Lukas Tiro
Having lost his family and home at the age of fourteen, Lukas vowed to destroy the monster who caused it. Along his journey, he learns to handle his grief and changes his pursuit of avenging his family, to one of honouring them.
He is a kind-hearted boy who struggles with grief and letting go of the past. Grows to become a dependable leader and appears in multiple stories after his first.
Rain
Alone at the age of 23 and tormented by spirits only he can see, Rain views his gifts as curses. It is during his story that he learns to love not only himself, but others too. Love changes him, and it forces him to live even on the brink of death.
A deeply empathetic man who cares far more about others than he ever does himself. Grows to be more accepting of himself and love that which he considers flaws.
Akita Day
Homeless and surviving off of scraps at the age of 18, Akita lives purely off of spite. During the story he is thrust - unwillingly - into, he finds the determination and will to live even in the deepest pits of despair.
He is a spiteful prick who cares only for himself, yet becomes a leader when no one else can. Selfish to the end and only becomes a more complete version of himself by the end of the story.
Luna
An aspiring Historian & Archaeologist, Luna pursues her goal of discovery dutifully. However, after the heart of a dead goddess forcibly replaces her own, she becomes wrapped up in a web far larger than herself.
She is an endlessly enthusiastic and curious woman who unravels a plot far grander than her research paper would allow. And yet, her biggest weakness is hot woman... T_T
Dusk
Ex-criminal who was publicly executed, only to not end up staying dead, Dusk vowed revenge upon the man he blamed for his troubled past. Yet, along the way, too many threads entangled themselves upon him, and he finds himself making too many sacrifices.
A kind man haunted by a terrible past, he constantly grapples with his own identity and who he really is, deep down. He wishes for companionship, yet struggles to keep it when it is given to him.

I wonder who your favourite is? :3c
Tagging (no pressure), @diabolical-blue, @leahnardo-da-veggie (I can't remember if you did one of these recently or not), @ark-inkweaving, and @orphanheirs! :D
This is the official theme for my story Frequency: Hellfire, i.e. it is a song encapsulating the story/character progression into one song. It is also the first one of these I've completed (technically Dusk's theme counts here, but that one isn't finished :3).
We start with Akita on his own, bass + piano outline the chord progression -- a simple four bar descending line. The drums come in with the same lead-up as Akita's theme, cementing his status as our first character.
Then, the horns + Akita's electric guitars come in with a small chromatic descending line. The guitars here (along with the drums) continue to cement Akita's place in the story, as those guitars are one of his motifs.
They go on to play a modified version of David's main theme, as he is our next character to be introduced. The two get on like a house on a fire (as in it's doomed to fall to ash), but then in comes Kai's horns! We can't forget our lovely borderline-narcissistic charming thief now can we? :3
Chorus (0:48 - 1:15):
We finally settle into a proper groove with the introduction of Vis! Now our cohort is all rounded out, and the music settles into a nice rhythm.
Akita's guitars play Vis' main melody (along with the drums, bass, & trombones backing that up with the same rhythm); piano + tenor sax play David's main chorus again, and the rest of the horns play Kai's interjections once more.
This is all well and good... until we crash and burn :)
Half-time (1:15 - 2:36):
We slide into this one with a descending slide down on the guitars + bass, referencing the group's death and subsequent descent into Un'thil'ar, the land of demons.
However, their stay in this metaphorical hell isn't all despair, as we finally meet Hazzin, out resident demon :3
The song fully breaks into a half-time groove (it technically isn't halftime since the tempo is 75 not 70 but shuddup) with the piano + bass + bari sax (and later electric piano) playing parts of Hazzin's theme. Meanwhile, Kai's horns plays this wonderfully slowed version of his horn accents. (Like, that's maybe my favourite part, it sounds SO good).
Alto sax comes in with a solo, playing the same line from Hazzin's theme, but with minor adjustments to accommodate Kai's horns. Which then leads into a clean guitar solo, which takes direct inspiration from David's theme.
Spoiler warning again here, skip this paragraph if you'd like. But this section (guitar solo) represents David and his subsequent death during this part of the story. He is the groups leading, and after his death it is Akita who takes up the mantle and carries on with the group's quest to escape Un'thil'ar.
Second Chorus / Double Chorus (2:36 - 3:38):
Descending back in with Akita's chromatic line, with kick right back off from where we left, with everyone back in action! :`)
Except! You better not have let your guard down >:D Because in comes Hazzin with the steel chair!!! Their solo comes in full swing on both guitars + alto + trumpets! Full charge down the 'till the end of the song!
🌙 Do they sleep peacefully / fight nightmares every night?
For some binis of your choice?
Hii @mk-writes-stuff! ヾ(•ω•`)o
Hm... who to choose...
Well, firstly, I have to mention Rain (From Frequency: Kindred Spirits).
:3
Rain has prophetic dreams, these dreams (with one exception) always come true (or came true). Furthermore, he vividly remembers almost all of his dreams (prophetic or not).
Outside of these dreams, almost all of his other dreams are nightmares...
(´。_。`)
He, uh, has it a little rough.
Another one is Dusk (From Frequency: Forsaken).
He doesn't need to sleep, but on occasion he does (either from wanting to or forcefully falling unconscious). In almost all of these instances, he has nightmares. In fact, I can't think of a single instance in-story in which he has a normal/peaceful dream.
Lastly, to break up this pattern, we have Akita (From Frequency: Hellfire).
Rules: Tag your OCs according to what they'd be most likely to do
Most Likely to:
Kill Someone On Accident - Probably Akita, his Frequency allows him to create rather explosive blasts of energy, so it tends to be very destructive to everyone, including himself.
Kill Someone On Purpose - Reven. In his pursuit of Dusk, he will kill anyone in his way; if they prevent him from doing what he needs to, then he'll get rid of them one way or another.
Commit Tax Fraud - Accidentally/Unknowningly? Lukas, although a lot of my characters don't have an income so... | On Purpose? Luna. She's quite literally blessed by the goddess of trickery, she'll do it with 0 repercussions too.
Get Stuck In A Tree - Rain. I guarantee if he got into a tree, he wouldn't know how to get down.
Eat 25 Eggs in one Sitting - Kyr. She isn't voracious, but she does eat and cook a lot, so she'd definitely eat them like strawberries.
(I should clarify, when I say that, that I am imagining the eggs are hard-boiled)
Get Arrested - David. He has cheated (in gambling), pickpocket people, steal, shot people, and more. There is a bounty on his head, but he is far to charming and elusive to stay caught for long.
Get Turned Into a Frog by a Witch - Oak. He has no awareness of not trusting people. He'd be lured, back a bad decision, and get cursed with frog.
Nothing, They're Perfect - Tinder :3

Let us begin! :D

Personality
If Akita were to be distilled into a single description, a sole essence to what he is, what would that be?
If you've been paying attention you'd know the answer ahead of time...
Spite.
It is his main motivator, something I'll discuss more in tomorrow's post, but it is also the root of a lot of his personality.
Akita is a bit of a blank slate, mostly due to a lack of worldly experience. He has little in the way of hobbies, interests, obsessions, possessions, etc.
However, that isn't to say he's void of personality.
He's selfish, practical, vindictive, hotheaded, quick to violence, and many more traits!
But, a lot of his personality stems from his backstory. He was homeless, had no one to depend on, and only inherited some half-assed life advice from a man drowning in debt.
Of course he became selfish, cares only for practical worth, and quick to lash out and defend himself as a result. Like a beaten dog biting the hand, it isn't surprising for him to act the way he does.
Naturally, the inverse of this is he has almost never felt affection or trust from anyone. He is almost unwilling to place trust in other people, which helps from being hurt, but isolates you from meaningful connection.
As all characters of mine--and most well-written ones--Akita's strengths and weakness are two sides of the same coin:
His strengths lie in his self-dependence, strength of will, and pure destructive capabilities.
The inverse, his flaws, therefore lie in a lack of connection, an unwillingness to trust, stubborn persistence, and being destructive to not only himself, but others near him.
Relationships
Akita is in the running for "most 'I don't want friends' award." Despite that, he is more-or-less forced to interact with the rest of the cast. Both from proximity as well as just basic cooperation.
So, the following is a list of the other main characters of Hellfire and Akita's relationship with them.
David Pol
David is the first person Akita meets in the story of Hellfire. In fact, Akita is the first person David ropes into his own quest.
Akita... heavily distrusts David, and for good reason. Their first interaction, David shoots Akita in the shoulder, only to turn around and offer him free food, housing, and clothes. Why would you trust someone like that?
Moreover, David never really presents himself as trustful. He lies, manipulates, and continuously puts the rest of the Hellfire gang in danger, while he himself is out of harm's way.
David very much reminds Akita of his own father; a man drowned in debt who nonetheless puts others around him in harm's way instead of himself.
However, despite all that, Akita respects David on one account:
The of being an actually competent leader.
Sure, he lies and manipulates everyone, but he isn't heartless in doing so, only selfish. He does listen to others, taking on better suggestions and hearing out other's issues.
More than that, he does get the gang into a lot of trouble, but he is also the one rallying to get them out of trouble.
That, at least, Akita comes to understand.
Kai Everden
Kai, Kai, Kai...
Oh, where to begin?
Kai and Akita... don't get along, to say the least.
Kai sees Akita as a rat taking more than he needs, a disgusting ball of hatred and selfish apathy.
Whereas Akita sees Kai as the unbearable, hollow, and deceptive false charming thief that he truly is.
Kai is a man defined by the multitude of masks he wears. Deep down, at the very heart of that though, he is a narcissistic, selfish, compulsive lying, self-aggrandising shell of a person. He is nothing but contempt, and so hides it all behind layers upon layers of false care to get what he wants.
Akita, however, sees right through it.
He doesn't consciously articulate all of what I said, but subconsciously knows what Kai is, and who he's pretending he isn't.
Akita deeply dislikes and distrusts Kai, and throughout the story they bicker, argue, and fight constantly.
However, by the end of the story, they form a mutual trust in each other. They aren't friends, but they know the other will do what needs to be done, and that both of them will listen to the other, or else face the endless scorn of the other.
Vis
Unlike the two before her, Vis isn't a habitual liar or self-aggrandising narcissist. In fact, she is refreshingly honest and wears her heart on her sleeve.
Vis is the closest to being considered a friend, without actually getting there.
Akita has a deep trust in Vis--not initially, but eventually. She's honest, and Akita learns to trust that honesty rather than assume it to be manipulation.
Plus, she's the only character who truly gets Akita. She didn't go through the same thing he did, nor does she know all of the details.
But from being motivated by spite, to withholding trust and being defensive of affection, Vis gets it.
She's kind and protective, but she isn't exactly a therapist. So, while she wants to help Akita, she has her own problems to deal with.
In turn, Akita trusts Vis, but never really takes that further. I.e. He respects her, but wouldn't go so far to call her a friend.
Hazzin
Hazzin is a demon, one whose sole desire is to be free and help free others, whether that be free of mind (i.e. without strife), or free of body (not held back by circumstance of physical restraints).
They know not of dishonesty, and have no use for it regardless. They know not of hatred, strife, anger, or sorrow, only joy and peace.
They know not of morality or prejudice, for they are not human.
For all that, and more, Hazzin is the only member of the Hellfire cast to become someone Akita actually considers a friend. And they're they only non-human character in Hellfire... there's something to say there.
By the end of the story, Hazzin is free--freer than they were at least, and so is Akita. Without safety, though, Hazzin continues to follow Akita around--as he is one of the extremely few people who understand and trust Hazzin.
If this were anyone else, Akita would not be having it. He would tell them off, try to get rid of them to be alone, and--worse comes to worst--physically fight them off.
But Hazzin?
Hazzin gets a pass. They're a friend to Akita, a rare honour, and he is willing to deal with Hazzin as a result.
That sounds kind of harsh, but for Akita, that's as high of a complement as one could receive.
In fact, to add to that, after the events of Hellfire Hazzin is freed from the demon realm and Akita is back to being alive again. Because of lore/plot, Akita can understand Hazzin--who can only speak in the tongue of the Daemons, no human languages.
However, in between Hellfire and Shattered God's second half (about five years), Akita teaches Hazzin enough of his language for Hazzin to speak the equivalent of broken english.
I say broken english, since that's how I'd write it--since I write in english. But, it isn't english, it's whatever fictional language is present in Locke (Lockean? Locian? Idk), which because of fictional history would be distantly related to japanese.
Anyway, if that's not proof of their friendship, I don't know what is.
- - - - - - -
I believe that is all for today! :D
If it isn't obvious, the cast of Hellfire DO NOT get along. They are all selfish pricks with their own goals, and are only working with each other to further their own ends.
Except Hazzin, everyone likes Hazzin. (✿◕‿◕✿)
Tomorrow will be Motivations! I wonder if you can guess what that'll be about! :3c

My words are Worn, Fear, Bright, & Price.

Worn:
(Excerpt from Vol. 5 of Frequency: Wounded Reflection)
But when he saw her now, she looked awful.
Her hair was messy, as if it hadn’t been cared for in weeks. Her eyes were sunken from a lack of sleep. Her clothes were stained, ragged, and only loosely worn. And though she was slowly eating, her figure – especially the bones in her face – were notably more exposed. It wasn’t significant, but it was apparent.
He wanted to say something, but he didn’t know what. He didn’t know what troubled her so, or if her state could be explained by other means. He didn’t have the courage to speak, he wanted to, but couldn’t bring himself to.
Fear:
(Excerpt from current draft of 534ft.)
Jesse got as comfortable as he could before eventually allowing the night to claim him.
He slept with an almost carefree abandon. He wore only his undergarments and covered himself with only a thin blanket. He'd slept in far worse conditions so this was something he preferred.
However, at the crack of dawn, Jesse shot up in fear, a cold sweat rolling down his exposed back and his eyes shaking restlessly. A long dead nightmare no doubt rang in his head, it must've weighed heavy on his mind like a snake wrapped around its prey, even now ten years past.
Bright:
(Excerpt from current draft of Frequency: Forsaken)
Next, he took a metaphorical leap as he began to imagine a dagger. The light dimmed as it quickly coalesced in its new form, that of a dagger that fit squarely in Dusk’s palm. Although, perhaps to call it a dagger was a tad presumptuous. Instead, it would be more accurate to refer to it as a knife; small and inconspicuous if not for its luminous nature, and more suited for slashing than stabbing.
Nevertheless, it was a much bigger step forward than what he had been doing. Of course, with such a leap, the light had dimmed greatly.
‘The larger an object, the more light is required to make it shine just as bright... That makes sense, I suppose... but... that might be a problem in the future.’
Price:
(Excerpt from current draft of Frequency: Hellfire)
“Alright, now we did just make a deal, but I want to offer it again.” David said.
‘You didn’t offer to me twice...’ Akita thought.
“I’m on a mission to hunt someone down,” David continued, “and rid myself of their influence. Joining me will mean you don’t have to stick your neck in crime again, I already stuck my neck out for you. Your price, what you will do, is to fight alongside us through thick and thin.”

Background
I've mentioned it before, and I will continue to mention it, but Akita is homeless. But, I so far have very rarely said how he ends up as such.
For most of his early childhood, up until he was around 8-10, he was technically under the care of his father. I say *technically* because they still bounced around a lot.
Akita's father had gathered a few debts with the wrong crowds and so constantly bounced around to try and keep himself and Akita safe.
At least, until Akita was around 8-10, when his father was killed by one of the groups he owed. Much of his life before then he spent trying to teach Akita not to make the same mistakes as him.
Thankfully, the debt wasn't inherited by Akita, and so he wasn't forced into a life like that. But, his life thereafter wasn't much better.
Past that point, he was homeless, and had to do anything and everything to get money/food/a place to sleep. By the time the story begins, at the age of 18, he still lives by this life--until David changes that, of course.
But he is an urchin, a street-rat, a brat. He has no home or family, no safety or security. He lives by chance and feeds of spite.
Not that he cares.
Backstory
Much like Luna, Akita's backstory doesn't come up in the story of Hellfire, or any story for that matter.
The story begins with his encounter with David, the first catalyst in a sense. Everything before that? Nothing of concern to Akita, especially since he has no reason to bring it up.
But, largely speaking, much of his backstory is the above; he was homeless for the majority of his life, and has a disdain for his father for leaving him such bad hand in life.
There is only really one important detail from his past to note here.
Some time in his early teens, 12-15, he awakened his Frequency for the first time while being ganged up on by some thieves. Since then, anyone who's heard of that incident has stayed away from him. But any who don't know any better learn pretty fast... assuming they live.
Of course, this didn't change his life too much, only made the worst case scenarios a little more bearable.
His backstory is simple, though that isn't to say it hasn't had an effect on him. All that he's gone through before the story, it's jaded him, and made him care about nothing more than himself.
- - - - - - -
I believe that is all for today! :D
Tomorrow I should be going over his Personality & Relationships! So stay tuned for that! :3

Hey happy *valentines* STS!! What characters do you think readers will ship in your stories? Will this ship be an actual couple in canon?
Hello, @orphanheirs! ヾ(•ω•`)o
I haven't had a good STS in some time, which is probably for the better considering the last two weeks...
(^∀^●)ノシ
As for your question(s), I have a few answers! :3
- - - - -
Obviously, Frequency: Kindred Spirits being about romance and relationships would have plenty of shippers should it ever get popular. Granted, at least one of those ships is canon, but the others... might be more popular.
To be specific, I think most people would be drawn to Rain/Yun, which is a bit a shame since Kasi is really cool :/
There's also the poly ship of all three of them... which could have been canon :3 in another time, perhaps...
Funnily, I think Akita & Kai (Everden) from Frequency: Hellfire would be shipped since they can't stand each other/kind of hate each other. I know that's a common trend :3c
However, I think the story that would most likely have the most amount of shippers — as well as unique ships, would be Frequency: Forsaken.
I mean, even in canon, there's two prominent relationships. Between Dusk & Dawn, as well as Dusk & Zenith. Again, see what I said for KS group. A poly ship of all three is/was a possibility, but not in the way the story pans out.
But, then there's everyone else... and oh, everyone else.
Of course, Dusk & Reven would be shipped*, same as the Hellfire duo, but with an added enemies to lovers flavour to it. But there's also Kyr, who people would ship against my will.
*(I will be adding fuel to that fire because I think it's funny ( •̀ ω •́ )✧)
(I'm definitely not doing it to see @traderotales reaction, no, not at all... I feel like someone's watching me now...)
Viridis too... is interesting actually. See, she has a weird relationship with Dusk — a mix of a feeling of debt, gratitude, and kinship. But also, she has ties to the main villains — Titan, most prominently.
And speaking of the Families— Ah! Would you look at the time! I caught myself rambling again! Silly me! :3
As for the other stories. Unfortunately, Jesse & Claire are bound to be shipped. Unfortunate, mostly for me, but whatever. Tinder & Hope, too, although that one is more or less canon, so.
The rest are... mixed, and would probably eat up a lot of my time to explain. Genuinely, I am holding myself back from typing a 2,000+ word post going in-depth about all the different canon/(most likely to be) fanon relationships in my story.
- - - - - - -
Thanks for the ask, and I hope your day was good! Even if it wasn't spent in major valentine's day festivities, I do hope it was a good day! :3
