What do you think of DMC2?
give me a game with weird (shit) mechanics and i make it my job to get wayyyy too into the combat . i unironically find it extremely fun + adore the landscapes/colours of the game.
However i have yet to complete lucia’s route bc i’ve had #NoOpportunity to. the ps5 has been on lockdown for god knows how long. i’m a fake lucia fan but i swear i’m getting to it </3
the story itself is a genuine fever dream to me despite how relatively simple it is and every time i want to remember exactly what happened i have to google it and read a synopsis/reddit theory thread/tumblr analysis . LMAO
matier and lucia’s whole deal is really interesting to me conceptually, and dante himself is such a strange little bugger. which again, i find myself really liking. it’s a very specific take on him and, to the disappointment of many a fan, shows that dante’a personality can be extremely volatile. he is prone to serious bouts of depression. obviously his lack of character is more so a foundational issue within the actual game design, but i like looking at the implications of it on his character. like, yeah, capcom fucked it up, but what if we took those flaws seriously for a moment/considered it intentional within the story of the game?
broadly speaking in each game dante is largely an entirely different person but still with the same values, and i find that despite its (many) flaws, dmc2 really emphasises that. arius is questionable. big fan of the classic [King? Yeah, here’s your crown] from dante, though. LOL
i also fucking hate Trismagia. it’s not even difficult. it’s time consuming . and it makes me very angry
also!!!!! i really wish beryl was actually IN the game, i really like her :( dmc2 novel is strange and i haven’t read it in moooonths so i remember next to nothing,,, but man
