Fred trying really hard to give Veta a good Christmas gift. Except he's never really celebrated Christmas and hasn't given someone a gift before. So he goes to the Internet to research, what to get someone and how to give it to them.

There are many suggestions but he finally decides on giving her "something personal and meaningful" and he has the perfect thing. While he was on Gao he took some mud from one of the healing pools. He wanted to carry it and see what exactly was so special about it. He never ended up doing anything with it though.

But he thought it would be the perfect gift for Veta, to give her some special mud from the healing pools on Gao, her home planet. It was both personal and meaningful.

Veta, the champ she was, acted very excited and happy to receive such a gift. He gave her his explanation to go along with it. It earned him a little kiss on the cheek.

The woman didn't have it in her to break it to him that taking anything, mud included, from Gao's healing pools was illegal. Instead she smiled, it wasn't the best gift she had ever received but it was clear he had put thought into it.

She wondered if he'd ever given a gift before, the thought made her a little sad at first. And made her heart race a little as she thought of being the first person Fred had given a gift to.

I’ve noticed that the Veta x Fred fandom is completely dead lmaoo, I hope they’ll be reunited someday (even if that day is FAR FAR FAR AWAY in the future if it ever happens)

I see a lot of other Fred/Veta moments but no one brings up this one from Retribution while Veta and Olivia are looking into violent Keeper/Intrepid Eye shenanigans on Meridian Station:

"Blue Team, be ready." "Always are," came Fred's reply. "You be careful." "Too late for that, "Veta said. "You haven't been a good influence." "I'll try to do better."

You have to imagine everyone listening in- which would be probably the rest of Blue Team and all the Ferrets, possibly the Silent Joe's leadership, and definitely Administrator Sloan- rolling their eyes and wishing they'd just get a room. In this crowd, the tag-team interrogation they did on Casille surely counts as foreplay.

Give me the Fred/Veta reunion, 343. Let them be happy. Send Blue Team to the Spirit on the Ark and have them do cool stuff while you do your "soft reset" in the Milky Way.

Halo headcannon

Fred actually really likes doodling and doodles whenever he’s got a data-pad and stylus that allows that in front of him. But because Fred is really bad at hiding his feelings, if he’s drawing a face of any sort he does that artist thing where he mimics the expression he’s drawing (example: Smiling when drawing a happy face, scrunching nose and scowling when drawing a mad face.)

When officers and designated personnel absolutely have to be present at the monthly safety briefs on the vessel, Fred and Veta are usually the only ones required to go so they always sit in the back since they’ve heard the same safety brief a million times. So Veta usually just glances him during those boring meetings just to see what expression he’ll make next and watching with nothing but fondness the entire time

Fred’s the reporter and Veta is a detective and Fred’s been tasked to do a report on recent murders around Gao and as Veta is the one looking into it, she’s the unfortunate soul who’s being followed around by this absurdly tall and handsome annoying reporter guy and his three kids trainees

I think Fred would collect cool rocks, crystals, and small pieces of armor from fallen enemies and give them to Veta as gifts. She finds the gesture cute and boyish in a way. Like he's a kid giving the classmate he has a crush on something he found on the playground.

At one point Kelly and Linda pulled her aside to basically beg her to not think of Fred's gifts as thoughtless. That he actually put a lot of effort into collecting them for her, even consulting with them on which items to give her.

Veta just smiled and laughed, reassuring the girls that she appreciated Fred's gifts and understood what he was trying to do. Although she tried to not let on how meaningful the gifts actually were to her.

She does her best to keep everything, luckily most of what he gives her is pretty small so it isn't hard to keep it with her. Even with all her travels, she still manages to keep a few things he gives her.
