so i wanna get into some other mcyts and i wanna know do the other members of dsmp interract with dream at all? like i kinda wanna watch the beeduo ppl but i dont wanna support dream bc of the stuff surrounding him. i dont wanna force u to be the one to explain other ppl's drama to me but ur the only one i follow that is in the fandom

Hey anon! tysm for asking!

This is kind of tricky because we can't really know as the audience the level of interaction btwn streamers behind the scenes, but i can offer my own PERSONAL recommendations* based on interaction in content/plot of the Dream SMP, if you are interested in following that story. If you aren't interested in DSMP, i can also give a few projects i enjoy that are either small streamers or "small" streamers compared to the regular DSMP "Cast". Also, i will include some of my tricks to limit support of creators you don't generally want to give any boost to.

*other fans may have other opinions on both Dream Proximity streamers to watch, this is all just my personal opinion!! if other mcyt enjoyers have any disagreements with my wording/other ccs to add, feel free to do so! just be nice... o(TヘTo)

Note: I will be linking all streamers mentioned, not just my recommendations

DSMP:

Right now, plot wise Dream's been in jail since... january 20th, so his plot interactions have been limited to visits by other smp members, and the warden, Awesamdude. Most current storylines running don't feature him. check out the Eggpire and L'sandburg arcs for a story that doesn't heavily feature dream and really lets some "smaller" streamers shine. Note for these: while BadBoyHalo is a member of the dream team, I'd recommend checking out the POVs of CapitanPuffy, FoolishGamers, DropsByPonk, and Hannahxxrose for the Eggpire story (tho hannah wasn't involved in l'sandburg)

There isn't really a way to "cut" dream out DSMP and keep it's story intact unfortunately.

@relaxxattack has an EXCELLENT curated DSMP watch list, organized by season and story arc and @findingjoynweirdstuff does written daily/weekly/monthly recaps, as well as fantastic timeline of the DSMP story and also works to recover lost VODS. Pinned Post with links to all those HERE

If you don't want to support CC's then at least support fan ccs doing exceptional archival work

OTHER MCYT:

I've been into mcyt since they way back when of 2013, so i'm going to be reccomending some "finished" first-wave series, along with some non-DSMP MCYTs, both large and small.

OLD SERIES:

Mianite: Survival minecraft with a plot that expands as time goes on. Has two main seasons, as well as a small hardcore season, Trinity Island and a 2020 Revival Season. Features CapitanSparklez, Syndicate, JerhicoAFK, OMGITSFIREFOXX.

YOGSCAST: holy shit the yogscast did so much!!! they had MANY mine craft series Recommended: Shadow of Israphael (modded survival w/plot), Flux buddies (Modded survival... forget if it has plot or not)

Team Crafted: listen... at least just watch the Klub Ice video for me....

CURRENT SERIES:

HermitCraft: 8 seasons of survival minecraft with a building/server community focus- no real "lore" or plot. MASSIVE cast of lovely people with EXCELLENT vibes. There's seriously so much content there that I'm just gonna link the wiki and you can find people you like. They also had a hardcore series between Seasons 7 and 8 that can be a good place to start if` you're coming from more High-Octane series so you can get a feel for their general Vibes. Wiki Third Life SMP (Grian) i watch grian the most im biased sry

SMALL STREAMERS:

in no particular order, some small streamers who mainly do minecraft that i love and think deserve the world

thelittleschmidtt: on several SMPs. super funny guy, also currently doing a 32 day subathon so go give him some support

snifferish: Extreme. Cottagecore. Lesbian. Vibes. what more do you need

michaelmcchill: Newest DSMP Member. variety content. He's not small compared to schmidtt and sniff but i still think deserves a MASSIVE shoutout

poodwattle: bone man. cool bone man. variety content and did a RLCraft series w Sneegsnag? wild.

Milk__Ape: a vtuber? whose bit is that they are an ape. chat is a jungle. we are all apes. Minecraft, and active on an SMP. the Bit is funny and the vibes are pretty good

BoomerNA: variety/Minecraft PVP(bedwars) streamer. TOOTHLESS?? THE DRAGON? guy. General volume warning for him as he gets loud as a bit. he plays pummel party with some other streamers on saturdays and it's so fucking funny i cry sometimes

HOW I WATCH:

FUN SECRET! I'm Hard of Hearing and have ADHD and so live streaming is utterly inaccessible to me. I watch NONE of these people live for more than 20 min before i get so lost i turn it off, mostly because they don't have captions on their streams ╰（‵□′）╯

I have a whole essay planned down the line about why live streaming is an awful medium in terms of accessibility for long form narrative content like plot-heavy SMP's, but for now, my tips:

YouTube Third Party Uploads of streams: shitty auto-generated captions are better than none, and they won't give views to ccs you dont want to support. you give your view to some random guy instead

Adblocker: in the event that you HAVE to see a vod on an official channel, you won't be giving ad revenue to a CC.

Those recaps by @/findingjoynweirdstuff i mentioned earlier? a godsend. The only way i understand wtf's going on in the DSMP sometimes i swear

also! Wiki's are your friend! use them if you wanna know more about a series but don't really want to commit to watching thousands of hours of VODs

TL;DR: Beeduo is "safe". go for it champ.

there really isn't a way to fully engage with DSMP with out tangentially "supporting" dream. but beeduo (Tubbo and Ranboo) aren't in the dream team, and right now, their plots aren't super involved with dream. watch third party vods and support fan recaps to get the story. there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. use my reccs to find ccs you like, or just give up like me and watch things that make you happy.

I don't give a fuck about dream and his drama, but if you want to avoid him, be my guest. I'll still be here on my lawn chair back watching VODs bc i think the story is pretty good.

Sorry if the tldr comes off a little salty, i just personally tried the whole purity culture consumption of media thing and i think it's stupid. but. you do you anon, you do you.

R: Mother. Only a few have told the tale and I’m one of the lucky ones who can tell it again. Just to clarify I heard this story from someone else a long time ago

R: Simply, she was constructed by the raw energy of flux. Only those who have delved too far into Thaumcraft and become heavily inflicted with flux can hear her voice. Mother controls her victims by turning them insane. Very few have the willpower and strength to withstand her might. Eventually, they fall under her control. Mother manipulates them and transforms them into her proxies, that's how Mother can set foot into our world. But the proxies don’t all survive either, they become too insane to cover their basic needs leaving them to rot. Her ultimate plan, like any other bad guy, is to claim the world as hers
