Not everything goes to plan...
I’m lying in the dirt (a normal and common place to find me!) photographing the 2011 French Handisport Road Cycling Championships - handbike. The riders go by one by one...the field is stretched out. The rider in the photo (sorry I don’t have his name) came into the sweeping downhill, slightly off camber, bend with a pile of speed; confident, fast and wide. I hear a slide and a bang and I spin round to see him smash into a fence between two trees. Boy he was lucky to miss those trees! Not everything goes according to plan...
