Here is something new I am going to try: A Friday Five question segment about a team. This week: The Redskins. Here are 5 questions that I want answered by the first couple weeks of the season.
How much impact will the pass rush have this season? With only 36 sacks last year one of my biggest concerns is how our defense can wreck havoc onto an opponent's line and pressure the quarterback. We need that to help our secondary as well.
Who will our backup running backs be? We know Alfred Morris has sealed his role as our 1st back on the depth chart. Who is going to be behind him? I am not impressed with Helu or Royster to be honest. Chris Thompson has not been used enough for me to really come down hard on. We do also have two new rookies: Seastrunk and Redd. Seastrunk comes from Baylor and Redd comes from USC. It should be interesting.
Will our special teams be more of a factor this year? Last year the Redskins special teams were downright embarrassing. Not just our returns but covering kicks we almost looked lifeless and out of sync. We need to improve that in order to stay in key games.
Will RGIII bounce back from his sophomore slump? Injuries, lack of worth ethic, never watched film....you can say what you want. He had a bad year and his third season is coming up. Hopefully having a full offseason to work on his game will show his improvement. It doesn't hurt to add DeSean Jackson either.
How will Coach Gruden handle the play calling? Now I didn't watch a lot of Bengal games, but I did read somewhere that he passes 2-1 over the run so I hope that it evens out a little more so that Alfred gets his touches. I also heard no fullbacks on that squad so lets see if it's all singleback or two running backs.
