Okay I'm pretty sure that everyone already knew this and I just noticed now.

One of the things that didn't make sense to me was Firm man suddenly loosing his powers. At the time we didn't really understand how trust worked and it didn't make sense to me why he would suddenly loose his powers since none of his fans stopped believing in him, I mean it wouldn't make sense why they would all together stop believing in him in the first place.

But now that we are in episode close to the last episode I get it now.

Heroes can choose to stop being heroes.

For example in Ahu's episode he didn't have any powers until he accepted that he could be a hero and accepted the girls power. (forgot her name.) And someone here has said that thsu implied that people can become heroes if they accept trust and belive in themselves to be a hero.

Since Heroes can accept being heroes then that means Heroes can stop being Heroes.

For Firm man he stayed being a Hero because he thought it was his responsibility to be a hero. Even when he started having problems with it he still held onto the belief that it was just the price of being a Hero. But once Wolf girl told Firm man to bring him him back, to bring back the fireman that saved her, and also realizing that she did all this to set hi free, he finally gave up the responsibility to be a Hero.

We can also use Lin Ling as an example, he was able to receive Nice's trust and be a hero because he believed that he was a hero, that he was Nice. But in episode 4 he gave up being Nice and got his identity back and became his own hero. He didn't give up being a Hero but he did give up being Nice.

Now you might be wondering why the Original Nice didn't give up being a Hero when he did have the choice to.

Simple. He didn't wnat yo give up being a Hero.

Nice didn't give up being a Hero because he WANTED to be a hero. The whole reason he did the things that he did was because he wanted to be a hero, it was his dream. Even when he was becoming a victim he still didn't give up, fearing he won't be able to reach his dream.

Okay you might be asking why Ghostblade stayed a hero. Well, he just wanted to leave his old life and just be an assassin and since Rock was offering that he just accepted to be a hero. When his wife told him that he should leave the hero life he remembered his loud family and nearly panicked. So basically he stayed being hero to not go back to that life I guess. And I think he still stayed being a Hero after leaving his company because he wanted to beat the heck out of Nice for causing his daughter to be in a coma. (And maybe E-Soul/Yang Cheng.)

I still wince at the English translations of the hero names

like "Firm Man"? bro his Chinese hero name is 英雄不倒, hero unfalling. Couldn't they have gone with something like "Unyielding" or "Atlas"?? I'm Chinese too man and I wish they had a better sense for English names

E-Soul too, I know his name is supposed to mean electric soul or soul electric, bc 魂电. If it's still a mouthful, why not "Soul Light"? or "Soul-Blitzer"? or even call him "ELE-Soul"?

idk his powers, but dear lord, no. the US with American Dragon Jake Long was better than this at LEAST. why is the best thing for 梁龙 "dragon boy"???? why not "Draconic" or "Dracolink/Drakolink"?? Or smth even simpler like "The Dragon"?

Honestly, Micky had a valid as hell reaction.

The true question should be can heroes who live in the hero tower ever get a normal room that's actually authentic to them? Nice's room looks so empty and then you have Firm man who also had a similar issue with having to sleep strapped into a bed. Also, can't forget to mention how lifeless OG E-soul's room is as well.

Little johnnies room is the only one that's true to his age!

Plus we don't even get to fully see Queen's room.

To Be Hero X Character Discussion: Wolf Girl

It has been forever since I've done something like this on Tumblr. But I enjoyed To Be Hero X so much that I couldn't help but make a discussion post about it and its characters.

And I really wanted to start out by doing my favorite nemesis in the show: Wolf Girl

I full-on love this character. She quickly became one of my favorite characters in media in general, despite only really having one episode. She was one of the key parts of the show that really got me into To Be Hero X.

Character Design and Theme

Absolutely love the way they incorporated two fairy tales with her character. I love how her costume is themed around the Big Bad Wolf dressing as Grandma in Little Red Riding Hood. And I love how she herself represents The Boy Who Cried Wolf with Firm Man.

Along with that. While I'm not sure if her outfit is supposed to be based on a maid or a nun (potentially both), I love how you can interpret it differently.

For a maid, it works because she's basically a servant trying to do what's best for her master, Firm Man. The person who saved her but suffers from that success.

For a nun. It adds a sense of irony since everyone else among the public worships Firm Man like a god due to him being a symbol of heroism, and that's the source of his suffering, while she's the only one who sees him as a person, and that's the source of her actions.

Along with that, it highlights her style. She's not a fighter; she's smart. She lurked in the shadows and tried to take Firm Man's reputation down without confronting him at first, but ended up coming up with an amazing plan that caught almost all the heroes off guard when it wasn't working.

Character Story

Again, I adore it and how it's a version of The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

She was a little girl saved by a brave firefighter, and her rescue was the event that catapulted him down the path to become one of the top 10 heroes of the Commission.

However, she recognizes how he's suffering from the success, and that realization is what led her to getting bullied because other kids didn't like her depiction of him in her art, which humanized him by showing him buckle under the pressure.

And ironically, she ends up becoming her hero's greatest nemesis by using her art skills that depict him for what he is, a human with a heavy burden, to try to shake his unyielding image.

Character Motivation and Actions

The motivation behind all of her actions is what makes her a great anti-villain. She didn't grow to hate the person who saved her, and she didn't become his nemesis because he was secretly a bad person behind his heroic image and did something to her that made her want revenge. She did it because she wanted to save the man who saved her by lifting his burden and ending his suffering. To do this, she becomes one of the first people we see try to manipulate a person's trust value in the show.

And she was doing all of this with little to no one believing in her. In a world where you get superpowers from how many people believe in you and how they perceive you, I feel like that makes her really stand out as a villain.

She became a major nemesis of one of the greatest heroes with only her own abilities and belief in her actions. And while there are some questions, like how she acquired all the explosives she needed for her grand plan, I don't think it really takes away the impact of her actions.

Because, at the end of the day, she's just a kid who wanted to help her hero by helping lift his burden when no one else would.

Absolutely great character!

episode 3 thoughts! (spoilers ofc)

THEY JUST KEEP PUTTING OUT BANGERS.

Firm Man just... accidentally killing E-soul's nemesis lmfao?? bro had super speed but no reflexes.

seeing as E-soul seems to be an older hero based on pv info this probably isn't e-souls ACTUAL nemesis.

what if e-soul's nemesis was also just some agency's employee how fucked would that be

some rando attacks Nice - im guessing small fries think that this is a way they can somehow get higher ranking? or maybe this way they can damage Nice's trust value.

Nice is confirmed to actually have OCD, now that they've mentioned it twice! I wasn't completely sure because sometimes people mention "oh my ocd" but they don't actually mean ocd which is annoying. plus in the dubs they don't always say OCD. but we've now got two mentions!

so uh. Nice gets worse ocd. Firm Man gets...the complete inability to sit down or bend over?????? wtf?? thats actually just hell. he has to sleep strapped straight up to a vertical bed... this show IS exploring the body horror and it's very purposeful. it seems that heroic imagery is very much a 'careful what you wish for' kind of thing. hope we don't see Nice get worse but knowing haoling...

Wolf Girl seems also affected by Trust/Fear!! like, she's doing this good thing to help Firm man but at the same time is totally doing terrorism. like she totally coulda killed a bunch of kids there and no court would rule that an accident.

Firm Man seems to get Nice's issues implicitly which is why he doesn't even seem to care about whatever Nice dumps on him, so we can guess that bad effects for Heroes is pretty well-known.

something something... Nice can help people away from the shackles of institution, but in turn must take their place. Wolf Girl says to Firm Man: choose the statue, or choose the girl. It's not a fault on Firm Man's character that he has a hard time deciding.

Nice is an idealist who genuinely wants to help people, but his method of doing so is upholding heroism as he knows it. Literally, the statue representing heroism. In this situation, we never know what Lin Ling would choose because he talks Wolf Girl out of it. Would he go for the statue, or the girl?

he's seeing firsthand the horrors of being a hero, but must keep encouraging the mechanisms that cause these things to keep his powers + the systems of heroes intact.
