My close friend @megancwright_pt just moved to town and we accomplished a huge goal today: major pre-baby/back-to-school freezer meal prep! We both have insta pots that we want to use more, so we found meals that we are excited to have on hand this fall. I’ve done big freezer stocks before solo, but it was way more fun with a friend! I think there were a few key pieces that made it possible for Megan and I to do this together.... 1. Money — we are both comfortable talking about the money stuff and made sure to discuss what we were willing to splurge on. For example, we both value eating organic meats, so that was an expense we were willing to take on. It was nice to share a lot of the random sauces and stuff that we don’t typically stock, so that saved some money. In the end, we each have 12 two-person meals that average out to cost less than $13 each. While I see posts about doing this for cheaper, I don’t know that it would be possible with the high quality ingredients we wanted to use. 2. We like similar foods! In this Pinterest & Instagram world, choosing the recipes was the most overwhelming part to me! But once we did, it was super easy to pull our shopping list together. Megan got what she could at Costco, Aldi, and Walmart, while I finished up at Wegman’s. 3. Our kids are close in age and, even if they don’t necessarily play “together” all the time, they at least play “alongside” each other well. We are equally comfortable with the screams and messes that come from a few hours of three toddlers being only semi-supervised. 4. We may not have been running any marathons, but we were on our feet all morning prepping and watching the kids so our pregnant selves had to take breaks to pee, to eat, to rest our legs....and it is nice not to feel alone in that! #freezermeals #freezermealprep #mealprepwithafriend https://www.instagram.com/p/B1kVwtZlOvu/?igshid=og3gpx37b37c
