Zuko had endured wounds that should have killed him more than once. Yet none of those things had ever made his heart ache quite like seeing fear in Kya's eyes. She was only thirteen. She should have been worrying about bending practice, teasing her brother, sneaking extra sweet rice cakes from the kitchens—not standing beside her father's sickbed wondering whether he was going to die.

His hand, still weaker than he cared to admit, reached for hers, the lingering effects of the venom making every muscle feel heavier than stone, but moment his fingers curled around hers, he gave them a gentle squeeze.

“Kya...” His voice was rough from days of fever and the medicines the healers kept forcing down his throat, but there was warmth in it all the same. “I'm going to be okay.” He let the words settle before he continued, unwilling to lie to her but equally unwilling to let fear become the thing she remembered most about this day.

“The poison was bad and there were moments your mother and the healers were… very worried.” A faint, apologetic smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. “I know you saw more than you should have.”

As long as you are yourself , and you rule the nation how [ [ you ] ] want to rule it , you will be the [ [ perfect ] ] Fire Lord .❞ Her lips pulled into a little brighter smile , ❝ And I will be so incredibly [ [ proud ] ] of you , the day you take that throne . I am the Fire Lady to the Fire Nation , little Amaruq , but I am [ [ also ] ] a proud Waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe , and serve as the Ambassador to my People , and my community . If I can sit on the throne next to your Father , and serve this nation proudly as a Waterbender , I know that you will have [ [ no ] ] problem being the Fire Lord . ❞

Katara reached forward to gently tap her daughter on the nose , then , as laughter swam through her next words . ❝ Besides , your Father has been the Fire Lord for a long time , already . I think he's ready for a little vacation . ❞

Kya beamed when she saw her grandmother sitting in the palace gardens. The thirteen-year-old raced over to her, hopping into her arms. "Gran-Gran! You're back!"

"Oh it's so good to see you, my sunshine" Ursa greets Kya softly, squeezing her tight. Had not realized just how much she had missed her grandchildren until one was wrapped warm and safe in her arms. Has to force herself to pull away the girl, but not before planting a single kiss carefully on her forehead. "I promise to make up for the time we've lost "

Toph could only lift an eyebrow at her demands , quite frankly kya's orders are easy to follow. The Metalbender could just drop everything && leave for the day — prioritize more important agenda that was listed on her busy schedule , unfortunately for her however, Toph had promised to both katara && zuko that as long as the future firelord kya is inside the premises of republic city , she would keep her safe , other than that it's also her responsibility as the chief of police , so toph didn't budged && remained at her kya's side. Her posture is perfectly erect && professional, There is no slouching even if her task is as mundane as this.
