I. Getaway stole the Lost Light, and nobody is happy about it except him.
II. The broken Matrix of Leadership just woke up, and Optimus doesn't know how, why, or what it’s doing.
III. Mirage will do anything to get Hound back; he might even have to make peace with his amica.
IV. Galvatron refuses to give up his claim to Decepticon leadership. If Ravage wants to be the leader of Destron entire, she'll have to cancel him the old-fashioned way: by killing him herself. And the EDC would like her to do it as soon as possible.
Content Advisory: Canon soup with IDW/G1 base. This series began as a Soundwave/Ravage MTMTE fix-it fic. Heavily seasoned with Japanese G1 and TFP. Fourth fic in a series of seven. (The first one is Diamonds & Rust.) Chapter Summary: Ratchet wakes up, and Drift is relieved. Forestock (Vos) visits Megatron to discuss the future of the Justice Division. Callista leaves the office and ends up taking a drive with a relative stranger through the outskirts of Iacon.
Content Advisory: Nothing you wouldn’t expect from that summary. @siadea @bitegore @jariktig @camp-mithril-lake
It could work for Terminus! If not, then perhaps Obsidian cuz he only has one leg. If Terminus, then the wheelchair/exosuit could become new treads while the rest of him becomes the rest of the drill tank. If Obsidian, it could simply become some extra bulk and another set of propellers.
Obsidian doesn't really have one leg? he's perfectly able-bodied, he just has a quintoid frametype like Botanica. he can get around just fine, i don't think he'd want a wheelchair. the issue of disabled accessibility and diverse frametype accessibility are related but distinct here. a few quintoid framed folks would probably use wheelchairs or other mobility devices for sure, but the majority of them have the same speed, stamina, and range of motion as people with legs and don't consider mobility an issue
it would be absolutely helpful for Terminus though, very much so! the undercity isn't really wheelchair accessible so he relies on some hand made crutches instead. the accident that crippled him made him unable to transform, which is actually a much worse disability to mecha than the loss of a limb, and what ultimately made him a junker. he'd need a lot of careful medical work and physical therapy to get to the point of transforming again, which was considered too long and expensive for his former company to do for him when instead he could simply be a menial laborer. however, he definitely gets a rash of good luck during SNAP's storyline, and i was already planning to give him a wheelchair... not sure if the story will fit him actually healing enough to transform and using the wheelchair in alt mode but that's a very good idea
hmmm i think tracked and wheeled chairs are most common, followed by hover chairs. spider chairs would be more complicated and harder to maintain/repair just due to the way legs work, but high end models are probably good for rough terrain? depends on the person using it
this isn't specific to wheelchairs, but there are vanishingly few folks with alt modes that serve as a vehicle, accessory, or other kind of prop exclusively for other mecha's use. like, Amp is a generator instead of an electric chair here. a wheelchair alt mode is incredibly unlikely, but that's because the whole... genre i guess of alt modes designed for other people to use are just rare. about half of all weaponformers fall under this blurry distinction, including Forestock, which is another reason they're considered so bizarre and outcast
What is Dipstick's "redundant" alt modw? And if certain characters without mobile alt modes (Rewind, Rung, Soundwave, Blaster, Tripodeca, Amp/Kaon, Forestock/Vos, Mainframe, Diptstick, Ravage, Perceptor, Quark, etc) adopted vehicular or even animalian alt modes, what would they turn into?
Dear Alt-Mode Alarmist,
Dipstick is one of the few Triple Changers whose secondary alternate mode is a similar kind of vehicle as his primary one—in his case, he has the choice of becoming a three-wheeled truck or a four-wheeled car. Some have suggested that having an alt-mode considered “redundant”—the common label for such bots—is to blame for Dipstick’s ornery temperament, but never to his face.
As for the other bots you mention, let me see… Perceptor was also a Triple Changer, turning into either a microscope or a tracked vehicle. Soundwave gained a wheeled form after the end of the great war, adapted into an APC disguise upon his return to Earth. Blaster, at varying points in his life, was a hovercraft or a wheeled vehicle. Amp had a drill-tank mode, long before he became Kaon. Likewise "Forestock" only assumed his gun mode (and name) out of a desire to be useful to Megatron—before then, he was a forklift called Stockade.
The rest never adopted vehicular alt-modes in the specific universe I assume you are referring to. In a branch reality where Quark did not perish, he adopted a scientific exploration vehicle for an alternate mode. One Mainframe survived until the signing of the Pax Cybertronia, assuming a leonine alternate mode and changing his name to "Maneframe". For Rung, Tripodeca, Rewind, and Ravage, not having a vehicle form was very much part of who they were as people, and one must look far afield to find incarnations possessed of mobile alt-modes.
Vos!
