On July 19, 2017, the Art Defense Project was born. On the 19th of each month, we post a summary of our current activities and a brief discussion of our plans going forward. Changes from last month are noted in italics.
This is our first anniversary! Quite a year it has been. We will post more about this later.
The last month has been very busy. We have been dealing with several Private incidents (small scale), and also a few large public ones. A CopyCat blog has started reposting some of our posts: we encourage artists to simply block/ignore them. They have also been asking some of the artists who Volunteer with us if they may dub their work.
The “NSFW” category has shrunk this month, for which we are grateful. Some were closed, one was moved out of the NSFW queue because they deleted all their videos and started over without clickbait thumbnails.
As of July 19, 2018, we have:
197 Incidents in our system (An “Incident” is an account where at some point we had concern that theft or misuse might be taking place. Not every incident will have a public Incident Report: some are handled privately or we find that a report is unnecessary.) +10
8 Active Incidents (We do regular follow-ups on these: ideally every two weeks, in practice according to the time and energy our volunteers have.) No Change
5 Inactive Incidents (We check in on these once a month.) -2
11 Incidents in our Verify Queue (We will contact a sampling of artists, see if they are OK with how the account is handling things, then decide from that what to do.) -8
9 Incidents in our Ready Queue (These will become either a private or public Incident Report once claimed by one or more Volunteers.) -3
160 Closed Incidents (Closed for reasons ranging from “No problems here, closing” to “We did all we can do here” and of course “Account terminated.”) +21
4 Incidents marked “HOLD”. (Special cases.) +2
3 Incidents kept in our “NSFW” area, all Inactive. (These are included in the above counts. Our Volunteers who are Minors do not deal with these.) -3
(These all now reside in @art-defense-nsfw only.)

Some goals going forward:
• We want to work through that long-idled Verify Queue. We made a good start on it this month.
• After that, the Ready Queue needs to be cleared out.
