okay so if Scotland does become independent because of Brexit... I will be able to live there more with the same rights I had as a EU citizen... (I am getting marriage proposals from Scotland but I’m not really ready for commitment or anything serious right now because of my health problems and depression... I’m not ready for big steps in life right now... just want to have more time to recover)

just right now this era in the UK is not really fun if you are a foreigner from a small country... I don’t think I can bear with it... I am human too after all. 

But I’m still not sure if I should try another place instead since I already been there... like Ireland - I like Dublin, Cork...  They speak English in Switzerland as well idk. I have close ones in France... (but I don’t speak French, otherwise it’s good country to live in I think... It’s just my family is like this - we travel and live in other places so that’s how it all began for me... we’re all spread around the world sometimes...)

What really fucked me up was when I came back to my hometown for a little while and all my friends and people my age are working and travelling and just living their life like adults and here I am, in need of my mum driving me everywhere cuz I didn’t do the driving license course and instead went to live abroad for 4 years

Looks like my Japanese is improving...

2 things happened today

1. I made an older Japanese lady laugh with no effort. I just made something I would normally say in a sarcastic/dry way in English somehow work in Japanese. 

2. My Chinese American friend who is visiting Japan for a couple of weeks (and doesn't speak Jpn) met up with me and had dinner at a restaurant near my job. Usually when Japanese servers see me with someone who has an asian face they just talk to them thinking they are Japanese (usually they are) but with about 2 attempts they realized I am the one to talk to.

Just a note on the bleaching agents.I once bought a really nice moisturiser from Skin Food and I loved it. I thought that all those whitening products where bullshit but I noticed my skin getting paler the more I used it. Turned the bottle around to read the small print on the back and it mentioned whitening (only in Korean). So you should probably ask the sales assistants even if it is not from a specifically 'whitening' range.

Another question about Epik :) Did you use a recruiting agency or did you apply directly through email? I'm on the fence in general about using a recruiting agency to teach abroad because I’ve hear mixed reviews. Do you have any advice on this?

i used a recruiting agency but only because i didn't know about EPIK before. i originally contacted the agency because i wanted to go to Japan and they placed there, but they said there were no available positions, and that the job market in Korea was better. i said yes because i thought in the end if i was offered a job i could always turn them down. the more i learned about Korea and teaching there, talking about it with Korean, gyopo, and western friends who had advice, the more i fell in love. by the time i had my final interview, i really wanted it. i don't know a lot about different recruiting agencies but mine is one i found online called Aclipse. it was helpful for me because i am one of those people that asks a lot of questions about clerical and technical things [you know, one of THOSE people] so having someone to answer and work with me each step of the way was helpful for me. i submitted a basic online application on the Aclipse website, and when they responded they scheduled a phone interview with me. after i passed that, they recommended me to the program and helped me basically apply. they steered me through the application process and i sent all of my documents and application to them who in turn send it to EPIK. i'm not sure if there is some sort of edge you get when a recruitment agency recommends you as opposed to applying alone, but that's just how it happened for me. after i passed that i was offered a phone interview with EPIK who called me from Seoul. and when i passed that, they offered me a position in Busan. i started in October '09 with Aclipse, EPIK app opened in November i think, and they got back to me 2 or 3 days after my interview. Aclipse had a travel agent they offered for me to book tickets through but i booked them on my own online [you have to pay for your flight up front and they reimburst you about a month after you arrive]. they asked for copies of my flight confirmation which i e-mailed and i was surprised to find that when i arrived at the airport an Aclipse recruiter [not mine] was there to confirm my arrival. my recruiter then e-mailed me a few days later to ask if i was doing okay, and said his associate said i got there okay. i thought that was pretty cool. my Canadian friends had rave reviews about Footprints. i assume they only work with Canadians but am not sure. most of them seem to have come through there so if you're a Canuck then i recommend you think about going with them. any other questions or if you want me to go into more detail, get at me holmes. later Anony-mouse

  This is the address of the apartment I share with Maia. Letters can be mailed here just fine, and in fact maybe it's better that if you're going to send me a letter or postcard (I'd love to hear from all of you!), you send it to the apartment. It's just when it's things bigger than letters that it gets tricky.

So if you want to send me a care package (*cough*mom*cough*), office; anything letter-sized, home. :)

This is it! The moment you've all been waiting for. To those of you who want to send me letters and packages and shower me in attention and love, I finally have procured the address of my company.

It's better that you send things to me through my company, because when things bigger than a letter arrive at the post office near my apartment building, they come during the day to give me the package, and I am never home during the day. And the post office is closed during the weekend. Meaning I will never get it. The first package my mom sent to my house while I was working at my first job got to me on a fluke, I happened to be back during the weekday and the mailman happened to catch me at a good time. The second one, which she sent to my current apartment because I mistakenly told her to, is still floating around in the Korean postal service somewhere. Who knows where that one went, but she sent it to me for Halloween, so I'm assuming the cookies inside are no longer edible.

Don't ask me how to format it, because I don't know. If there's one thing Korea still has me stumped on, it's how to format addresses, how to write them in English, and how to reconcile the difference between the two.

As for what you send me, I'm not saying I was expecting anyone to send me big packages, but please try and keep it small. If it's small then it's less of a burden on my coworkers, and also I have an hour commute from work to home, so it's easier to take smaller boxes/packages home on the subway. :)
