you guys love this ep i can tell 😁 finally rewatched it!

favorite thing about the episode: the overall structure and humor! i love the time loop trope and i think it was done pretty well. everybody getting progressively more annoyed and the cuts to all changes are hilarious #tome . also big fan of the dynamics in this ep the duos are cute and fun as hell. also sissi in her gym outfit I LOVE THAT LESBIAN ASS FIT!!!

least favorite thing about the episode: that sexist dialogue in the beginning + not enough aelita but mostly the inconsistencies. the whole yumi conflict with her father when we had that handled in the previous episode it's so goddamn distracting even without rewatching it in order. also them not using the rttp after xanafied sissi knocked out jeremie and made herve and nicholas carry his unconscious body to the boiler room saying “nobody's gonna look for him here” then proceeding to rip off a pipe to attack ulrich. “sissi doesn't remember anything!” great what about those two? i'm afraid after the show's events they'll have no choice but to kill these guys they've seen way too much

favorite character in this episode: odd ! with ulrich being a close second. yes they pissed me off with that misogynistic bullshit in the beginning but i can't they were so cool and entertaining the whole episode after! odd roasting ms hertz and then basically teaching her class after a few rttps and ulrich outsmarting sissi with that whole “jeremie and aelita are fucking crazy” plan (very believable i must say). also yes sissi's evil as hell here but damn she's smart!!

favorite scenes: all of the waking up to break away on the radio segments + the scenes of odd in the class!

favorite line: yumi saying “darn tower”, “after all it is your job”, sissi's “sorry as a what???”, “to me you already are very real” and the iconic gaslight king shit “a lie that everybody believes isn't really a lie anymore”... okay!

overall thoughts: it's entertaining as hell but also love that this was their way of coming up with a reason to use rttp less. and i love that they show the consequences immediately in the same episode and not pull some shit later on to be like “oh that's xana getting stronger actually!” like nope. here's the action (rttp) here's the consequence (possession). cool shit. but the episode's kinda hard on girls tbh and not just the convo in the beginning i mean yumi and aelita barely got any scenes it's distracting as hell

65- Final Round

favorite thing about the episode: i mean. them losing everything is absolutely great. we had a losing situation in the season 2 finale but this time it's way bigger and i think it'd hit even harder if they didn't recreate lyoko mostly off-screen (and so fast) but when you're watching the ep it's really great

least favorite thing about the episode: everybody having a dumb excuse for not showing up ig because usually they'd get there wayy quicker. but i guess that's not entirely a bad thing bc honestly a random attack unexpectedly being their doom hits harder and is more realistic since they're constantly fighting. also like i said before i didn't like that the only long term consequence of that finale was william being imprisoned

favorite character in this episode: aelita! she did her best in a situation where she ultimately had to babysit william in the middle of the attack but also i just love her behavior in the ep in general

favorite scene: the ending where they all sit in the hermitage living room defeated in every sense of the world i absolutely love this scene!! but honestly the ep is full of great scenes

favorite line: ulrich saying “well i finished listening” is the absolute banger of bangers, honestly the scenes with him and his father are so incredibly written #tome. also when odd says “can't you like somebody without being in love?” and ulrich says “sure i can but you're totally in love buddy” i looove it they're so fun!!!! and milly and tamiya asking jeremie a bunch of dumbass questions and him answering in the most fuck off manner ever sharon mann killed it 😭😭

overall thoughts: great ep lot of things to take away about characters (ulrich's home situation, odd's reaction to sam lying) and like i said i wish we had more on-screen rebuilding of lyoko so it'd hit harder. i think it'd also hit harder if william was a likeable character in any capacity but i actually kinda like it that he wasn't but they still had to save him. at this point of the show it was way more interesting to see them save somebody they disliked and who wasn't a really good person

favorite thing about the episode: I think the conflict within the group was done really well (as opposed to many other "ostracized group member" episodes). Being upset with Jeremie about the brain deterioration thing was valid. Aelita placing value on her life and trying to navigate the right path. Jeremie's knee jerk reaction to get out of there.

least favorite thing about the episode: xana hopper and jeremie just... laughing and AAAAAAAAD:<ing at one another at the end? it's weirdly framed and like...what is happening.

favorite character in this episode: I'd almost say aelita but honestly. XANA was really good this ep. It was a great plan and xana hopper really had a lot of edge.

favorite scenes: odd boxing the creeper is the obvious pick, and for good reason! he's hilarious. XANA gaining their trust with the new abilities, pulling the rug out from under them, and the group trying to problem solve was awesome.

favorite line: "It's almost too easy! I want more creepers." "...Don't worry, Odd. It's not over yet. I've got more surprises in store for you." the way xana hopper says that is so foreboding I love it! honorable mention to "you were the one who played sorcerer's apprentice, you're the one who put your friend's lives at risk. And YOU'RE the one who let XANA destroy my diary." for similar reasons. sounds a little too evil though.

overall thoughts: I really like this ep if it's not obvious. I had trouble picking stuff out for this. Jeremie and xana both sound pretty cocky and mastermind-y at times and that's super fun. I like that it offers the group's perspective on hopper. and as said. dynamics fun.

okay so i always thought it's crazy cool that we have most of the cl background characters' names, specifically the kadic students, and it's a shame we don't talk about them more. i always include them in my cl fanfiction and i get so giddy when i see familiar names in other writers' works as well, at this point it's honestly like meeting an old friend

and yk, over the years i started loving them more and more, to the point where i have favorites now, and i came up with many headcanons for some of them, and then i made a (not really) socmed au for the show and ended up creating fake accounts for virtually every student, and i got multiple pinterest boards and folders dedicated to this and you get the picture

so i thought i'd share some headcanons with the fandom because why not + i think it's extremely fun. so i'm gonna post about it under tag # kadic yearbook so it's easier to find for me and the others ! this post will be an explanation because i know it's probably gonna be confusing as hell to see out of context i'm sorry 😭

gotta start with my favorite background character! she was my icon loooong before i became a woman with long red hair so she's always been # goals

obligatory disclaimer: we don't know anything about these characters! these are just my headcanons! everything i say in this series is just random shit i made up!

🍒 her first and last names have slavic and french origins, so i think that's what she is: slavic&french! her natural hair color is brown but red became her signature color and now nobody can imagine it being any different

🍒 she's a sagittarius, born in early december. she has an older brother who taught her how to skate when she was little but he moved away and she really misses him. she picked up skating again to feel closer to him but had to basically learn everything from the top

🍒 her best friend is sorya abulabbas (class of ‘08) and they stay best friends forever because i love them and they deserve it

🍒 she's bisexual! her first relationship is with jean-baptiste pujol (class of ‘08) but they don't stay together very long. the break up is a bit messy and bitter for a while but they become pretty good friends closer to graduation

🍒 her first sapphic relationship is with sissi. they date in high school but break up during last year at kadic because they don't see it going anywhere after school + sissi still has identity crisis (while also falling in love with yumi)

🍒 with hair like that she needs no advertising as a hairstylist. that's how she reconnects with a lot of people including emmanuel maillard (class of ‘07) who becomes her regular customer because these two deserve to be besties

🍒 she has a black girl cat named nyx that she adopted when she struggled living on her own after college but things get better when her brother moves back in town

favorite thing about them: the fact that she's a leader. she organized a whole protest back in the first season, she's charismatic and intelligent enough to lead. and yes i said intelligent because this girl is smart as hell, she's a strategist

least favorite thing about them: it'd be really obvious and boring to say “the way they reserved her character development” and luckily that's not the only thing because i hate the way she's written in the first place. not because she's a mean girl, but because writing wise she's such a victim of 2000s misogyny. this boy crazy obsessive girl is such an incel fantasy and it's genuinely sad to see. ik the show's the product of its time but yeah :(

favorite line: the one in straight to heart where she's talking about there being no classes on saturday and herve goes “it means we can go to the moves?” and she says “it means i can go to the movies”- icon!! and her whole monologue in ultimatum that's my favorite scene of hers!

i agree so much!! and not just because i think these kids have been through enough already and i'd prefer to see them adjusting (and lowk failing to do it) into society but also because it makes everything pointless. code lyoko has such a great ending it's gonna be hard to come up with a continuation that will do it justice but i really hope they manage!!

Guys I'm really loving Season 1. The kids are so cute and acting like actual kids without the stress of the world on their shoulders. It's funny to see them start freaking out once things actually Get Serious, because at this point in time, XANA attacks are kinda rare. It's also cool to see the different characterizations at this point, like there are moments when JEREMIE is saying things out of pocket (NOT related to Lyoko/the supercomputer) and ODD is the one being the straight man.

I'm also loving the lack of urgency they have in some of the earlier episodes. Like there's a scene when Jeremie's like "I think there's an activated tower! Come to the factory after class." Like XANA might be destroying the world, but history class comes first I guess

Also when Yumi is calling Ulrich and Odd to get to the factory, and they're like, "Damn, her calling is going to ruin our prank on Sissi! We'll put her on silent."

It's also really cool to see how subtle the XANA attacks are portrayed in the very early episodes. Like the Teddy Bear one is framed kinda like a possessed/haunted doll, especially with how it first only targets people Milly is mad at, and the way it sneaks into Sissi's room and is caught on camera, and then the big reveal with Jim drawing a giant teddy bear (when we've only known it to be normal-sized by that point).

BUT YEAH. I love Season 1 Jeremie SO so much. He's so adorable and actually has moments where he's just a silly kid doing goofy and dumb things. There was a kind of innocence to him too, like a general good-heartedness he had that made him so likeable despite his insane intelligence.

Not to say that Season 4 Jeremie is unlikable (at least in my opinion). Rewatching Season 1 after Season 4 was really cool because you really see how much things have changed when you're watching in reverse instead of following the gradual trajectory. Like I think I said in a previous post that after watching Season 4, I can really see just HOW MUCH Jeremie does to ensure their success. In Season 1, he really is just in charge of virtualizing and warning them about monsters/life points, with some occasional hacking and figuring out XANA's schemes, and in the few moments he has to multitask, he kinda struggles. Meanwhile in Season 4, multitasking is ALL HE DOES. He does SO MUCH to ensure not just their success but their survival as missions become more dangerous, and I'm glad they had episodes where the Lyoko warriors had to handle things without him, so you can really sense that.

I 100% understand why Jeremie's character changed given everything that happened in the show, and though I miss him in Season 1, I agree that the character developing in this direction makes sense. I really need to do a Jeremie appreciation post. As an adult I really appreciate him so much more.

One peak Season 4 Jeremie moment I'll always remember is when the Kolossus is introduced for the first time and immediately devirtualizes Aelita and Ulrich. Meanwhile Yumi and Odd are at the Replika supercomputer and so close to destroying it and finishing the mission. But Aelita warns the Kolossus can destroy the Skid in a second, which would endanger Yumi and Odd. There's like a full minute or two dedicated to Jeremie thinking about whether to pull the plug or attempt the mission, before he decides to abort it. I can only imagine JUST HOW MUCH was going through his head in that short moment.

i can only imagine how hard it's gonna be for him to fall back into a normal kid routine after it's all over. he got so used to destroying himself for the sake of saving everybody around him, i really hope when xana's gone, the others will make sure to try and save him
