Flip-Sides: Shows up post-war as part of the group trying to convince Starscream to lead the Decepticons again.

Minicons!

To the top left are Garboil and Howlback with mufflers, napping. To the middle are Flip-Sides and Overkill. To the bottom left are Buzzsaw and Laserbeak with blankets.

Garboil and Howlback are part of the Cobalt Sentries. Basically, they are part of a group that strives to be model citizens and role models of the Decepticon cause, abroad and on Cybertron. They aren’t really notable compared to any other Decepticon ambassador, and at most, are assigned to be safety inspectors or tutors for cons who struggle to learn the law…which would be fun if most of the cons weren’t guzzler slackers! They are mostly notable for being really nerdy in law, Decepticon history, and painting themselves blue. They look up to Soundwave and strive to be acknowledged by Megatron as much as ve is. Maybe that why they are all blue…

The Cobalt Sentries is one of the many clubs that arise in the ‘cons, trying to get members. You see, because Garboil and Howlback are the only members. They are trying their best to find other nerds, but of course, fellow nerds need to fit their standards. They aren’t the only two Megatron fanatics, but its hard to find potential members that can fit the schedule and their fancy. The two show a scorn towards Decepticons they see as bad representatives of the Decepticon cause, such as the DJD. 

Flip-Sides and Overkill are more like unlikely friends. The bright pink Flip-Sides is a really outgoing con who always wears vis guns on vis back which also act as hoverboards. The con knows all there is about organic media, and watches too much of it, like Overlord and Freezon. Ve has the unique ability to manipulate ver own sparkwaves in order to soothe others, and has been specially trained to work with all kinds of cons and as a spy.

Overkill is the biggest and strongest of Minicons, as far as Minicons go. Ve has a little known love for organic music and drama and would want to perform, (as Cybertron does not have media or shows or theater, the closest being the Pits of Kaon), but has social anxiety. Ve also has the ability to manipulate mass to the degree that most can’t, which would be great…if ve didn’t have a sensitivity to debris that caused ver to sneeze into a teeny weeny con. Hence why ve always have a scarf. 

During the first day of The Split, Flip-Sides saw the big Minicon hiding in a corner, and Flip-Sides came to talk with them, and then next thing Overkill knows, ve has at least one friend. 

(I want to work in some plot where Flip-Sides does become an Autobot without ver remembering that ve is sleeper spy, but idk I have to think about it,)

Buzzsaw and Laserbeak are inseperable friends. Laserbeak is a part of the original four Minicons who are Soundwave’s crew, but Buzzsaw is a honorary fifth member. Buzzsaw is a confident birb, really daring and sneaky. Ve is known as a bane to the Guardian Bot Omega Supreme, as ve constantly taps taps taps on the giant’s helm. Like Rumble and Frenzy, ve likes to pull pranks on various cons, but has a high sense of loyalty to the cause and does as much as ve can to be involved.

Laserbeak is a good birb. Vis spark gets fuzzy when Megatron compliments ver for doing a good job, or when ve absolutely crushes the Cobalt Sentries and DJD in a game of Decepticon law. Ve is one of the top spies in the faction, having amassed lots of laugh worthy videos of the Autobots and humans. Ve has a high standing with vis circle of friends, and has the equivalent of a cute reedy voice, and is cute to boot. 10/10 birb.

Despite everything, ve tends to be very insecure. Ve feels like ve doesn’t contribute as a lot of vis Minicon friends do–which is false, everyone knows it. Buzzsaw and friends always make sure Laserbeak knows ve is cared for and an important con.

In this drawing, I used actual face expressions on the cons without the sparkwaves, I am a Weak Human and sometimes I just wanna draw bots with direct emotes, even if it goes against my own canon.

When I saw this next group shot too of Starscream and his allies driving and flying off I originally wondered: where’s Flip-Sides? 

She’s a literal datastick it’s not like she can drive or fly off too.

But then...I noticed her:

I see lil Rosanna and Flip-Sides down there, at the protest.

And I really would like to get to know more about these ladies in this continuity.

For example: are they sisters here?

In the only continuity except this that they’ve both appeared, they are literally the same person, with autobot “Rosanna” being an unknowing false personality put in place while decepticon Flip-Sides acts as a sleeper agent:

They evidently are both different people in IDW continuity and still look really similar to each other- especially in their first appearance - so maybe they’re sisters here instead?

Also there’s the matter of their history. They’ve both appeared before where it was confirmed that, like Rewind, they belonged to the Disposable Class:

But there’s also how they’re both ladies. As they’re cybertronian and not from any of their colonies, this means that they must be trans like Lug and Anode, who realised their identities after being exposed to different non-cybertronian cultures.

Which implies some interesting history with both Rosanna and Flip-Sides, as where and how did two members of the Disposable Class manage to gain exposure to non-cybertronian cultures?

There’s also the question too of what happened to them when the war came about?

Both Rosanna and Flip-Sides have continuity history of becoming sleeper-agents, as well as Rosanna a straight-up Autobot and Flip-Sides a decepticon.

So what’s the case in IDW? What side/s did the two end up on?

From the context of their appearances, like Rosanna straight up punching someone massive in comparison to her in relation to the above protest, it’s at least safe to say that they’re certainly not going to have wound up being NAILs.

So yes, I would really like to be able know more about these two.

As well as see or at least find out what they’re up to post-war too!
