One more catch from Kunstpalast in Dusseldorf: The Five Senses by relatively little known Flemish painter Abraham Govaerts (he died very young, else we would hear the name more often). Here's the group of all five 'Senses':

The main device of the Vision (or Sight) is a spyglass - but she also holds what looks like a small convex mirror (could also be a large magnifying glass):

CLARA OCVLORVM ACIES NIL NON PERSPECTAT ACVTÉ,

does not seem to be a full verse, it looks truncated and the second half is gone. The first line has its own self-contained message, though: "The keen sight of the eyes perceives everything sharply" (=misses nothing)

Attr. Giovanni Battista Manerius - The Five Senses (c.1700s) Oil on canvas, ~ 145x225 cm

The attribution is based on the inscription visible on the painting itself:

IO BATTA MANERIVS ALMAE VRBIS ACCADEMICVS FACIEBAT

This could be understood as: 'Giovanni Battista Manerius, academician of the Alma Urbs [=Rome], made this'.

However, no painter with this name is known. Instead, both the composition and the style are very close to the work of Carlo Manieri, an Italian painter active in Rome at the end of 17th century. 'Manerius' seems to be a Latinized form of 'Manieri'. So, one hypothesis is that the painting could be by Carlo Manieri himself. Or - anther hypothesis, and if we believe that this Giovanni Battista existed - by a Carlo Manieri's relative or workshop associate Detail with the mirror:
