The other thing that annoys me about how the Firuze arc ends is how much of an utter cop-out it is. Hürrem doesn't win because of anything she does that's smart (and she is absolutely capable of winning through intelligence). She wins because of something that is revealed essentially out of pure luck and that makes no sense that it wasn't noticed sooner. It's both a terribly executed plot twist and a disservice to an intelligent and cunning major character. It feels as though the writers wrote themselves into a corner and didn't know how to resolve the arc.

question for my mc/k moots or really for anyone who's into mc/k: what do you think of firuze? i personally really like her; i'm compelled by the sharp contrast of how genuinely selfless and kind she can be vs how effortlessly unhesitant and manipulative she also is. i do think it's inarguable that her positioning in the narrative is clunky and awkward, because the trajectory of the suleiman/hurrem relationship as a whole is somewhat clunky and awkward, and the whole twist with her secret identity makes absolutely no logistical sense. (to this day i'm like how in the hell is suleiman going to act surprised about her tattoo? he literally has sex with her regularly over the course of many years?) however i still have a massive soft spot for her. finally! a harem girl who isn't in love with her owner!!! she prances on the top of suleiman's head for the majority of her screentime and then strides back home to her family with a smile on her face. iconic tbqh
