French Strawberry Cake

I think Ivori is the only patisserie that offers this kind of sophisticated cake.

At the time, I was still in Melacca with my uncle. Every time we went out to eat, he couldn't resist choosing all sorts of dishes, even though there were only two of us. As a result, we often had trouble finishing the meal ! (Which isn't good)

So, once again, there were two of us enjoying three wonderful cakes. 🍰

According to my uncle, it's rare to find a good patisserie in Malaysia. Even if the cakes are beautiful, the taste doesn't really follow :( so, maybe that's why he's such a glutton haha ! 😋

Graduation cake for Ms. 6 is complete!

This is a French opera cake caleed jaconde. It is an almond based cake with meringue folded in. I baked them in sheet pans and then hand cut them into the number shapes. They are stacked-two cakes each. Basically I baked all day yesterday as I had to make four cakes and then I spent all morning cutting them out and decorating them. I had planned to try baking macarons to go on the cake but ran out of time because meringue takes a long time.

At any rate, I have always wanted to try this kind of cake and I’m happy with the result. Ms. 6 is too. She chose the toppings.

We went back to Ivori the next day. My uncle really loved this pastry shop and promised to the waitress that we will meet again.

This time, we wanted to try something different. We had a sort of a chocolate volcano, which is actually a tiramisu, a « trompe-l’oeil » of a lemon and a little pinapple pie with ice cream.

The waitress understood that we were French, so she asked us how were the desserts and if we had some critics to give them so they can improve. But we’re not dessert experts and it was obviously incredible ! I’m bot a great fan of what we took but it was still amazing. 🤩
