In your early emerge atla au, do the fire babies get captured at one point? And Azulon, in denial that one of his sons would be a traitor, fully believes that Aang amd the rest of the Team Avatar brainwashed Iroh and the other fire babies?

Azulon would never accept that Iroh was a traitor.
Since nobody knows what powers the avatar has, he would probably blame brainwashing or something for Iroh's desertion. (After all brainwashing does exist in the avatar universe since the Dai Lee used it)
Azulon wouldn't decide on brainwashing unless Iroh had already refused to return to the fire nation after being given a chance to "escape" the Avatar.
The other two fire babies are in a slightly different situation.
-Piandao is a nonbending teen so he would be branded as a traitor very quickly despite his skill with a sword.
-Jeong Jeong is another difficult case for Azulon to solve. Too blatantly pro-avatar to accept, but too much of an a potential asset to throw away that easily.
If they are captured (and if we're honest about typical atla plots, they will be) then it would depend on who caught them as to how they would be treated (except Iroh, he's the crown prince)
Azulon claiming that they were brainwashed would save their lives, but just barely.
