jandisnfjfnjfdnf just finished skien two!! its been such an adventure...

ik obviously y'all don't know about this bc this is a new account but I started making this in 2023 or maybe early 2024 and I just now finished skien two... its really funny because I literally did half of this skien in the four or so hours I've been in the car. I literally could knit this whole blanket in like two weeks wdym it's been two _years_

About a week ago, I finished my first knitting project ever! The pattern is Susie Gourlay's Bankhead beanie :)

I'd like to thank my dear friend Claire for teaching me the craft and helping me through the steps of this beanie, in person to start and then through texts and video calls. My grandmother and great grandmothers were knitters, but they passed away before I could learn from them, so Claire taught me like her grandmother taught her.

If I were a better writer I would tell you that there's beauty in receiving the knowledge of a "women's craft", something that has been passed down in women's communities since time immemorial, knowledge that has been taken for granted. There's beauty in taking the time to make something that you will wear and cherish. There's beauty in knowing that these stitches have been knit by people before me, and will be knit by people after me. There's beauty in the fact that we're all connected by a thread, and what we make of it. But then again, I'm a (beginner) knitter, not a writer.
