Samson by Regina spektor RadioApple
This song has been churning in my head nonstop for the past 2 days so of course I have made it Radioapple flavoured 📻🍎
I know a lot of people believe the song is supposed to represent Delilah’s perspective of Samson in the bible… but holy crap it fits so GODAMN PERFECTLY and could easily be seen through Alastor’s eyes.
I guess it could be seen as a kind of AU where Lucifers original title was Sam/Samuel/Samson, Alastor found and watched over him in his depression for 7 years, this would be their goodbye.
You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth [Alastors unspoken chains holding him back]
I have to go, I have to go [Lucifer berating himself for not being able to rule over hell and care for his daughter]
Your hair was long when we first met
Not much hair left on his head
He ate a slice of Wonder Bread
And went right back to bed
And the history books forgot about us [Alastor being forgotten on earth after his death]
And the Bible didn't mention us [Hinting towards Lucifer being ignored by heaven]
And the Bible didn't mention us, not even once [and that it’s probably for the best]
You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the stars came fallin' on our heads [Remembering the countless attacks from heaven]
But they're just old light, they're just old light [Reminding Lucifer heaven is in the past and to look forward]
Your hair was long when we first met
Told me that my hair was red
Oh, I cut his hair myself one night
A pair of dull scissors in the yellow light
And he told me that I'd done alright
And kissed me 'til the mornin' light, the mornin' light
And he kissed me 'til the mornin' light
Not much hair left on his head
He ate a slice of Wonder Bread
And went right back to bed
Oh, we couldn't bring the columns down [Mentioning their failed attempts at trying to discreetly negotiate with heaven]
Yeah, we couldn't destroy a single one [Laughing at the stupidity of heavens council]
And the history books forgot about us
And the Bible didn't mention us, not even once
You are my sweetest downfall
