FTISLAND Performs First Public Live Acoustic Performance For 150 Fans
Returning to Japan after a successful concert in Taiwan, FTISLAND performs on a unique stage with only 150 fans in attendance, out of 6000 applicants. It has been a while since the band has performed for such a limited number of people. Their explosive success has allowed them to move from halls to arenas in no time, but such setting also increased the distance between them and their audiences. The members yearned for a more intimate setting to set them back to their indie roots, a place where they can be most themselves. This was achieved in the recent live performance also meant to be their official promotional activity for their recent release and ninth single album, Polar Star.
The performance opened with Stay, which is the most apt opening for such a setting. Beautiful World, a B-side track on the newest single and leader Choi Jong Hoon's composition was also featured in the opening set, highlighting rhythm guitarist Song Seunghyun's hauntingly beautiful vocals. Love Love Love from their Korean release rounded up the opening, which of course featured Lee Hong Ki's trademark 'forgetting' lyrics at the premiere which was endearing and made the experience as real and as laidback as it could be.
During the intro, the members revealed that they themselves chose the set list for the performance, touching the audience even more.
The show continued with Raining, a song from their indie days and featured Jae Jin on lead vocals and Choi Min Hwan on cajon, instead of his regular drumset, making it even more special and poignant. The team turns up the tempo with the first ever performance of Top Secret in acoustic rock, where Songsari's rhythm guitar closed the song off to a cool finish.
They closed the show with Polar Star, the carrier track of their recently released single. Hong Ki's impressive falsetto was the highlight, and his interaction and performance in the middle of the audience delighted the fans.
During the show, members and audience also greeted birthday boy Lee Jaejin by singing "Happy Birthday Dear My Friend" acapella. They also mentioned releasing a special DVD/Blu-ray of their music videos titled "FTISLAND Music Clips" on Christmas (December 24th).
