Playing around with gaits for fun.
This gorgeous mare has arrived from Iceland. Hrifla has a special allele called W21, giving her white speckles. There are only a handful of Icelandics with this color as of yet and we were lucky enough to purchase one of them. But it is not just her unique color what makes her special. She has an amazing temperament and adapts to what the rider needs. She is gentle and careful with new riders and has spirit and fire underneath experienced riders. This five gaited mare is a true treasure.
I never thought I’d actually finish this thing. I did the BG like a year ago, but thought it was too nice to mess up so I was scared to paint Horse and rider. But, I’ve been really stressed and down lately so I needed to feel accomplished for something, and I pulled it back up again. Gíslína and her Icelandic horse Einar. Do not steal, these are original OC’s and this is an original piece by me
It was a dark and dreary day at Stormhaven. A blanket of fog had settled in the valley suffocating all sunlight. It was on this misty morning that Katinka had her performance evaluation, ending her probation. Aaron and Anna would decide if the young Icelander gets to stay on full time or if her future is better suited somewhere else. She was given the stallion Falinn, a horse she had only ridden a few times, but one that would not challenge her. After all, the evaluation was nerve wrecking enough. Her arms were stiff and it felt like you could hear her thumping heart a mile away. Mistakes were made, but Falinn, being the wonderful guy he is, compensated all her short comings and tried his best to read her intent.
Although this was not her best performance Anna knew she had greatly improved since she first arrived and there was much she was able to learn still. Katinka would stay on and was welcomed as part of the team.

Riding an Icelandic horse is a popular activity when visiting Iceland. But in my experience, it's not as easy as it sounds! Read about my experience here.
Flying pace in action
Spring has finally actually for real sprung! 🍃🌸 Mysla and I practiced riding pace for the first time together today and she did great! After we get the mechanics fine tuned and more stamina I’m very sure she can go faaast 🌪
