This song isn't related to any of my stories. However, it is part of a collection of mine titled "Space Resort" (actually name might change, but theming won't).
It's meant to emulate the sound / vibe of an old song distorted by a worn down physical medium, like an old record. As well as an old memory / nostalgic recollection.
For those of you who like fun facts, here are a few related to this song!
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
This song (funnily enough) is old. Relatively speaking. This version of the song is from 2024, of course. But, the original is from back in March of 2023.
[Editor Plupps here: For context, this edit is written in 2026]
This song is downtuned from 440hz -> 395hz. (Both are referring to A4 (or the A above middle C (C3))).
The majority of the song is in 23/16 time signature (one 16th note away from 6/4), giving it a chopped or rushed feeling. Meant to emulate an old recording skipping a beat.
I hope the song itself made you dance just a little bit.
I'm a little bit late to this one, but late is better than never. Nothing in particular has been stopping me from making this, but I've just been busy overall.

Onto the post:
Writing
Sadly, I haven't written much...
...APRIL FOOLS! (*^▽^*)
Got you! Heh... what? ...Uh huh. ...That was more than a week ago!?
Oh...
Anyway, I've done quite a bit of writing over the past month, split between various projects. In no particular order:
I wrote a Frequency: Forsaken scene snippet that ended up being almost 20,000 words. I plan on posting that once I get it edited. That may be later the day of posting this, the day after, or a little later than that, we'll see.
(@traderotales, this is that Reven scene I mentioned :3c )
[Editor Plupps here! Slight correction, it has now surpassed 20k words as I wrap up editing it. back to your regularly scheduled program!]
I also rewrote the start of Frequency: Kindred Spirits (The first four chapters or so) to be more in line with the other stories and serve as a better foundation for when it's written in full.
Lastly, I revived an old WIP of mine!
To be specific, my oldest story dates back to when I was around 12 or so, and I eventually dropped it for various reasons. Now, though, I found a way to fit it into my Other Realms collection! ...And I also wanted to have a story with proper dragons in it...
I'll probably have more to say on that last one soon, but feel free to ask about it if you're interested in dragons, complex magic systems, or fun adventure!
Music
Sadly, I haven't written much music...
...What? No, I'm serious this time. No, really!
Anyway, Skyla's theme is still the last thing I've written, from back in February. But just because I haven't finished anything doesn't mean I have worked on anything!
I've been attempting to crack the case on Viridis' theme & the Daemon Theme, but no breakthroughs have been made yet.
Regardless, have some music! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
[These audio files may be loud on some devices]
I came up with this one a few days ago, spent some time refining it and practicing what I wanted it to sound like... only to still mess it up on the recording.
Ah, well. This was the best one I got, and nobody's perfect.
= ̄ω ̄=
I've noticed I'm getting better at playing piano! That's something!

This is another version of Dusk's Theme, Act III, Part 2... again. However, the main difference between this one and the one from the previous update post, is the ending.
I incorporated the first chorus of The Death Of An Angel into the final section of this movement. That song is heavily tied to Zenith, as is this section of Dusk's Theme (and this part, of course).
In doing this, I made something really pretty! I think so at least.
The use of layering with different motifs, melodies, harmonies, and everything. It's just so... *chef's kiss*
I saw Project Hail Mary in theatres! It was so beautiful! I cried like four times, it was so emotional... o(TヘTo)
Then, I went out and got the book! Along with Mistborn, which I will refrain from talking about as I haven't finished it. But PHM's book was great! And a lot weirder, in a good way.
I also got back into playing Blue Prince, and lost a good week (I think) to unravelling its mysteries (still not done, SOMEHOW). More recently, I got House Flipper while it was free, and have been enjoying that, too.
Good Kid released a new album and I have been EATING it up!
q(≧▽≦q)
I've been biking more, as the weather's been... uh... mostly windy, actually. (^∀^●)ノシ
Uh... And I think that's most of it, if not all of it.
Have a wonderful April! And don't be a fool!

This is the theme for my character Skyla Starill, from Frequency: Wounded Reflection.
I showed an early version of her theme in my February 2026 update post. But the second-half of this song had to come a long way for it to be completed. ♪(´▽`)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy! :D
(Analysis below the cut!)
(Headphones recommended, as always)
(Song Duration - 3:42)
Skyla Starill is best defined by failure... and persistence. From the very beginning, her life was centred around what she lost and feared losing; A fire blooming in her heart to be strong enough to prevent such loss in the future.
When she was roughly 7 years old, she lost her parents, her home, and her innocence. The only thing that remained was her little brother, age 3, who survived only because he was clutched tightly in her arms.
Without guidance or home, and having lost everything to a ghast, she was taken in by the Fortissimo Special Division. They never intended for her to stay and fight, only to have food & shelter until she could secure those things herself.
But, oh, she wanted to fight.
It wasn't so much born of a noble desire to prevent others from suffering like her, nor revenge against the very monster that stole her life from her.
She just wanted to project Kai, her younger brother; make sure he never had to fight.
This past, wreathed in loss and powerlessness is represented by the sad, slow intro on solo piano.
She spent her youth training, slowly but surely become stronger, skilled, and disciplined. However, it was never enough. She was always outshone by her peers, and although she eventually managed to become a Hunter (leader) in her own right, her achievements always fell short.
However, all of her doubts, envy, and disgust was well-hidden by a deceptive mask she wore.
Skyla could conjure light, that was her Frequency. However, many also expected her to be bright and cheerful, so she pretended to be. But that mask never allowed her to be her true self.
This is represented musically from the building piano ostinato, and eventually violin melody. It's peaceful, quiet, and what is expected of her.
But although she struggled, it never cracked...
...until Kai started fighting.
Skyla fought so that Kai never had to. But, paradoxically, he fought because he was inspired by her. And despite his younger age, he managed to match — and eventually surpass his older sister in strength and destructive capabilities.
That betrayal of her desire for him to be safe, as well as envy in seeing him surpass her put a crack in her perfect mask... but it hadn't broken.
Until Lukas came along.
With his arrival — his favouritism, potential, and skill surpassing her within weeks of knowing him, that crack deepened.
This is when the piano and violin reach higher than before, highlighting parts of Kai & Lukas' themes, even growing slightly dissonant when Lukas' theme specifically plays. Eventually landing on an E, a fifth above the root note of A, not fully resolving the phrase.
Twice, people younger than her had out-grown her, out-shone her, and become more skilled than her.
So, she let that mask fall apart...
...and did something something reckless.
She let that anger consume her; that envy, disdain, and even disgust at her own failures, she let it all consume her.
In a fit of desperation and rage, she let instinct triumph over reason, fighting harder, longer, and far more recklessly than was necessary.
And when a threat came that she could not handle...
...she lost.
Of course, she did not die, but she lost an arm — her dominant arm at that. As an archer, the loss of an arm is perhaps one of the worst injuries she could have received. And so, for all that anger and envy, she lost her ability to fight... all for nothing in the end.
However, that loss only reinvigorated her resolve. The mask was gone completely, replaced by... Skyla. She didn't bother hiding her emotions or thoughts anymore.
And, although she had lost her purpose somewhat, she hadn't lost the will to fight. Even going so far as to fight alongside the other Hunters in the final battle of the story — her ranged support being invaluable in a key moment, too.
The rest of the song from 2:00 onwards is representative of that change.
That mask of bright, cheerful optimism was fully replaced by the true Skyla. The melody forever etched into it both her anger at herself, and her love of Kai.
At times it even incorporates the themes of Lukas, Vesa, Karve, and Cary. Others whom she is close to, as friends, found-family, or who sparked her change to begin with.
- - - - -
“I hate this place, and I hate all of you. When we lost our family, we had nothing, and we just happened to be saved by this forsaken group of villains. I thought we were saved, I thought I had a second chance to keep him safe. But instead, I was led into a group of wolves hell-bent on ruining my life."
- Skyla Starill, Frequency: Wounded Reflection, Volume V: The Fire Is Gone
- - - - - - -
I hope you enjoyed! :D
I honestly have a lot to say about Skyla. There's a lot going on with her, and she might be one of the messiest characters in Wounded Reflection.

It seems unavoidable, to mention that the world's dying. How could anyone not notice? Memories shatter and become forgotten, places erode and crumble to dust, time splinters and bends in on itself again.

In The Unknown Wasteland, there exists a great chasm; a valley in which nothing emerges but the fetid smell of the rivers of acidic rain cascading down into it.
Further still, exists the edge of the inhospitable wasteland — a wide, impossibly tall cliff face. There is no bottom to it, there is no hope beyond it.
You exist between them; between the pool of despair and the death of hope. All around you, the rain threatens to drown you with the world; all around you, remains nothing but the rot.

This is the official theme of my story Frequency: Kindred Spirits. It encapsulates the story through the use of the three main characters motifs while outlining their introductions and relationships.
This is the second Story Theme I've made, the first being for Frequency: Hellfire. And much like that one, this song is one I've gone a tiny bit insane over.
Spoilers may be afoot below, you have been warned!
- - - - - - -
[0:00 - 0:12]
The song starts with a lone english horn, an instrument representing Rain. Who, in turn, starts the story alone, depressed, and at the end of his rope.
[0:12 - 0:25]
Viola & oboe come in with his theme proper, before the piano swoops in the underline the score.
The left-hand piano arpeggio/ostinato is pulled straight from Yun's theme, and here represents his choice to save Rain from himself - and give him the safety to grow that he never knew he lacked.
[0:25 - 1:16]
Then, the melody shifts to one that mixes both Rain's & Yun's themes, showing how they come to work together - Rain helping Yun achieve his goals, and Yun helping Rain grow as a person.
It splits into both their themes for a moment, highlighting their differences while showing them in tandem; two parts of a single whole. So to say.
[1:16 - 2:08]
The instrumentation dies down a little with a piano solo, once again mixing their themes, before transitioning into a cello (& flute) solo that embellishes the former solo and mixes in parts of the cello solo from Yun's theme.
This section, of likewise solos mixing each other's themes, is representative of the two's connection and bond that develops throughout the story. I might be sounding like a bit of broken record, but the story is about connections and relationships so...
Then, as the cello solo reaches a climax - growing dire as the challenges the duo face grow evermore perilous - the song abruptly cuts out and drops into an entirely new section:
Kasi
[2:08 - 2:36]
In Kindred Spirits, Kasi is not in the story's earlier sections, and does not seek out - nor is sought out by - Rain/Yun. Instead, through happenstance and odd fates, the two meet her.
In turn, her introduction is abrupt, and comes in a time of great challenge for the duo - with her introduction being a great boon to them.
She is a catalyst; one that sparks great change in the story. Sending ripples throughout fate and futures alike.
[2:36 - 3:40]
Eventually, she falls right in with the others - with their themes returning in full force in tandem with hers. And from then on, her theme guides the song.
The piano, flute, drums, and mallets play Kasi's theme (either in melody or rhythm).
The oboe, english horn, and viola play a slightly modified version of Rain's theme to fit in with Kasi's.
All the while, still in the background supporting the two's endeavours, Yun's theme is played in the bass by cello & french horn.
This chorus, symbolic of the three's connection and trust in each other, continues on - adapting slightly as it progresses. Eventually leading to a climatic peak filled with tension...
[3:40 - END]
...That resolves into a slow, winding descent. This story isn't a tragedy, and this ending - which switches to and eventually resolves on the key's relative major - represents the end of Kindred Spirits:
One of a bittersweet "it's over...", and hopeful proclamations of love to continue on together against the rest of life's hardships to come. :)

I REALLY hope you enjoyed it! :D

...Now all I have to do is write Kindred spirits...
This is the theme for my character Kasi, from my story, Frequency: Kindred Spirits.
I started this song back in Sep. 2025, and since then it has haunted me, much like how Kasi's past haunts her.
Now, though, it's finally done, and I can move on to bigger projects without this proverbial weight holding me down.
Enjoy! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
(More info below the cut!)
(Headphones Recommended, as always)
(Song Duration - 4:53)
Kasi is one of the three main characters in the story of Kindred Spirits, and the last to be introduced in the story itself.
As Kindred Spirits is a story about love, Kasi's main growth throughout the story is learning to be loved - not by herself, but by others.
Over her life she had been isolated, othered, and outcast by the people around her. Deemed a monster child, a problem, something unwanted and undesired.
Despite that, though, she was always full of energy, ever-optimistic, and full of endless desires and passions to explore.
But as she grew older, and the people around her grew more hostile, she abandoned her old life and wandered in search of a new one.
Yet, no matter where she went, this isolation and lack of connection followed. It loomed over her like an all-encompassing shadow; haunting her like an ever-present ghost.
Eventually, the Fortissimo Regular Division caught wind of her, and deemed her a threat; something to be removed & erased.
But she kept running, and kept fighting for her life.
Her desire to live & her desire to love continued to burn brighter and brighter the darker things were for her.
The beginning of the song - that which is solo piano, represents this yearning for life; this desire to live and love.
Yet it stays somewhat reserved. Hopeful, yet tinged by doubt that she'd be able to live in such safety and prosperity.
That is, until she ran into Rain - the story's protagonist - and Yun.
Marked by when the English Horn, and eventually Cello, come in.
First she finds Rain.
Starting with a scent, and later a face, she finds within her a feeling she can't describe. Yearning and desire, no doubt, but for something she had no words for.
Then, with Yun she is given safety. Yun assures her she will be safe with them, and that neither of them will harm her or let harm come to her.
With the both of them, she is given all that she had begun to believe was impossible. Safety, life, hope, and desire!
The song finally picks up as this revelation is made. All three instruments play in tandem, accenting different parts of the score and the resonance between them.
All the while, the piano cuts through with Kasi's melody - marking this song as utterly and truly hers.
Eventually, the English Horn (representing Rain) plays his theme, mixed with parts of Kasi's.
In Rain, Kasi finds something she always wanted but never knew.
Love.
At first, it's distant, but over the story it grows and blooms into an all-encompassing want to be with him, to protect him, to comfort him, and for all those things inversed.
When those feelings are eventually reciprocated, Kasi gains the strength to fight tooth and nail against anything and everything that would stand in the way of her desires and her love for Rain and life itself.
The song swells embodying this passion and blazing desire. the piano & english horn play together, symbolising the Rain & Kasi's love for each other.
When that swell peters out, what follows it is a soft wind-down. As, by the end of the story, the two found love in each other and conquered all that stood against it.
They grew, and now let go of all their struggles and hardships, embracing the life that follows, together.

Writing
For writing, I plan on finishing one of my stories, after which I plan on updating my intro post, as it's been outdated for... the better part of a year.
On the side, and currently right now as my hyperfixation so decrees, I've been playing a lot of Hades II the last couple of days, and using it to fuel a part of one of my stories.
[Tl;dr - In Frequency: Forsaken, one of the Trials is based on Greek underworld mythology (technically greeco-roman, but... eh), and through playing Hades II and researching the base mythology, I've spent a lot of time planning out this arc and mapping things out in my head.]
As a result, a good chunk of my time recently, and for the next week most likely, has been taken up by that.
Here's a map I made for my depiction/interpretation of the mythology (made on a whiteboard I own):
Outside of that, I don't plan on writing too much else. If I find the time/motivation, I might work on 534ft., another story I hope to complete by the end of the year.
I might post snippets of this part of Forsaken's story, if I end up writing any scenes from it. I might end up only doing planning, we'll see.
(✿◡‿◡)
Music
As for music (which you can find here, on my sideblog), I plan on finishing Kasi's theme; a song that has haunted me for the last 2-4 months. ♪(´▽`)

On top of that, if I am extremely fortunate, I might make some headway on said song, potentially finishing more/all of Dusk Act III.
Other Stuff
As I said, currently addicted to Hades II... so I might continue that for the near future.
Also, as I've been improving in composition and moving toward creating songs through improvisation via keyboard, I might record myself playing. `(*>﹏<*)′

Here's an unfinished version of Kasi's theme. I plan to add at least two more instruments and obviously extend it a bit, but I need to figure out the structure more:
(All audio samples might be loud on some devices)
And here's part 1 of Dusk Act III, the other two parts either require other motifs I don't have, or are simply difficult to start. Also, this one is a little outdated, as one of the motifs has since been changed, but that's okay :)
(Since this is part of the updates, tag list for updates: @traderotales (Just you so far :>). Comment/reblog saying you wish to be added/removed if you want.)
This is a newly revised version of Dusk's theme. Previously, in this post, I made a version of Dusk's theme that was 13 minutes long and a combination of three different songs.
But, as some time passed, I grew to have some qualms with it. It didn't feel like it truly encapsulated Dusk. It was missing something.
So, I started working on this, a symphony orchestrated version of Dusk's theme that is made of four Acts, with each Act consisting of three Parts or Movements, each one correlating to one of the major arcs/volumes of Frequency: Forsaken and Dusk's growth and change over said arcs.
So far, as of writing/posting this, I have made the first versions of both Act I & Act II. I started this with Act I in late March, and finish Act II roughly 1 week ago in mid May. However, I anticipate Act III (let alone Act IV) taking far longer, so don't expect those anytime soon lol.
Part 1: Lost & Forgotten (00:00 - 04:04)
Part 2: Cycles Of Loss (04:05 - 07:25)
Part 3: Haunted By Remembrance (07:26 - 10:02)
- - - - - - -
This Act covers the first three arcs/volumes of Forsaken. Below is a brief synopsis of what happens, spoilers may be present.
Lost & Forgotten
Dusk begins the story with no memories of his past nor his current identity. He quickly learns this is cause by his Frequency, more accurately, its Flaw.
This Flaw cause him to forget something every time he learns something, in effect causing him to slowly lose most of, if not all of, his memories.
However, he also learns that he can break -- and therefore remove -- this flaw. The easiest, or at least guaranteed, method of doing so is in the form of a Trial. Doing so will break his flaw, and thus, return to him his memories.
Thus he sets out in search of one of these trials, all the while attempting to piece together what bits and pieces of his past and the world as he can.
'I really... Really hope this will all be over after this. I... I don't want to forget anything else.'
- Dusk, Frequency: Forsaken, Volume I: Lost & Forgotten
Cycles Of Loss
Dusk eventually finds a trial. However, it is perhaps the worst one he could have found.
The trial is of a fairly simple premise.
Dusk, along with a man named Oliver Graves, is stuck in a time loop. To complete the trial, one must either break of escape the time loop. However, there are two problems to this.
Firstly, neither Dusk nor Oliver are aware of the time loop initially. Secondly, every time they return to the start of the loop, they lose their memories of the loop. Add that on top of Dusk's innate forgetfulness and you have a recipe for disaster.
Eventually, though he slowly lost his mind in more than one sense of the word, Dusk manages to aid Oliver in breaking the time loop. It was through rigorous brute force and execution of risky tactics, but they succeeded.
Thus, Dusk leaves the trial, ready to regain his memories.
"I don't remember who you are anymore-- I don't remember who I am anymore. Please, just listen to me so we can get out of here."
- Dusk, Frequency: Forsaken, Volume II: Cycles Of Loss
Haunted By Remembrance
Dusk does regain his memories, all of them. Including, the worst part of them:
Truth.
Dusk learns many things about himself.
He is a criminal, guilty of murder, assassination, arson, destruction of intelligence, theft, and many more. He also worked, unwillingly, for the Everden family, and remembered all of the awful torture and abuse he went though. His name also isn't Dusk, it's Ralillith Tiro, though he does still chose to remain as Dusk.
Lastly, however, is a bombshell of information.
Dusk, Ralillith Tiro, was executed and he is now dead.
The entire time, Dusk had been dead. He was now just a soul, with no blood, organs, of flesh of his own. He didn't need sleep, drink, food, or even the need to breathe.
He was scum, scum that should be dead, but refused to die due to circumstances he did not yet know.
But, in spite of this news, he refused to lie down and wallow in his pain.
He left the trial after receiving his memories, now a changed man.
He was once Ralillith Tiro, he was once Dusk, now he walks a tightrope between the two, afraid to make a single misstep.
He finds comfort in his friends though, Dawn and Zenith, and the three of the them found the New Season. This group, though in its infancy, was made with the proclamation to take down the families and free the people from the fear and manipulation they have put them through.
Eventually, however, during a visit after meeting a new companion in Kyr, Dusk & Zenith are ambushed by Reven, a victim of Dusk's crimes and a man who swore not to die until he kills Dusk, and thus cannot.
He chases them until cornering them in front of a trial gate. With no other choice, the two of them take refuge in the trial, hoping they can escape before Reven finds and kills them.
"Heh, haha, hahahaa, of course! Of course it couldn't be simple. Why would it be? I was never Dusk, I... I want to throw up..."

I hope you enjoyed this song! More will be posted soon, don't you worry. <3
Act III isn't done yet, and is still pending on the completion of some other songs first.
HOWEVER! ☝
In the meantime, I went back and made a few minor revisions to Act I. I also plan on making similar, if not slightly more major, revisions to Act II as well.
So, enjoy V2 of Act I :3
(Headphones recommend)
(Song Duration - 10:03) (I'm not kidding about that... one whole second)
Everything above is still true... as far as I'm aware. So feel free to go back and read some of that to getter a better grasp of the story this song is capturing.
The only change is the duration of each individual part... I think. They are as follows:
Part 1: Lost & Forgotten (00:00 - 04:05)
- Changes:
- Added new intro, meant to imitate howling wind over a desolate landscape
- Reduced some of the repetition, as it added very little
- Added new instruments, such as harp, into this part
Part 2: Cycles Of Loss (04:05 - 08:19)
- Changes:
- Changed structure to include the final climax of the repeated phrases
- Shortened the earlier repeated phrases to make room for later ones, as well as build toward the climax faster
Part 3: Haunted By Remembrance (08:19 - 10:03)
- Changes:
- Changed structure to start immediately after the climax of Part 2
- Added a few new instruments that previously had little to no parts
- Extended the section with a new melody that better reflected the story Part 3 is based on, including the motifs for Zenith/Dawn
Kyr is one of the main characters of Frequency: Forsaken, and primarily exists on the outskirts of much of the story's focus.
Forsaken follows Dusk, co-founder of the New Season, and his quest to take down the tyrannical Families and free those under their oppression.
Kyr, meanwhile... isn't too concerned with revolution or vengeance or anything like that. She's more concerned with protecting her own and going with the flow of life.
But, the winds of change force her to act...
...and like a slumbering giant, her actions send shockwaves.
Kyr is a most powerful force all unto herself. Stronger than any other member of the New Season in pure strength, and with an unfaltering, unshakeable heart that guides her through the darkest of nights.
Kyr's Frequency is an innate gift of superhuman strength and senses, and the ability to partially or completely transform into a greatwyrm (dragon). The only downside is the more she transforms, the more her mind is overcome by blind fury and rage.
Before the story, she was known only for being independent from the Families and still claiming a Fortress (small city). Her strength, her unyielding vigour, and her unshakeable spirit was all unknown.
She doesn't have a story arc in Forsaken, remaining as she is throughout its events. Her persona, her truest self already bare for all to see long before the story's events.
Kyr is born from legends, and becomes one too.
"Oh, believe me. If they want a fight, I'll give 'em a fight."

I hope you enjoyed! ヾ(•ω•`)o
Kyr's theme... stumped me for a bit. I had a motif for her, but no matter how I added to it, rearranged it, toyed with it... it never worked. But, finally, this past weekend I found a breakthrough. All while keeping her motif intact.
Kyr is a character I like a lot, maybe more than a few of their major characters in Forsaken. And I hope, by listening to this, you gain even a spark of that appreciation. :>
