors!      (Also included here: A selection of Amazon and Ebay photos of Fraidy Cat on VHS in 1994 & 1995, and on DVD in 2002 & 2004.)
