Someone commented on my Flambert breakup post and brought me back to it.
So here's more word vomit
Months go by and at this point Robert realizes he still loves Flambae even if he debates on if they're good together when they're dating.
He's on the fence about getting back together and how to go about getting back together.
He isn't sure on how to navigate this and doesn't want to deal with everyone around them being on his ass about not getting back with him sooner.
He knows Flambae isn't going anywhere. He's still lingering around like a lost puppy.
But Flambae seems to be adjusting to just being friends.. maybe they're better off this way?
At least that's what Robert thinks until one night the team is at the bar and Flambae is sitting alone at the bar waiting for his drink.
Robert catches someone saddle up next to him out of the corner of his eye.
He doesn't think much of it at first, until he looks over and sees the man is practically cuddling up inyo Flambaes side and Flambae isn't pushing him away.
His grip tightens on his drink and he feels his heartbreak a bit.
They're not together.. Flambae can get with someone else if he wants. He can't expect him to wait around for Robert forever.
Robert knows that this isn't any of his business anymore. He's the one that gave up on the relationship, that didn't take Flambae back after the air cleared between them.
And yet, he's already walking over to the bar and reaching for Flambaes shoulder.
Yeah he's a little drunk, but he's acting more wasted than he actually is when he leans on the bar next to Flambae and orders himself another drink.
Flambae blue screens.
He doesn't want to push Robert away. But he doesn't seem to want to push the other guy away either.
The other guy gets a little catty but tries covering it with feign politeness.
Robert has the defense that he's just waiting for his drink and standing next to his friend well he waits.
But Robert is a bitch when he drinks so some sarcasm gets thrown at the guy.
Flambae tries to settle Robert down, saying he should get back to the table once he gets his drink. Robert agrees despite being annoyed internally that he's being sent away.
He ends up downing his drink in one go once it gets there and trudging off back towards his table.
Now Flambae is conflicted because did Robert just get jealous? Or does he just not want Flambae to move on??
The guy makes a snide comment about Robert to Flambae, nothing too serious, just about how his friend seems like a handful with how he drinks.
But it's enough for Flambae to shake the guy off his side.
Flambae should leave Robert alone.. it's not his business to take care of him and it'll probably only make Robert angry if he tries.
But he's drunk and he's gone from the table to wandering towards the exit alone and he doesn't like the way people are looking at him--
He's already following after him
Outside he finds Robert leaning against a wall, some distance away from where Bruno is enjoying the bar by watching through one of Malevolas portals.
When he checks on Robert, Robert starts apologizing for messing things up for Flambae and the guy he was talking to. Poor guy looks wasted, and Flambae is fumbling a bit with trying to help without overstepping.
But then Robert gives him an in by actually asking for help.
Next thing they know Flambaes helping Robert home, Robert even asks for help to his apartment door instead of just letting himself be dropped off at the building.
Then Flambaes being invited inside and he really shouldn't be going in because Roberts really drunk and he'll probably be mad in the morning--
But Roberts practically begging him.
Robert kisses him when he comes inside and god has Flambae been missing this, craving this for month that he just lets himself give into it.
At first Roberts lips are determined, like trying to make sure Flambae doesn't leave. But then they're soft and longing, it's enough to bring a man to his knees with how much Flambaes craved a sweet kiss like this from the man.
Even in their last few months of dating their kisses hadn't been this sweet since they had been arguing a lot.
Then Robert pulls away. Flambae feels his chest tighten at the incoming rejection and regret that Robert is about to give.
But instead Robert just says they should go to sleep, even offers to share the bed.
Flambae is fighting a losing battle. He knows if he cuddles up to that man right now that he's going to be done for.
All this time of learning how to just be friends is falling through the cracks! He should at least take the couch--
But Roberts giving him puppy eyes and at this point he knows Roberts doing this on purpose.. that the little shit probably planned this from the moment he ordered his last drink from the bar.
But fuck if that doesn't just make Flambae want to give in more, because it means Robert still cares in ways that he's been pretending not to.
They're cuddling in bed and it feels so right to be back where he belongs. He's squeezing Robert a little tighter as if fearing he'll suddenly change his mind and kick Flambae out, but Robert just nuzzles into the cuddles that he's probably also been missing.
Flambae prays that morning never comes, and Robert prays for the same.
