So I lied, I had one more of these left. It's not a sequel AU design like the others for obvious reasons, but I always felt like it would be necessary to give Hopper a Lyoko form at some point. I am not counting his glowing hypersphere design, although I do think that he may have been able to turn into that non-corporeal orb as one of his powers.

I was rewatching episode 49 “Franz Hopper” the other day, and it’s a great episode, but it just makes me so sad every time I think about how all that shit happened on JEREMIE’S BIRTHDAY😭

Like he thought all his friends hated him to the point where he just wanted to bail ASAP (relatable, been there), and it happened ON HIS BIRTHDAY!!! I know he said he didn’t have any hard feelings at the end of the episode but finding out that one of your best friends might be dying and hates you now because of it has GOT to be one of the more devastating ways you can spend a birthday…

favorite thing about them: i'm not gonna lie i'm on the side of people the government doesn't fuck with 😭 and he's pretty hated by the guys so that kinda makes him cool as hell in my book

least favorite thing about them: the fact that he could contact them in s4 and he only ever contacted jeremie like tf? you got a whole daughter? don't you wanna say smth to her like idk SORRY since yk damn well you can't say anything on lyoko. i'm telling you aelita should've realized he wasn't real in “distant memory” simply based on the fact that he texted her and not jeremie this man dgaf 😭

brOTP: jerlita i guess?? i just think it was hilarious how he lost his whole life to lyoko and these mfs named a program “big fat cheesehead” gtfo 😭😭😭

random headcanon: he actually had like 50 pairs of these same glasses 'cause my guy's been wearing them forever. also he looks like the guy who would scratch his chin saying hmm.. intriguing....

unpopular opinion: i'm actually not sure if i have one since most takes on him are pretty lukewarm in nature but as much as i understand the distaste for him i think calling him “the real villain” kinda destroys the whole point

serves me right, I just asked someone else for franz too! I missed this for a bit (anon asks don't give notifs, I think!) and I gotta sleep so may be a little short here- (post note: nevermind!)

favorite thing about them: hm. I think it's very easy to interpret franz's actions and interactions in the series as entirely utilitarian in the fight against xana. He never explicitly goes out of his way to speak to aelita unless it's to send useful data. HOWEVER. between aelita's interpretations and the whole gentle support that he does offer when he physically helps out (digital sea rescue, manta aid in The Key, bringing aelita back to life), there is some sense of kindness and regret that makes me feel like I'm hallucinating everything I just said about him.

least favorite thing about them: went insane living the same day over and over again for what, over seven years? and did not come up with a better game plan for his and aelita's safety. Obviously he was not in the best state at the time but. Whether or not living in lyoko was a good idea at all, he could've run a rttp once they reached the lab? and then had at least a whole day to prepare aelita so they didn't have to get chased into the sewers. I could go on. I feel like there's a lot of logistical weirdness there.

favorite line: "Come on." "Where?" "To a world... where..we will be safe. You and I. Forever." I think it's a good combo of his desire to make sure aelita's okay and his questionable morals. also indicative of his lack of consideration for aelita's growth as a real human being. already talked about that one though with anthea

brOTP: I have a hard time seeing franz making friends with anyone post-anthea. he's at kadic as basically cover. he didn't introduce his daughter to anyone. the house was almost certainly not visited by outsiders. And uh. I feel like you have to be quite a loner already to survive all that rttp. Let's say delmas, because he for some reason takes enough liking to sissi to possess her in Contact. perhaps he remembered her. I like that idea.

OTP: anthea!! obviously.

nOTP: he's got this weird toxic ex, Carthage? yeah. and that new one he replaced her with. can't remember the name though. starts with an X.

random headcanon: some of the rttp days, he just spent it with aelita. he stopped though when she started to notice something was suddenly wrong with him. some days he also just showed up to the lab in his pyjamas.

unpopular opinion: this post is kinda full of these already probably. uhh. okay. he had like, a lot of communication with the group. between bringing lyoko back in its entirety to Contact to his diary. He left his diary to aelita through Mr. Puck. in ANY of those instances, he couldn't have like. left a note for her? really??? also the whole mr. puck stuffed behind the wall thing was a ridiculously poor failsafe.

song I associate with them: you know the drill, Mad Dog by The Crane Wives. I think this one works really well. I ALSO think it works for Jeremie which. yknow. parallels.
