Crossback straddle x Buddha variations... Reminiscing on my last session at @afterglowaerialarts. A wrist injury has had me out of the studio for three weeks now, and while I’m trying to stay fit and build strength until I’m back in the air, I’m feeling a little discouraged and sad. My #aerialsilks journey has been so important for my personal development and creative energy, it stings to feel like I’m falling behind because of something that’s out of my control. I have to keep reminding myself that healing is not linear, and my body is a temple that requires maintenance, even when it’s inconvenient. One of the core lessons I gathered in my yoga teacher training is that there’s no shame in modifying a pose to support what you currently need. This can mean backing out a bit to cater to tight muscles, using a prop to aid in proper alignment, or taking time to lay the fuck down. We Americans have this GO GO GO HUSTLE NONSTOP 24/7 HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER vibe that doesn’t always honor the need for tranquil space. We grow and heal in our restful moments, and I know this perceived setback is an opportunity to channel my focus into self-care and other passions. Anyway, rant over, I love you guys and hope to have more flow content soon.
