last night i dreamt there was an armchair sized coffee mug sitting just outside my door
today finn and i are driving my mom for her big thanksgiving dinner shop. we're starting at the farmer's market for parsnips, turnips, rutabagas, and korean sweet potatoes. then to el rey for carnitas tacos with chiles toreados for lunch before we hit the other markets
she likes veloz and even our gas station tacos better than el rey, which is such a startling opinion that i struggle to find a contemporary analogy for it. they are both great tacos, but this is bold
she'll pretend el rey is her first choice today because she knows finn loves it, but she'll forget halfway through lunch and start giving them passive aggressive southern old lady compliments
she has decided that the lady who works the drive thru at veloz, also does all of the cooking and owns the place, and she has an entire backstory for her and the rise of her taco empire in a ramshackle former one hour photo booth. her first preference for tacos is always the nice lady. we get our tacos and eat them in a shady spot in the empty parking lot of the baptist church next to the doraville jail
