you're being forgotten again.
isn't that what always happens?
you just have to be more forward.
even if you yell their names four times and they don't listen.
even if you wave at them happily.
even if you sit next to them.
you just have to be more forward.
it's just you.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
One of the more coruscating tenets of kingship: bright lines between the life of service and the life of the heart.
You’ve seen this already, fam: now it’s assembled for ease of reading on AO3.
Sadly, it’s not quite finished: I think there’s somewhere between six and ten (short!) chapters to go.
Note: I mean it about short chapters. YMMV, but you might prefer to ‘read entire work’ in this case.
What was your dream about Duck?
D: It’ll come to me.
Sometimes I look at how happy they have become
I see friends growing up, have stable relationships, starting families, making more friends, enjoying life...without me
I wish I could be there, but it didn’t work out like that. It’s not their fault, on the contrary, it’s all my fault.
But no matter what, I’m happy for them, even if I feel like being jabbed in the heart as I slowly realize I’ve been left behind.
To say that it doesn’t bother me is a lie, but to say I’m willing to stay behind if it means they get to keep going forward, is the most painful truth I would confess.
I hope, they didn’t actually forget me, but they just moved on...
Forgotten?
A trip through Ul'dah after several weeks of recovery brought about new discoveries: the sultana poisoned; the man indirectly responsible for the attempt on my life slain; his slayer imprisoned sans an arm; the Scions dispersed; and the Warrior of Light taken into custody yet was able to escape. Yet the interesting thing was the Braves knew not who I was. Even those that did seemed not to care. A slight annoyance to be sure as I thought my time within proved my abilities, but a small boon for I'm able to come and go as I please. I know not what I should do next with these revelations, but my path is clear: move onward and try to reunite with any surviving Scions.
Riddle me this: When is an optimist a soon-to-be pessimist?
When they have ADHD and can never follow a schedule.
