Hoboken’s Pizzeria - Route 23 South in Pompton Plains, NJ

Back in 2015, I had reviewed this location when it was known as AJ’s Pizza. I noticed a new name a few months back and knew I had to see if things had improved. There wasn’t a great selection so I just got the 2 best looking slices - a plain and a four cheese sausage. For me, the cheese and crust were the best part of both slices. The cheese was smooth with a good flavor and the crust was thin with a nice, light crisp. Unfortunately though, the cheese was just a little too dense on the sausage slice and drowned out the overly rationed sausage. The sauce was also pretty whatever, making this meal good enough (definitely an improvement), but not for a return trip...especially at $7.20 for the pair. There’s plenty of better options a minute or two down the highway so this one isn’t a must-try.
