as someone who plays music but can’t sing, i feel connected to music in a different way. lyrics touch me, you, everyone who hears them, but being part of the thing that makes those words important - the swelling in someone’s chest or the beat of their heart to the rise and fall of music, the riff or bass line that sticks in your head - it’s magical.
